  • I recently bought a malfunctioning Fujifilm s1000fd digital camera from 2008 for only £15. In this video, I will walk you through how I fixed the camera and give a short review of what kind of performance a 12-year-old camera provide. The camera had a broken display - this video can be used as a loose guide on how to replace the screen for this camera, should you want to do so.

    You've got talent. Just got a fujifilm S700 at a garage sale, camera's working fine, it just keeps losing date/time info, build in CR2032 battery must be dead, could you please find out how to replace it , cheers.

    If it comes to zoom to close up objects, it seems older cameras do a better job. I had a Powershot A1000 from Canon (also released in 2008) before i bought a new one.
    It has 10Mega Pixels and can zoom on a circuit Board so you can even see the small dust particles. But because you can not go Full HD with it(making videos with it in 640X480 with bad sound is...uff) and the pictures are only 4:3, it's only there for close up Pictures (if you need them)
    Close to every Smart Phone Camera is better today

    I use a pencil eraser followed by alcohol cleaning to clean gold contacts on the ribbon cables, memory sticks, and cards. The pencil eraser has a fine abrasive that cleans well but won't do any damage to the contacts.

      That is a very good suggestion that i have not mentioned in the video - thank you for pointing it out!

    I use a Canon 700D as my main camera but I noticed that there are a lot of cheap bridge cameras going very cheap so I decided to buy a few to see what they are like just for a bit of fun, one camera that really stood out was the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ20 where I have got some very impressive shots. I'm no expert in photography but I was impressed with it.

      I agree, the bridge cameras are not bad at all! However, the usefulness is rather limited purely because smartphone camera quality has really caught up with most entry level cameras. The huge benefit of the bridge cameras, however, is the fact that they are cameras and not phones - you can take the camera and leave your phone at home, enjoy nature or architecture or the company of people, take shots without distractions. It's a form of meditation almost :)

      @@TheRepairLair Phone sensor technology and computational photography has usually surpassed those found in bridge cameras, but the lens optics have not. There is still no substitute for a decent zoom lens found on many bridge cameras.

    I've the same cam. There is dust on the censor. How can I clean the censor?

      @TheRepairLair  Před 8 měsíci +1

      sorry, i havent tried cleaning the sensor myself, but i assume you would need to follow all the steps in the video and then take out the motherboard thats under the LCD screen. the sensor is likely attached directly to the motherboard

      @@TheRepairLair If you do be careful of the charging capacitor for the flash, they carry high voltage. It might be worth searching for the service manual, they are sometimes available for free online for older cameras.

    Turn off the awful muzak. It adds nothing and severely damages the viewer experience.
