Covering the floors is the move. RamBoard and Tape can add up, but it goes down fast and comes up even faster. To walk away with no cleaning to do, MAN. We're with ya Jason! Also, if you want to 'cut' your cut in time, flip that brush around and lead with the "longer" end. More paint, less dipping! It's inspiring how fast ya'll get these houses up, and how good they look.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things czcams.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

As a painter, what we do when cutting in the edge between the ceiling and the wall is use a long drywall taping knife (?). Hold it firm in the groove and with a not too soaked brush we create the color line, then use a small roller to even it out. After that the walls get done with the big roller. Saves time, just make sure to clean the edge of the knife each time you're gonna put it against the wall and wash it thoroughly when done.

I have used a thin card stock. I did my sisters house a 10 years ago and it is all 90 year old cedar lap board. The main color was a purplish blue and the corner/ band boards were red and then the window trim was white. I used card stock when working around the trim. It was all done by brush cause it was high quality thick paint, stain and primer in one. The hardest part was removing multiple layers of decades of old paint, repairing and patching the wood. It still looks good to this today and everyone that walks by compliments it.

Another good pointer uncutting in especially on flat walls is the only time I use this method. Is if you get the bucket that holds a small 4 inch roller and a brush you cut in then you come back and back roll so you don’t see the brush marks on a slat wall. Looks very clean and professional at the end. And my favorite cutting brush is a clear cut made by Purdy 2 1/2 inch angled holds a lot of paint and coats and was very straight lines the bristles don’t go all over the place like a lot of other brushes do.

Hey Eric: Here is my "pro tip" we do when doing knock down ceilings. Use ceiling white paint to thin the mud you are spraying up!! It automatically seals the mud. BEST part of this PT is that the mud can be tinted as well. Then spray it up and knock down the peaks. If you are daring, you can PRE paint the sanded mud w/ a Blue tinted primer. Then do the white ceiling mud trick. Doing this knock down, make the ceiling look like a cloudy day!! #ProTip

The big difference between USA and Australia is that when you do ceilings and wall, you don't use cornice. Here, cornice is used to divide the wall and the ceiling (and covers the wall/ceiling join) The cut in is then under the edge of the cornice. The ceilings are usually always painted with 'flat' finish paint which tends to hide any imperfections or the joints.

Sometimes it's easier to use a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a roller screen. That way, if you are using more than one gallon of the same color, you can pour them both into the bucket and they'll mix. There can be a slight difference occasionally in custom colors which is noticeable if you start using a different gallon in the middle of the wall. We always called it "boxing" the paint.

An actual awesome pro tip for corners is this: use your painters caulking and caulk every location where a wall meets a ceiling and in the corner of every wall. Make it a small caulking bead, and smooth it out after you apply the caulk using a wet finger. This makes it MUCH MUCH easier to create a sharp line between walls and ceiling and between walls that may have a color change. It will change your painting life!

Pro tip- use the two slits at the top of a 4ft ladder to hold a classic metal paint tray, and use the Werner platform to stand on with the ladder at the end. You can cut a 6ft section at one time without holding a bucket and moving freely across that platform. Then just move the platform down so the ladder is in the opposite end of where it was before and you only have to move the platform once per wall. Hope that makes sense.

Jami, I avoid the runner's knee by wearing minimalist running shoes and slowly building up the run length. Just an idea.

Flat for ceilings only, there will be a ton of smudges and handprints you cant wipe off of those walls.

You guys better quickly file a patent for that bike brake retro fit. I have a bike and i too will try this unique setup where you just have one hand doing the braking front and rear. IF you guys build one let us know on a amazon link we can buy it.

The pencil trick can go wrong, because when you use a light color for paint, like white, the paint will pickup the graphite and masses up your nicely even painted wall badly.

Here is a little Pro tip for people that don't know when applying knock down or Texture to a ceiling go ahead and mix ceiling paint in it when you mix it and apply it to the ceiling and that way from then on when you paint it it will not come loose and fall down off of the ceiling

Try using a paint pad, the kind about 4" square with wheels on one side. You can cut a perfectly straight line to a ceiling or wall much faster than using a brush, even if you're very good cutting with a brush.

@@Lugnut64052 Small paint tray, and it's pretty easy to get the touch of only letting the pad contact the paint. I've never really had a problem with the wheels.
