I vacationed in Oahu, Maui, and Kauai with my mom, and my boyfriend of 20 years. Both are deceased now, making the music more meaningful, and comforting. Rest in Peace IZ. My late husband and I bought two weeks (whenever we chose) in Maui and we spent wonderful times there for perhaps 14 years and always listened to IZ. Unfortunately, he had already passed before we discovered him, but I still enjoy his wonderful voice.

I was lucky enough to live in Hawaii for a few years with the Navy and the people there were always so accepting and thankful for what we do. i really embraced the island spirit and ever since I have left I feel an emptiness in my heart...IZ is was such an incredible singer and he really represented the spirit of the islands. He's been gone a long time but he will never be forgotten.
I think of Hawaii and the years I spent there as a boy. All the problems we people have, and people every place (Oahu is a zoo, anymore). So much competition. Everyone seems to be out for a piece of the action. So many rich people- and not just haoles anymore- desperately trying to be what they are not, while insisting on defining everything in terms of the dollar, yen, yuan, pound, and euro. But, beneath the clouds, along the beach, in the mountains, and in many thousands of homes, is priceless beauty. Behind the tourist world lies a truly special place. IZ sang about this immortal beauty reverently.

When I listen to Iz's albums, and open my windows, every strand of grass in the fields swing with his music, even the cows and her calves, the horses and butterflies get very quiet and listen to that gentle voice that touches all the souls of men, beast, and plants on earth. What a wonderful calming voice, I am from the UK and visit Hawaii frequently. What a man and now I am listen to IZ every morning before I start work just to relax. Such a short life for an amazing person.
I met him at the Ho'o laule'a in Waikiki in '96. As big of a man he was, his heart and aloha was 10 times bigger. Hawaii lost a true bruddah of aloha and the world lost a treasure. His voice will always be in the hearts of all Hawai'ians and Hawai'ians at heart. E hoʻomaha me ka maluhia Bruddah IZ.

I first heard this song about two weeks ago on my first visit to Hawaii and I simply fell in love with it. I never heard of IZ, but he is now on of my greatest fun. I have 5 of his CDs 3 for myself and 2 as presents. He depicts the beautiful side of humanity. There is definitely life after death is all I can say. And then, all I can remember is my Howlie Husband and I silently driving the winding roads with tears 😭 streaming down our faces after hearing “Hawai’i ‘78”..... might be more Portuguese than Hawaiian 🌺 but the Ohana...proud to have even smallest percentage of Hawaiian blood and Soul.... Mahalo Tutu for my Grandma Cookie and My Auntie who took me in and showed me what my family heritage is all about-everyone is gone and I am alone and hurting-but I listen to IZ and you know Da Kine Brah-my world is right again, even if for only for a a moment or two...I would chose to have that all again in a nano second, to hear Grandpa’s Pidgin English and Auntie and the Cousins Hula & Drums (ohhh those drums-don’t even get me started! I had the blessed honor of meeting and knowing this man for five years. My life was and still is touched by IZ. God Bless the day he was born! God Bless the day God took him to a new plain. He lives daily in my heart. God bless us all for ever having known and loved him to the cores of our hearts.
I just discovered his music this year when I went to Maui last week.. He passed away in 1997. I am so sad I did not know him before. He passed away and was taken straightaway to heaven and now he is singing for the Lord. His amazing voice goes deep right into my soul. Hearing him sing brings tears to my eyes because he is gone but I hope his Hawaiian roots continues to grow with those he left behind. What a beautiful soul and we are all better by listening to his music.

I only recently discovered IZ and his music after purchasing a ukulele while on holiday in Hawaii.What a gifted voice he shared with the world during his brief lifetime. I am crying now at the beautiful sound of his voice on the very first song. I was going to go to bed, but I stumbled upon a different video of IZ that I enjoyed very much, so I wanted to hear more. Now into the second song and it is beautiful also. How wonderful and what a gift he was to all who love music. I never had heard of the man. What I was missing! I must stay up now and listen.
I truly believe that every once in a while God sends a very special gift to humanity. there have been many over the centuries. some in science, mathematics, medicine etc. they usually do something remarkable for humanity & fade away. however, less often God sends us a gift for humanities soul. We know the gift is directly from God because no one else could make the gift as we find it. I believe It was such a gift. only God could make that sweet, angelic voice come forth as it did. I first heard this song about two weeks ago on my first visit to Hawaii and I simply fell in love with it. I never heard of IZ, but he is now on of my greatest fun. I have 5 of his CDs 3 for myself and 2 as presents. He depicts the beautiful side of humanity. There is definitely life after death is all I can say. Heaven has one more beautiful and fun-to-have angel. Thank you IZ.

Mahalo Tutu for my Grandma Cookie and My Auntie who took me in and showed me what my family heritage is all about-everyone is gone and I am alone and hurting-but I listen to IZ and you know Da Kine Brah-my world is right again, even if for only for a a moment or two...I would chose to have that all again in a nano second, to hear Grandpa’s Pidgin English and Auntie and the Cousins Hula & Drums (ohhh those drums-don’t even get me started! Gets me going like none other...except maybe Grandma Cookie’s teriyaki sticks and Mac salad & Lomi Lomi Salmon! Mmmmmm!) didn’t realize I had so much built up inside-IZ you speak to all people and are a National Treasure....

I had the blessed honor of meeting and knowing this man for five years. My life was and still is touched by IZ. God Bless the day he was born! God Bless the day God took him to a new plain. He lives daily in my heart. God bless us all for ever having known and loved him to the cores of our hearts.
I just discovered his music this year when I went to Maui last week.. He passed away in 1997. I am so sad I did not know him before. He passed away and was taken straightaway to heaven and now he is singing for the Lord. His amazing voice goes deep right into my soul. Hearing him sing brings tears to my eyes because he is gone but I hope his Hawaiian roots continues to grow with those he left behind. What a beautiful soul and we are all better by listening to his music.

I only recently discovered IZ and his music after purchasing a ukulele while on holiday in Hawaii.What a gifted voice he shared with the world during his brief lifetime. I am crying now at the beautiful sound of his voice on the very first song. I was going to go to bed, but I stumbled upon a different video of IZ that I enjoyed very much, so I wanted to hear more. Now into the second song and it is beautiful also. How wonderful and what a gift he was to all who love music. I never had heard of the man. What I was missing! I must stay up now and listen.
I truly believe that every once in a while God sends a very special gift to humanity. there have been many over the centuries. some in science, mathematics, medicine etc. they usually do something remarkable for humanity & fade away. however, less often God sends us a gift for humanities soul. We know the gift is directly from God because no one else could make the gift as we find it.
I believe It was such a gift. only God could make that sweet, angelic voice come forth as it did. Thank you Lord for the gift Is was & continues to be to us. Thank you for the men & technology that preserved it for us. I so look forward to meeting him in heaven one day. he will be healthy & suffer nothing.
