Really useful vid. Cheers.

So, it's impossible to use N64 on RetroArch with the keyboard (like I can with the non-N64 cores I have installed)? :(
(I only came here to see how to control N64 cores with the keyboard, since I couldn't figure it out myself. I have everything already set up, except I don't have a controller (I haven't needed one thus far) and I haven't downloaded the thumbnails; considering that the only N64 game I want to play is Wave Race (for nostalgic value; my nephew and I used to play it back in the day), I might just delete the N64 cores and data files.)
To scan without the slow Qt UI companion, you go to Playlists > Import Content > Scan Directory (RetroArch 1.12.0 with RGUI; maybe a bit different with other versions/menus).
Hey, thanks for the great video. I have everything loaded and running, but I am not getting any audio. Trying to run Kirby and the Crystal Shards, but even with Direct X9c, there is no sound. Any advice please? Thanks!
thank you
perfect ty
I have a question. This is for android Retroid pocket 2+. Is there a way to up the memory somehow in retroarch? I got some rom hacks for n64. And one of them keep crashing due to needing more memory i think. The Rom Hack is B3313.
Im on an 8 button arcade cabinet and keep getting no controller connected in game for every N64 core...please help. cant figure it out and have been through every setting.
I have a problem with this core for mario kart 64, i want to play this game but the controller doesn't work so my kart was stuck. Do you know how to fix this?
Same but I tried ocarina of time
I can't find the Mupenplus 64 on RetroArch 😢 to play games Nintendo 64. I need help! Please 🙏🏿
every video i see mentions online updater which just does not display for me in retroarch (i'm using steam version) i also can't seem to even access the menu from within games
Is it possible to do the same with emuelec?
It seems the options to adjust the Native Resolution Factor has changed. I can't find the options menu to adjust that. Any word on this?
Does anyone know how to fix the flashing screen in Mario Kart? All the other N64 runs fine except Mario Kart, it keeps flashing the screen with nothing then it goes back up, all the character portraits are dark too, like it's not loading the textures for the menu or something.
Hi I bought a Super Nintendo classic edition that had been emulated with Retro Arch (please excuse my terminology as I am a total newb to this 😅) I have all the gaming systems on the console, except for N64. My kids are bugging me to try to figure out how to get N64 on our console. The retro arch is on a flash drive that is connected to the console. Should I take it off and plug into my laptop? And access retroarch from there and follow these steps? Just trying to figure this out. Thank you
Hi there! I don't have an NES or SNES Mini myself, but know it is possible to add more emulators to them with a tool called Hakchi.
I found a couple of good guides from by the channel, Greg's Game Room which look as though they will be useful for you. His guides are for the NES Mini, but since the SNES Mini uses the same hardware inside, this should work absolutely fine for that too.
This video shows how to install and set up Hackchi - czcams.com/video/QcK_LL5rr_I/video.html
This video goes in to a bit more detail on how to install other emulators, including N64 - czcams.com/video/I1ZFY40k00I/video.html
N64 emulator performance can be a little sketchy depending upon the games you play and on which device, but by the looks of it, you should be able to play some games ok with the SNES Mini.
Good luck!
@@HowtoRetro Hey Man, Has this been patched or something ? Ive followed yoursteps but dont have the N64 option appearing in the core downloader? any insight would be greatly appreciated !
for some reason the textures are either really glitchy or non existent idk why (note im on ios)
so retro
Runs perfectly on my phone but having trouble getting N64 games running on my tablet but I will admit that my tablet is from 2014 stuck on android 6. Will this be the reason?
bro i dont have that or other one how can i get it into my system
My retroarch doesnt have any n64 emulators in the core folders
Same here.
Same just flappy bird
I changed the emulator options and upscaling resolution and now my game keeps crash. How do I undone these changes? Please help
Meupen64 plus core on retroarch keeps crashing on my android phone any way to fix this I tried preal64 but the games seem to lag hard core.
I DONT HAVE THE N64 CORES IN MY LIST ON RETRO ARCH WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
The list of cores available to download depend on what system you are using retroarch. Which version are you using?
@@HowtoRetro PS3
Ah, I don't think the PS3 version of Retroarch has an N64 core yet unfortunately
@@HowtoRetro still to this day? Which version do you use?
I can't download the latest retroarch version
for some reason I don't have the same core options as you, so I can't access any of the N64 cores. Does anyone know how to fix this? (I'm on Steam btw)
same
It doesn't show the core when I go to core downloader, it doesn't show like half the ones you have and mine is updated
The cores available in RetroArch depend on which system you are using RetroArch on. In this guide I'm using the Windows PC version.
What about ps3 version of retro arch
Keeps crashing when I click run on my N64 titles
does it need a bios file or something similar?
No need for any BIOS files with Mupen64 Plus
Crashes when booting any game using mupen
why do I not have upscaling options on my n64 rom like you? I am also running it with mupen64plus.
edit: nevermind, I am a bot. My menu does look different from yours but I guess that must be a UI setting difference somewhere
How do you download this version of retro arch
I'm just using the Windows PC version of RetroArch, available from the downloads section on the RetroArch site.
This is a great video. Just one problem...
YOU FORGOT TO TELL US HOW TO SETUP THE CONTROLLER!!! XD
🤦
bluetooth or usb cord
what does n64 roms mean and how do i get it
N64 ROMs is referring to N64 games which are called ROMs. If you search online for N64 ROMs, you will find various sites that may have games you can download.
@@HowtoRetro I don't have the core for n64... 🤷
Now how to download Tom hscks
I don't have the same settings as you. I don't get it
What's the difference?
@@HowtoRetro no option to open folder from main menu
It all depends on the RetroArch version, which menu driver you use (older versions use XMB (which I always found confusing) by default, but newer ones use Ozone by default; I always liked RGUI, because you don't have to have hundreds of megabytes of "assets" to use it; some versions also have other menu drivers, like MaterialUI and Stripes), what features were compiled (usually depending on which libraries the configure script could detect), etc.
`retroarch --features` can help to figure out what features were compiled (even more information is available in Information > System Information (again, you might have to access it differently if you don't use RGUI)).
IS THERE ANY WAY TO PLAY N64 GAMES ON RETROARCH WITHOUT A FUCKING CONTROLLER
🤣🤣 YES, THERE FUCKING IS! docs.libretro.com/guides/input-and-controls/
@@HowtoRetro I want to play yoshi story using my keyboard, but im pretty new to this so I dont understand how to make it so the keyboard works. Is there an easier explanation than on that link, I dont really understand it, sorry!
@@HowtoRetro I couldn't figure out how to do it. I set up the Controller options and it still wouldn't do anything with keyboard: I could select the track I wanted but couldn't steer when the race started.
Does this works on ps3?
Same thing I wanna kno
I don't see mupen64plus
The same😢
i dont see n64 there
