I remember a few scenes where Tecna expressed that she struggles with expressing her emotions and is accidentally rude to people, and as a hopelessly nerdy and autistic child her character was really important to me 😭 ofc they gutted that part of her character in later seasons
they just didn't get what was so great about winx at all

I love the early 2000’s vibe season 1 has and how it’s Character driven and not story driven like let’s get a chance to get to know the characters so we care about their journey
I think the most character driven season is season 2, but season 1 definitely is a good blend
One thing i love is how unhinged Stella is in earlier seasons, rewatvhing them really made me laugh so hard
honestly yeah, and not in an "I'm a 5yo kid" type of way, like later seasons
Yes i remember on the first episode she was beating up the yellow monster which was hilarious
seasons 1-3 are such an integral part of my childhood i can’t wait to relive it for a little while~
In summary, I'd say that season 1 simply feels more "alive" than the later seasons, because moments like when they're in class or when Bloom's helping Stella with her hair. The fight scenes are also well thought out and entertaining. The animation has some flaws but also has so much detail and care put into it that hasn't been replicated since they've switched to puppet animation. And apart from episodes 1, 3, 4 and 7 I think the animation does hold up for most other episodes. Look at how detailed the characters look in ep 5 when they're helping Stella with her clothes, or in ep 10 when Sky and Brandon have such expressive reactions after Bloom's comment to Riven. ❤
yeah, I think slice of life is CRUCIAL for shows, bc how are we supposed to root for them to defeat evil and go back to "normal", if we don't like or know what normal is for them
Bloom’s personality in the 4kids dub was amazing, how she shut Riven up badass.
I’ll never forget how she called him a waste of good oxygen 💀💀💀
Eh - it was better executed in the other dubs. Bloom was too fiery in the 4kids dub - she acted like a stuck up snob.
Trix coming for Alfea on those fleshy walking thrones is a statement too! They have the PRESENTATION

Season 1 holds a special place in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love Season 2 and especially 3, but I really loved how chill things were in Season 1 with the more school days and slice-of-life episodes. Also, the Trix really were at their best with they were the ones calling the shots instead of being minions for the big bad of the seasons going forward.
I agree, but I think season 2 has more slice of life episodes!

I hate how fast paced media has become nowadays bc we don't get enough time to actually connect with characters. Sure, plot is important but I believe those tiny moments where we see the characters just be themselves are so essential
I definitely agree, I basically watch things for slice of life scenes between characters that have a great dynamic tbh
This sounds a little weird but for me the slice of life moments from the first season of Winx is part of the magic aspect for me. maybe its because I'm not quite the Winx girl's ages yet but i also never really had a friend group of my own and i don't really ever have moments like that with my siblings so seeing those moments in animated shows where the characters are just living their lifes while also watching the different dynamics they each have with each other, its so "not the norm" for me and i honestly love that.
I also love how Tecna unintentionally makes fun of Bloom for her technology but also apologises after. Tecna is such an underrated Queen!
noo~ it’s really not weird at all! i said the same thing. it feels very homey, safe, and cozy like they’re saying “come on in, you’re one of us. we’ll take care of you” 😁🤧 i hope you get to experience that at some point in your life. it truly is magical.

I miss S1 - S3 so bad :( The later seasons don't even come close to the first three.

two of my fav moments that weren't in the video:
- on Rose Day when Musa, Stella and Bloom are sitting together at breakfast, most students and teachers left to visit their moms and Musa opening up about hers having passed away when she was little!
In the same episode I also love the moment whete Musa is sitting at the top of one of Alfeas towers and is talking to a hologram of her mother, the music is very beautiful there too!!
- around the s1 finale when Bloom goes to Lake Roccaluce, her powers being gone, it being her last attempt to get them back by finding Daphne, hoping to get answers! The music here as well so magical!!
Those are some of my favourite scenes too! Especially the one with Musa and her mom. Such a heartwarming scene - you feel for Musa.

14:30 I love this scene espacially because of the jazz rendition of the We Girls are The Winx song, it should be on Spotify already. And the small tabber scene in the same episode is just so cute and funny as well

I loved how when Bloom decided to go back to Gardenia, after that Red Fountain debacle, instead of walking to the bus stop with her luggage, she used a spell to have a vine bring her and Kiko to the ground level of Alfea from out her window.
Season 1 has exceptional fights compared to any seasons of winx
I would say it is definitely #1 fight-wise
The season 1 finale is iconic and watching it makes so angey at the live action
it honestly could've been so much better
It’s crazy to realize just how easy it would have been for Fate to just remake season one, but for an older audience. Literally, everything was right there: the relationships, the drama, the plot twists, and even the young adult aspects like hanging out downtown, throwing a secret party, and going to a bar. There was no reason Fate had to fail like it did
That’s exactly what’s so frustrating about it - they had themes and structure that would be perfect for a YA show😭

Awesome video! But my favourite is missing! The scene where Riven is psychologically tortured by the Trix where he is confronted with weird amorphous monsters that look like him in the beginning and then just turn into absolutely hideous monsters and Riven is like "I know I'm flawed but I'm not a monster" and then he finally really breaks away from Darcys mind control

Can we take a moment to give the 4Kids dub some love. Bloom telling off Riven in the 4Kids dub is ICONIC!. Not to mention the pageant episode where not only did they fix that scene with the crying girl (It was her squeaky voice that was the problem, not her hair) but made the sequence of the Trix sabotaging the contestants even better by putting the song Mean Girls Rule in the background.

I mean the Winx were so iconic for our generation, for once we had a girl show that understood what we wanted. Fashion, action, magic, friendship. Seasons 1-3 were a moment. Like I remember living that time vividly 😂 I was 5 went it came out. I was 8 when the show stopped being good 🫨

I'm literally doing a Winx marathon and I'm on season 3.so happy to see this community is still active
So nostalgic! Personally, I love the first 4 seasons. (Yes, season 4 as well, even though it has problems). Anyway, season 1 just has so many good things: This is the season where the Trix were at their best! They were so intimidating. The mean girls who ruled the school, commanding the other witches to pick on fairies, and that fight in Magix City is still one of the best! And I just love how creative the characters' attacks were. Looking back, everything that's happening, from the slice-of-life to the relationships and the epic battles...it just feels more organic. I hope Rainbow will look back and see what they did right during the earlier seasons and put that into season 9.
Yaay I can't wait to see the underrated moments of seasons 2 and 3 (mostly 2 since that season as a whole felt underrated)! Also really loved early winx humor bc it felt sort of mean spirited, but not to a degree that it would be too offensive to the person on the receiving end for the most part. Plus like in Stella's case with that dress, she kinda set herself up for that one 😂 Black Mud Swamp also had some pretty good humor as well, with the fairies constantly joking about the name of the Specialists since they were very obviously still new to their job at that point (ie: Stella's "the specialists are gonna be here? When? 😀") The episode even started off with a joke, although I'm not sure if a student pointing out a bug bite in a risque place would still be used today.
In general I did like how Alfea used to put a lot of emphasis on not using magic for everything so their students would have a chance to gain more practical skills, not only as fairies, but in general are just more helpful for the real world.
I think this will be more of a topic for season 2, but I also thought it was pretty cool that the magical dimension had areas that were "magic-free" or even absorbed magic because in a way it felt like how the real world can kinda do similar things with nature and evolution.
Anyway, those are all my thoughts for this video, but I am very much excited to see what this year will bring in terms of Winx content/discussions!
the pageant episode is soo good. i remember watching it with my brother and just laughting so much along side the trix. Winx was the only girly show my brother would watch with me and this episode is the one that made him start looking at it. I really like at least in France it's not removed, only the probelematic scene

I have this core memory of watching winx at my school’s after school programme on those big boxy tv’s on rollers. Probably in 2005/06 when I was 6 and in first grade. The episode took place in a huge orange room and then I only remember Griselda and Stella in her fairy form being there. Interesting how this specific memory has stuck with me over the years. Happy 20th to probably the most iconic show I know of✨🥹

I also found the filler part where the Winx gave up Stella’s ring to the trix in order to save Stella and the winx have a discussion about it afterwards and Tecna's asking Bloom who made her the leader. I know the girls well mainly Bloom came up with the name for the group, Bloom did think through some of the situations in the seasons for the group, shes the main character with the power of the dragon Flame. Im not sure if the girls in general thought of Bloom as the leader of the group in the beginning or at all and if they had another discussion about it after season 1 because jumping to the later seasons 5-8 the girls eventually said it a lot that it sounds a bit forced. It’s just like how Riven didnt really consider Sky as a leader of the specialists. It made that conflict a bit interesting.
Honestly the way they basically almost never explored tecna and her abilites + story will always make me boil, i found it so interesting when faragonda said that all magic they had was just advanced technology... and they never explored that with tecna? I mean the rest of the winx have very traditional natural elemental magic like fire nature or light but tecna? Such a unique character with so much to offer but all they ever gave us were crumbs... ALSO WHY IS SHE A ROBOT IN THE NEW REBOOT?!? PLEASE IGNACIO DONT LET HER FLOP 😭
LET'S GOOO I love season 1 slice of life as well, in Miss Magix I appreciate the existence of other contestants and host, because we can see how suits and jackets look in Magix for example, we have a small focus on two alien looking contestants and I like that little expansion of our knowledge, so I agree we should get this ep just without the racist scene
I wish we also got more alien looking people outside of that episode bc it's strange to only see them there, and maybe Downland

When you mentioned the scene of Bloom absolutely reading Riven for filth having two versions in English, and then seeing all the clips of it used... it made me wonder... would you ever talk about the 4kids version of Winx? Or is your opinion on it simple enough to summarize in a comment lol

The 4kids dub gets more than enough attention - when presenting Winx videos to a global audience it makes more sense to use Cinelume, cause that's the dub who script was used by other countries. 4kids edited the script and the show to hell and back, so only English fans can relate to it, international fans would be left scratching their head at a lot of the scenes. (Also, the soundtrack is quite weak compared to the original Italian and international soundtracks)

One really cool thing about winx is that after not watching any of it for like at least 10 years I looked back and realized that sooooooooo much of my art style overlaps with the style of this show. Like I just soaked it up with a sponge. The SHAPES I love it so much

My god i love all of these scenes as well and it´s awesome to hear someone talk about it. I´ve done a rewatch of all the seasons I own on DVD recently but ever since starting with season 4 I just kinda stopped watching, because I had forgotten how big the difference in story-quality and logic is... It makes me kinda sad. Because there are some good moments in that season too and I´m not getting to it cause I cant get through the cringe...

I love the first 3 seasons the 4th is also good but I sometimes feel like something is missing and the other season are okay I guess, like in the sense of you can play them in the background while doing something to have some sound because it is not interesting enough to look up
I think what’s missing in season 4 is the girls’ personalities, especially bloom(bloom loses her personality entirely)
Can't wait for season 2 to enjoy as it's my favourite one 😊
