She´s ethereal. Like the ghost of some cursed 18th century woman named Polly Jean, condemned to sing her sorrows for eternity.
White Chalk is an absolute masterpiece.
There are no words that truly express my admiration for PJ Harvey. This set is a gift.
How the hell PJ ended up in our same graceless shallow dimension in the multiverse...that will forever remain beyond science and human comprehension...
"The devil" and "Grow grow grow" are my favourite songs from White Chalk album. A haunting piece of art. Her sarcastic sense of humour "Are you ready for another little happy number?". This woman is a genius. Pure inspiration and a complete Artist.
I remember hearing this 10+ years ago, during full blown addiction. White Chalk made me yearn for the time before I went down that road. Today, after several years of sobriety, this song gives me a yearning for the years I lost and the people I lost; to go back and do it all differently. Time is such an unforgiving aspect of reality
She is simply the greatest solo artist ever. No other music can make me cry and i cant even relate to the subject matter
This woman is a genius.
Always upset at this time because I was sequestered in the family home with no money.
Hard to not have to pick your jaw up off the floor after that. Deep, Diverse and Divine set. This is a beautiful gift 🙏
i accidentally had two browsers open and they were off by about 30 seconds while listening to this; i thought through the whole set she was recording and replaying part of her music so that it was layered and was blown away.
I saw her perform in NYC at Hammerstein Ballroom a couple of days before 9/11, and in the intervening years I have let her fade out of my life, like what happened to a lot of elements of my life prior
I'm so impressed how she carried out this From The Basement all by herself. So talented!
PJ Harvey is an artist in the true sense of the word, and I've been a big fan right from the beginning. Listening to and watching this beautiful performance totally made my day! Thank you, PJ, for sharing your art with us.
Slowdive: let's use more reverb than anyone else
This is amazing! Eerie and ghostly even. That she can sound this good by herself is astonishing! What a talent! This is like PJ Harvey Unplugged! And I like Acoustic versions of songs a lot.
Seen her twice. Its a whole different experience. Borderline spiritual. Just Beautiful.
I forgot all about this set. I'm nearly in tears remembering how incredible this era was
'Ready for another happy little number?' Hahaha I remember her calling this album 'uplifting'. Actually it's my favorite album of her ever. This session is just sheer brilliance.
so beautiful. it's crazy. makes me glad to be alive to see this.
