  • I love this shifter! Much cleaner look than my old B&M Mega Shifter and definitely looks and performs better than the original shifter! Very easy install and you don't need to buy any cable or brackets like I did. The kit comes with everything you need to be functional. I added the wiring and switches for reverse lights, neutral safety, and indicator light, but that isn't required for use.

I had to find out the hard way about what cable to use with this shifter. B and M could give you a .little more info, I called Summit and the sales guy didn't know either until he looked it up. The quicksilver console model only uses GM cables and all other B&M shifters use B&M cables and linkage pieces. Did not know you used 2 micro switches either until I saw it on this channel, so it took 2 orders from Summit to get this figured out because they don't tell you that either. Fortunately yours had been modified and you had all the pieces to make it work. Thanks

Yes it was a bit of research to figure out how it all hooks up. I made phone calls and checked out videos and forums until I understood what was going on. I don't get to work on it as much as I like so I was mixed up thinking my power window wiring was the reverse and neutral safety wires.

Nice install Matt. My name is Matt too. Two Matt's don't make a Mike. No sir! '04 C5 Vette, automatic transmission with too much slop in the shifter handle while in drive. I probably need shifter cable bushings which are plastic ofcourse instead of brass or something. My first cool car when I was 17 was an '83 Camaro with an 305 V8 and 700r4 auto trans. with overdrive.

That's really cool. I had an '85 Camaro in high school with a 305 and 700R4. The C5 is awesome! Someday I hope to have one.

@@RepairMatt1983 I would pick up a base model if you like to cruise around, or get a Z06 if you want to go a little faster with a stiffer ride and fixed roof; compared to the base's removable targa top and better powered air-boltsered sport seats and more reliable LS1 to the LS6 (bad factory valve springs, change them on the LS6 and your good).
The C5 this year has been modded with a cold air intake, Michigan Motorsports BTR stage 1 cam kit with titanium retainers, dual valve springs, Johnson slow leak hydraulic lifters (engine sounds like a sewing machine now), Kooks headers, catted x-pipe and mid pipe all black cerakoted to a cheap stainless steel exhaust I got off eBay. Tuned to around 418hp on HP Tuners. Kind of quick for a little fiberglass 2 seater. I have raced and won a few and lost a couple so far just cruising around. It's pretty too being torch red with red sport seats, red carpet, both roofs (color matched painted roof and smoked glass) and chrome Z06 wheels. Lots of new supension parts and other parts that came off during the cam swap and were replaced because they were so easy to get to). Fun times from a car I picked up at a small local carlot for about $13K back in '21. Get one once or forever hold your peace.

Where did you get the neutral and safety switches mine didn't come with any

Mine didn't come with them either. I bought them right from Summit where I got the shifter. I don't have the packaging anymore with part numbers. If you call them, they can hook you up. I think I paid $15 per switch.

Also, I bought the small bolts at the hardware store but still had to slightly drill the switch holes larger.

Why are you insisting to not use the stock cable set up?

I used all B&M products on my 85 Camaro and it worked great. The stock cable and brackets on my car are very worn to the point that I had to hack them on there. This B&M shifter is actually made to use stock parts but mine aren't in good enough shape. If I can get the B&M parts to work, I would prefer to use those. My only other option would be to buy all new stock parts so everything is tight and fits correctly.
