Garnet Hill loop - Yellowstone National Park

  • This is one of the first hikes that you can do in Yellowstone that will be mostly clear of snow. I also saw the first bear tracks. These are not great tracks, but I think they look more like black bear tracks than grizzly tracks. One thing to keep in mind about tracks this time of year is that they may actually be tracks that were made last fall and frozen into the mud all winter.

    This is one of my favorite hikes in Yellowstone. I accidentally discovered a bear den east of the footbridge once. I’ve seen bison, River otters and bald eagles. Thanks Stan for taking me down memory lane

      And I see lots of grizzlies there as you can see in my older videos.

    Love this, Stan! Thank you! The bison rolling and grunting was a treat. I never get tired of watching large animals do their rolls. I stop and just watch also when my horse drops. Just something about it. Nature...ya gotta love it.
    The buttercup was special, the roaring of the river, and the interesting tracks were also!

      Thank you. It is nice to be able to get out and walk instead of snowshoeing.

      Good morning. I think those were frozen bear tracks from last fall but it is hard to tell.

    Thanks for the video Stan. I walked the loop yesterday and really enjoyed it (especially keeping my feet dry). I think I saw the same bear tracks walking up Elk Creek. The "bison hike-arounds" were a new twist for me.

    I nominate this as your best videography ever. Especially overlook views of the Yellowstone River. This is one hike I will do this summer.

    Great to see the trail now. Last time I visited I wanted to hike it, but the trail was closed for flood washout and high bear traffic. Ended up going down Hellroaring instead, another fantastic hike nearby obviously.

    Curious about the hole at 3:18. Gopher? Porcupine? (Anaconda??)
    Had a bear been digging into it?
    Need to remember that hike next time I’m in YS - looks absolutely beautiful.

    Did some of the elk still have antlers? It was hard to tell, but i would have thought they were all dropped by now. Beautiful hike!

    Is there a super cut of the snowy bison footage featured at around 9:56?

    • @StanMills
      @StanMills  Před 4 měsíci +1

      No. I wasn’t even going to video that bison as I was walking by. But I decided to because I didn’t have much wildlife in my video. Glad I did because that little video turned out kinda nice with the snow coming down.

    Are the Grizzlies still hibernating?

    • @StanMills
      @StanMills  Před 4 měsíci +4

      I think most are still hibernating. There should be some male grizzlies out now.
