i’m 21, and i grew up without seeing much black-girl representation, so i thought that something was wrong with how i looked. aisha/layla was one of the first dark skinned girl with curly hair i saw, and she was beautiful, fierce, and had a plot that i related to. i also feel like i have stella’s personality, and the wallpaper on my laptop is a gif of their enchantix transformation and have winx club wallpapers on my phone. my favorite version is the 4kids dub because i like the soundtrack and how the voice actors were funny and more expressive when depicting the characters’ personalities

I 100% agree. I attached to Flora because of her sweet personality and tan skin but when Aisha/Layla came I was SOLD. Because here was a character that actually looked like me! Even though my personality is more like Stella I still love the variety in the girls and how we can relate to more than one of them based on not just physical appearance but also traits. THAT is how you write diversity.

It's actually quite simple: SKY is the blond guy and he pretends he's not a prince because he doesn't want the attention, and BRANDON is the guy with the brown hair and Sky's best friend, so he's kinda making him a favour until he meets Stella, and he's afraid she won't be interested if he's not a prince.

i grew up with it and i really liked the voices and songs better. just waking up every summer morning and hearing the S4 Nickelodeon theme song always put a smile on my face

this is a bit of nitpick but stella is a fairy of the sun AND moon..but that title later got stripped away from her once nick ruined the series
Everyone gives the 4kids dub hell but it is the best one imo. It’s the only dub where the characters actually have personality/emotion and each voice is recognisably different. Also Lisa Ortiz as icy is unbeatable and that alone makes 4 kids the best.
I also love how Lisa just brought that hip edge to Musa’s voice and image especially in season 1 episode 9 when she was being chased by the witches of Cloud Tower and when she ran into Riven begging him to help her and he said that he’s with Darcy now she ran off saying “You’re a two-face playa!”
excited for the next parts, i love the whole franchise but only seasons 1-4 are worth it imo, these are the only ones i recommend.

I think Season 5 was the last good season. World of Winx is an underrated masterpiece aswell!

I’ve actually been watching Winx for the first time and I’m watching the 4Kids version. Honestly it sounds a lot like you described except Domino is called Sparks. Also when you asked why Riven liked Darcy in the first place, at least the way I watched it, Darcy placed a love spell on him.
I watched both versions as a kid but for some reason I was just like sparks and domino is the same thing as in I thought they named the planet 2 names lol

I watched the first episodes of Winx and, looking deeply at it, it was more dark than whatever shit Fate was.
Also, i want to talk that, in Brazil, Winx is very popular, with it even being considered as a "Sigma thing". Its dubbing here was less complex than the English version, with the cartoon having just one version, with the voice actresses only changing in the later seasons.

I love how when the parents say that they want to come with Bloom to the magic world, Stella just plays along and lets them pack all of their things and prepare for the journey just for them to walk three steps in the magic world and be immediately blocked by a magic barrier. Like Stella knew they would not be able to come with and still let them go through all of the logistics just to prove a point, that was unintentionally hilarious
Also the animation is so wonky, I do not know a lot about this kind of stuff, but it legit looks like they got the keyframes and the inbetweens mixed up or something. You can kinda tell that they really tried, and I think other visual aspects of the show are pretty cool, like the character designs of the main girls are super good in my opinion, they are very distinct and recognizable. The art style is super weird though, the eyes just constantly cling to the very edge of the face and their faced overall look so goofy. Also they make so many perspective errors especially in background characters, I remember there was one battle scene towards the end of season 1 and there were a bunch of dudes duking it out against some monsters in the distance, and because they couldn't be bothered to figure out how to draw a dude from a top down perspective they literally just rotated one of them ninety degrees, it was ingenious
I only got into the show again because one of my friends got forced by one of her uni friends to watch some episodes and then we continued watching, we laughed our butts off at so many unintentionally funny moments, it was great. We dunked on it a lot, but I think if I had seen more of it as a little girl, I would have beek hooked. The idea is really cool and the characters are pretty memorable in my opinion, and as far as I know the animation gets a lot more consistent in the later seasons. And I'm pretty sure kid me would have developed a crush on Timmy, he is best boy.
The storyline is so compelling! If only Netflix made a faithful adaption and kept the darker storyline.

Don't forget: Daphne's weird Sirenix story, Flora's little sister can't decide which age she is, Encantix isn't the final transformation, Flora and Tecna basically don't exist later on, the villains get cringe. That are my pet peeves with the story

My younger cousin (we both males) used to watch winx club when no one was around. I started watching passively and got interested also had fun time bonding over common interests
this was my entire childhood, i swear so much of my personality revolved around winx club. seasons 1-5 were peak, i rewatch seasons 3-4 at least once a year for the nostalgia, even though I'm well-past the target demographic lol

BTW here is the order in which you can keep watching the series: Winx Club season 2, Winx Club season 3, Winx club Secret Of The Lost Kingdom Movie, Winx club Magical Adventure Movie (Note: this movie includes a transformation from season 4 not season 3), Winx Club Season 4, Winx Club season 5, Winx club Mystery of the Abyss Movie, Winx Club season 6, Winx Club Season 7, Winx club season 8.

Personally I prefer the 4Kids version because the voice actors for the characters are so much more compatible with the characters and express way more emotion. Also the dialogue is much more better? I don’t know how to explain it. However, the theme and ending songs for the RAI versions are way better than the 4Kids version !!! Winx is just great overall and I agree with you 100% that you vividly notice the differences between the dubbing versions completely, especially with the dialogue.

You watch the 4Kids dub for an abridged, goofy time. You watch the Cinélume dub if you want what’s essentially a one to one translation of the original Italian, so that dub is the only English dub that has little to no variation from the original.
I found that out after I watched the 4Kids dub for the first time (I grew up with the Cinélume one)🥲

I was all over winx club as a kid. Only two season were on Netflix, so that’s all I knew and thought existed until stumbling back onto the show a few months ago. I was thriving for this show and most of all, loved Riven and Musa! The slight enemies to lovers, I’m a sucker for it! The fact that season two ended off on a good note, I was happy for how I thought it ended. But then! I come to find out there’s six more seasons, each one fucking up Rivusa more than the last, and the artwork getting more outrageously insane to where Riven looks like a strong lesbian women😀
I was mortified when watching the new seasons. I won’t lie, season three and four, were hella good. My only tick was the unnecessary drama between a couple that had so much potential. It sucked how wasted it became after season four. Out of all the specialists, Riven was definitely the most fascinating out of all of them, and that’s why I would’ve loved it the show had explored them more. But they didn’t and instead added pointless drama🫠

Oh, I know ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about the show. lol I grew up with the 4kids TV version and for a US audience, they had the best dialogue. However, the Rai version was dubbed pretty much word for word from the Italian version. Also, Rai didn't cut out or switch around scenes. Then Nickelodeon redubbed seasons 3 & 4, but after the 4th season the show began to go downhill. Now, it's getting another reboot. We'll see how this goes with "season 9."

I am a devoted fan of this series I mean I don’t watch it anymore and it has been a long time for me as well since I last watch it and I haven’t heard good things about the Netflix series when it was first released, but now people are kind of mixed about their originally bad opinions of the Netflix series, but either way, if you could do the whole animated series that would be appreciated
