Some things in Islam can't be compromised, which for some non Muslim people it would seems like heartless, because shariah law must be put before feeling. For example if we feel sad to kill animal how would we slaughter qurban during Ied al Adha. Same with LGBT, the feeling of love must be put aside.
Having said that Islam also has thing called adab, the way to deliver message. You have to show humility, kindness, respect, compassion, and if it doesn't work despite all the effort, you can't force them. Unfortunately some Muslims doesn't learn about adab. This only makes the delivery of message backfires, people becomes annoyed or even hate Islam. Muslims are obligated to rely the message but whether it changes the person or not, it is beyond our capabilities.

By advising the questioner to start engaging in the recommended acts, the individual opens the door for repentance and all that is deemed 'Godly' and good. The meaning of repentance: "The literal meaning of the Arabic word repentance is "to return" and is repeated in the Qur'an and hadith (sayings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad). In the context of Islam, it means to turn or to retreat from past sinful and evil activities, and to firmly resolve to abstain from them in future."
Sheik Habib Umar was in no way telling the questioner to continue, he specifically used the word "repentance". He has not encouraged them to carry on sinning, like some of these comments suggest.

Great message from Shaykh Habib Umar. If a person wants to find their way home and not be an inhabitant of hell, they need to repent and come onto the correct path. It’s the ones who keep going back to their sinful ways that are in trouble. The people who repented from the boat genuinely did realize their faults and genuinely did change their ways going forward. They took Master Karkhi as their example. These days you get the ones who understand the magnitude of their offenses to Allah Almighty and just don’t care, so they return back to their sinful places. Common sense is unfortunately gone from people. Having Habib Umar as an example should be the only thing needed to find your way home❤️

Habib Umar's response made me feel humble and he has corrected my thinking, by the grace of Allah. It is true what he says. We ourselves judge and personally, I have taken a very black or white view of the trans and the homosexual communities. Now, after seeing this video, I stand corrected, alhamdulillah. I am not in a position to judge anyone, no one is because we ourselves are not perfect. We may abstain from zina, khamr, ghibah, give zakat, sawm and do our salah on time.......but that does not give us the right to be cruel and consider ourselves better than anyone else. Only Allah (swt) knows what is in our hearts, and it is possible that although a trans person or someone else who has stepped out of the muslim societal norms, may actually be the better person. We are taught by rasul Allah (saw) that the thing that makes us better than others in front of Allah is taqwa, our levels of iman.
May Allah forgive us and open our hearts to learn from the guidance of our elders like this wonderful scholar and grant us jannat al firdaus, amin. 🤲🏼🤲🏼

@@ahmedparker1079 Consider who that statement was directed to (the one regarding "if there is another stronger hadith that contradicts..."). Not a layman who picks up a copy of Bukhari. It's a tired counterpoint that all traditional (i.e. not so-called Salafi, not so-called Ahlul Hadeeth) are aware of already and it does not hold much water because it does not mean what you think it means, and it does not have the same conclusions and consequences that you think it has. The Ba'alawi habibs are mostly Shafi'i scholars anyway, so if I was myself of the Ba'alawiyya tradition (which I'm not), then I'd be following sound fiqh while fully knowing that there are differences of opinions and rulings on fiqhi matters, and I'd be following the sound aqidah of the ahlus sunnah wal jamaah. At the end of the day, you think that your knowledge and your scholars are in the way of the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, and I think the same. This is a debate that has been sadly raging for hundreds of years.

In the context of Islam, it means to turn or to retreat from past sinful and evil activities, and to firmly resolve to abstain from them in future."

The trans said they were trying to find their way to Allah and that they were happy to see the sheikh. Well, the way to Allah is not by commiting a major sin.
They wanted to know the sheikh's opinion on this community, it does not matter and the sheikh should not speak of his own opinion, what matters is the religion of Islam.
This is very clear, in islam, such things are strictly forbidden, major sins, Allah wiped out the whole world in the great deluge except few with Prophet Lot peace be upon him, why? because of their disbelief first and for the gravity of their sin and corruption.
A muslim shall never shy away when stating a clear haram act, a major sin, in this case, the best advise should be : STOP doing what you are doing and repent immediately if you fear Allah, this sin calls for Allah's anger, be sincere.

Maa Shaa Allah good question and good answer.
However, i wonder, after all the kind and sweet talk of Allah's infinite Mercy, if the Shaykh went on to enlighten of a hadith where RasulAllah s.a.w ordered to distance away from an effeminate men until he reforms. Also hadith about men who dress as women and women who dress as men.
In this video clip, it is only apparent the sheikh addressed the attitude of other people towards wrongdoers/sinners, but he did not address the one who is committing the wrong/sin.
True, we should make duas for the wrongdoers/sinners. But the wrong doers should also be admonished of Allah's promised punishment which is severe, and that one should repent and correct themselves before death approaches.
Perhaps the shaykh was alluding to this through the examples he gave, but for many the message may not be clear....Wallahu'alam

Watch it again a few times till you understand the question and the answer. Not every question needs to be answered with 'fire and brimstone'. That's what hikmah is for. The questioner clearly knows they are sinning and was not asking for absolution but rather advise on how to 'come back to Allah'. The examples the Shaykh gave specifically involved sinful people who repented and corrected themselves.
