My aunt gave me one many years ago but it doesn't come in the house. It Blooms in the summer ans in the fall I take it in our work shop and leave it there with no water and in the spring I bring it out in my Gardenand it blooms for me. It is so Beautiful it has bright red and white flowers. I absolutely Love, Love, Love Gardwning. Thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks for sharing your sunshine and colorful blooms. Last week in southern Wisconsin began with snow and then hail last Wednesday that damaged the early daffodils in bloom. The late daffodils haven’t opened and we are still awaiting tulip blooms. The last 3 days including today have highs in the 40's. Thanks for the video.
The snow has just melted here but some daffodils are starting to appear, such happy flowers. I can't do tulips in the ground as the gophers just eat them up. So I have some in containers but they don't always do well with our precocious Spring weather. After our horrendous winter my garden looks like a war zone so it is very relaxing and encouraging to come visit the beauty of yours. I got some Cup and Saucer vine to actually sprout for me this year and I have high hopes of putting it on an arbor in my Rose Alley I am creating this year. I have snail vine seeds somewhere, now to find them, thanks for the reminder. Our last frost date is the end of May so I have a bit of time yet. Iris are one of my favorites and I have a wide selection but the gophers really ate a lot of them this winter, they have never bothered them before so they must've been desperate.
I love Monty Don and Gardeners World. I was going to mention you should turn the rosette on your water can to face up when watering in newly planted seedlings, the water comes out “softly” like a gentle rain. Ensures you don’t “batter” the baby plants!
The garden is beautiful! I followed your lead with my amaryllis and now I have some ripened seeds. Will float them to germinate them and 🤞🏻 hopefully get some sprouts. Thanks so much for the guidance on that!
OMG - SNAIL VINE! I have 2 inside still. They're having a spurt & are now over 2 feet tall & have stakes in them. Bad weather here & I so want them in the ground! Can't wait to watch this.
Danielle I have a snail vine ( corkscrew plant) here in So Cal. Zone 10a. I purchased it at Lowe’s. I put a simple wire trellis behind it and it climbed all over it. Then it found its way to a small crack in my brick wall and it climbed up and over the wall into a field behind my house😂 it dies back a little in our mild winter but comes right back. It is covered in purple blooms right now. I’m not sure if the smell good. I haven’t really notice since they are in the back of my planter. But I will go check that out. Good luck with yours💜
The garden looks beautiful! I wish I gardened in PA. Michigan has been sooo slow about moving into a warm Spring. We still have some below 32 nights. My plants indoors are bursting at the seams! Those yellow tulips are delicious looking!!!

Here in N Utah, 7a the forsythia, hyacinths and daffodils are just now blooming. Even the trees know to stay closed up for fear of another snow storm or cold rain. Apricot and cherry trees have not bloomed yet. We are about 1 month behind and forecasts through mid-May call for more moisture and cool weather. The grass is loving it though.
Good to see you are experimenting; I too planted sweet peas with my cup and saucer vine on the same trellis, as one flowers before the other, will see how it goes. It's fun to see you making changes, I moved around a few shrubs and felt so badly about not anticipating growth habits and the addition of new plants. Thank you Danielle, you are a gem in the garden!

Worth a try to see what happens! Your tulips look beautiful, even the ones in the back! 🙂 Today I visited a tulip farm in CT called "Wicked Tulips" as recommended by Hooked and Rooted. Such a wonderful experience. They have over 700,000 tulips for picking!!! It was so hard to decide which ones to pick, as the next one was more beautiful than the last!!!

I always find it interesting how even in the same zone 6b some are so far ahead of others for instance my tulips have been done for roughly 2 weeks along w my daffodils being gone for about 3 weeks and my peonies are already big buds and my bearded iris are in full blooming stage. Also the creme upstar remind me alot of the charming beauty how they start yellow then go to apricot and peachy tones as they mature
Our weather has been very hot already here in Southern Indiana zone 6 a/b. My tulips & Daffodils are done, my peonies are about to bloom, my ranunculus & anemones (in a hoophouse) are blooming now, & I have bearded Iris blooming now also...
Such a fun and easy work day to share with us! If you had planted the Hyacinth Bean Vine with the Cup and Saucer I would say definitely no. I did that last year 😅 Big mistake! I’m like you though with the Sweet Peas, they will probably do just fine. Hopefully your vines made it through the cold night we had last night in 6b!
Glad you showed how to start amaryllis seed in water. I saw your video on how to pollinate a flower a few weeks ago and decided to try it. My seed pod just opened up and was surprised at how papery the seeds were. I just planted a few in soil, but if they don't take I will try the water method. Thanks😊

Can't mistake that early spring light on new greens! The unusual heat is reaching northward too & things here in z4 are about a week early. Your re-edged grass should come in nicely, quickly. Isn't that what a garden is: experimentation & correction & working with the vagaries of weather & pest pressure. Ha! I feel your pain, literally. Interesting about Creme Upstar tulips being more yellow. I’ve got some Happy Upstar that is just having foliage poking out of the ground so far. Will see how different this related variety may be!

Do you have any Hearty Hibiscus? Mine usually start to break ground on May 15 or so. Love your yard. My Mom and sister loved purple flowers. So I have started a pansie and viola garden. Have hundreds of baby viola self started.

Have you tried Codonopsis pilosula? I started them from seeds this year and I love it! Especially the fact it’s a vine that thrives in part shade part sun. Cream white flowers with purple lines. 🥰 it’s a perennial also so they can get really big.

Danielle, I have a question: one of my amaryllis bulbs is going crazy! It has now grown 2-3 "bulblets" while still being attached to the main bulb. Each bulb has its own green leaves. Should I separate them? I will be putting my bulbs outside in my garden after our last frost date, ?mid May. Please & thank you!
Hi Carolyn! I’m no expert, but if it was me I would leave the babies attached all summer and put them into dormancy together. Then when you take them out of dormancy I would remove the babies into their own pots. That’s what I do. If you prefer, you can also leave them attached and see if they bloom together. They all may need a bigger pot to coexist. I had a mother and daughter bloom together once in the same pot.
We have also experienced some unusually warm weather here in NJ as well, and now it seems to be going back to "Spring" weather for the next few weeks...so a bit of a tease. Because this is not the first time (and doubt it will be the last) that we have reached 90 degrees in April and then dip back down to the 40's and 50's, then almost immediately go into the heat of summer I have given up on Sweet Peas and ranunculus. I just have to learn to adjust to the climate in my area and understand that I can't grow ALL of the flowers. Unrelated, but can't seem to find the answer...Do you pinch your Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus? First time growing and feel if I don't pinch they will resemble something like a telephone pole. I have many leaves, they are in 4" pots and are about 8-10" tall. Any advise from you or this community would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi friend! I don’t usually pinch them. I know exactly what you mean. They will eventually branch out and look like a shrub. For the first month they do look a bit silly. I have tried pinching. I did not notice a huge difference once we hit August.

Hi friend! I only have two remaining roses. The Japanese beetle pressure and disease issues caused by high humidity have caused me to remove most of them.
What is the lowest temperature you think cup and saucer can take? I’d love to get mine outside but it’s been cold lately. I’m on the other side of the state but slightly colder than where you are.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm it was 30, maybe lower last night here. I think I better wait awhile still. Our last frost date is around May 15 but I don’t even trust that. We’ve has some late frosts in the last.
Here in z6b, central KY, my tulips are gone as are my daffodils which I believe were done in by the very windy weather we’ve had this spring and not by heat. On Mar 3, we had gusts up to 80mph resulting in many very large old trees uprooting - devastating! We have had a few warm days in the high 70’s and even a record breaking 88° one day but have dropped back into unseasonably cool highs in the 50’s and 60’s with lows near or at freezing. Keeping me on my toes!

Sooo excited to see amaryllis seed in your title today. I value your advice so much. A friend just gave me some amaryllis seeds and I wasn’t sure how to germinate them. So float in water, right? Plant in cells after sprouted and put under lights? Anything else I should know? Do you have a video that gives more details? Your garden is beautiful!!!
Yes! Float on top of water. Mine took almost 6 weeks to sprout. Plant in potting soil. Place under lights. Keep watered.
Ive had a difficult time germinating snail vines too. I've had them moist on a heat matt for 2 weeks now, and 0 germination.

Have you tried Codonopsis pilosula? I started them from seeds this year and I love it! Especially the fact it’s a vine that thrives in part shade part sun. Cream white flowers with purple lines. 🥰 it’s a perennial also so they can get really big.

Danielle, I have a question: one of my amaryllis bulbs is going crazy! It has now grown 2-3 "bulblets" while still being attached to the main bulb. Each bulb has its own green leaves. Should I separate them? I will be putting my bulbs outside in my garden after our last frost date, ?mid May. Please & thank you!
Hi Carolyn! I’m no expert, but if it was me I would leave the babies attached all summer and put them into dormancy together. Then when you take them out of dormancy I would remove the babies into their own pots. That’s what I do. If you prefer, you can also leave them attached and see if they bloom together. They all may need a bigger pot to coexist. I had a mother and daughter bloom together once in the same pot.
We have also experienced some unusually warm weather here in NJ as well, and now it seems to be going back to "Spring" weather for the next few weeks...so a bit of a tease. Because this is not the first time (and doubt it will be the last) that we have reached 90 degrees in April and then dip back down to the 40's and 50's, then almost immediately go into the heat of summer I have given up on Sweet Peas and ranunculus. I just have to learn to adjust to the climate in my area and understand that I can't grow ALL of the flowers. Unrelated, but can't seem to find the answer...Do you pinch your Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus? First time growing and feel if I don't pinch they will resemble something like a telephone pole. I have many leaves, they are in 4" pots and are about 8-10" tall. Any advise from you or this community would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi friend! I don’t usually pinch them. I know exactly what you mean. They will eventually branch out and look like a shrub. For the first month they do look a bit silly. I have tried pinching. I did not notice a huge difference once we hit August.

Hi friend! I only have two remaining roses. The Japanese beetle pressure and disease issues caused by high humidity have caused me to remove most of them.

What is the lowest temperature you think cup and saucer can take? I’d love to get mine outside but it’s been cold lately. I’m on the other side of the state but slightly colder than where you are.
Hi friend! It has been 37 here since planting. They seem okay. It was only that temperature briefly.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm it was 30, maybe lower last night here. I think I better wait awhile still. Our last frost date is around May 15 but I don’t even trust that. We’ve has some late frosts in the last.
Here in z6b, central KY, my tulips are gone as are my daffodils which I believe were done in by the very windy weather we’ve had this spring and not by heat. On Mar 3, we had gusts up to 80mph resulting in many very large old trees uprooting - devastating! We have had a few warm days in the high 70’s and even a record breaking 88° one day but have dropped back into unseasonably cool highs in the 50’s and 60’s with lows near or at freezing. Keeping me on my toes!
