It’s another great day building up on the mountain with the Perkins crew! In this episode we have to immediately do some remodel work to the bathroom tile before grouting. Then we go on the hunt for the perfect hearth stones for the fireplace down at the local rock yard. After "dusting" our visitor to the job, we cut and install the hearth stone. As always we show you how it REALLY happens, including our own mess-ups!

I showed some clips of Jamie's prosthetic hand to a student of mine (age 9) who lost three fingers in an accident. He was very excited! I think it meant a lot to him to see someone kind of like him.
Eric said it cost $4000
@@tomahoks that’s irrelevant, you cannot put a price tag on someone feelings of competence. Especially a child’s.
@@andrewfleming5531 Yes, sounds like the boy needs to feel like there's hope and he's not a freak :) I've been pleased that Jamie is showing how he uses it more.
I’m a special education teacher and it is so wonderful for students to see people with their disabilities being successful. It opens a world of possibilities.
@ishkitini like 2 yrs ago I think. There is video how and when.
I am fully impressed! It's just a complete czcams.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 plan with the best resources and step by step instructions . These shed plans are so satisfying as if the sheds build themselves on their own. Worthy work Ryan!
Here at my house we’ve decided we want Jono to have a channel of just time lapse of him cleaning, straightening, and making things all perfect. Just like we see him doing all that detail work in the background all the time.
Agreed. Perkins bros, please make it happen. Long live King Jono
Thought you just hit 500k. Now 533k. Way to go!
yeah buddy! thanks
Bless you ray! (during lunch i didn't hear anyone say it lol, wth guys!)
The second I started the video I knew you was gonna say Tom hanks 😂
As they say “the devil is in the detail”. That level of detail in grouting is what sets an average contractor apart from an excellent contractor.
And yet, the fire brick in the back of the fireplace is going two different directions. I haven't watched the end of this series so hopefully it hadn't been permanently installed when this was filmed.
LOL, even before you said Tom Hanks, I thought the same thing.
I've watching your videos for a while and I love the vibe you guys have and also the useful tips you provide. Best regards from Ensenada, Mexico, home of the Baja 1000
Extraño Ensenada
Awesome! Thank you!
Pro tip.
Use a microfiber cloth for a final wipe over your grout to pick up the final grains of grout off the tile. And a damp microfiber does a great job with knocking the grout lines down when they're too thick.
The banter is what every job needs..... fab and liked in the uk
Another method for laying tiles is to do it the opposite way to your way. Using the serrated trowel to spread the adhesive on floor first then use the opposite edge of the trowel to cover the back of the tile. A tile rep told me you get better adhesion that way
I can't wait till this one is done!
It's like being in labor for two months!
Love it!
Box cutter razor blade works well for scraping out the mortar between the tile. Quick and easy.
I call the cuts in the grout sponge siped, like they do with with tires to make them better on the ice.
So cool to see an american with a soccer t-shirt! Forza Real! 12:25
I just had limestone pavers installed on the patio and the installers installed a paver with two large holes, several with chipped corners, and now several pavers have clear cracks across the top. They didn’t choose the best pavers to use nor did they care about what was laid and how it was laid. There are also clear level differences…the patio is uneven. I respect Jamie so much for his attention to detail and care about the finished product.
Did he sneak back to the rock yard and think we didn't notice?😂
Thanks for breaking that tile…. You look amazing for pointing it out! I can do what you guys did!
Watching your tile grout cleaning made me look at mine (in Australia) and I can see where the grout was left lapping over the sides of the tile. Obviously when they built my house, the tiler didn't go to the effort Erik and crew did.
@5:57 It's re-hydrated potato flakes. So basically the same stuff that store bought mash potato flakes would be. When it first came out, Lays lobbied the gov't to forbid the use of "Potato Chips" on Pringles can because it wasn't sliced potatoes. And the Proctor and Gamble just leaned into by saying we are *not* potato chips, we're better than potato chips. And it also was the first chip that shipped in a "crush proof" and resealable container. History Channel's The Food that Built America FTW!
Ole F.P. Is a good one!
Tile floor laid on dry hardieboard (not pre-wetting) will always comes up easy..
You guys look like you having fun! I wanna help😄
"I done been havin these" killed me 😂
wait did Dom actually say those were his 'baltimore ravens' sneakers??? love it haha
cant wait for you guys to hit 1 mil subscribers :)
Really good ability track titles laid it down to the floor . Taken to the Consideration of the future
Happy Sunday!
Just 🌳 trees and a cliff !! LOL!! Yall crazy 🤪 🤣
Another outstanding job completed well done fellas UK
Maybe it’s time for a tool belt update on all of you guys. Great work!
Oh we will do that soon…!
Excited to see the lintel ... we made a terrazzo lintel for a client in a sunroom patio. Turned out great and matched super close to the terrazzo floor of the sunroom. Melamine boards are perfect for the job. Hope the week goes exactly as planned for you gents! Cheers
Jaime, you are lucky to have a good brother who helped you repair your mistake.
Big brothers never get enough credit
Thank you. You are right about that
That saw guide is called a door board. Used to be used before a track saw to cut doors down to size
Way to go Dom man.city fan.respect👍.
Love the statement @ 6:48 mater from cars the movie made that same line LOL good one there Erik thanks for sharing GOD bless you all be safe fellas
Thanks 👍
Rayzorback is adding muscle!Good grout
Jamie have the "best" workpants on! The Work make spotted! The Team to removal Tile in the Mountains Cabin. Eric have Stone Shop for the Fire Plac, and then begin the Fixing.. 💪👍🤔
So blessed with your vids ! You inspire me so much that ur the reason why I started my CZcams channel sir 🙏🏼
The stone guy is a contractor, but that high capacity dewalt tile and STONE saw would have been amazing for this stone.
Enjoying the good content. With the family on vacation in Bryson and had a full day of being outside mostly hiking seeing waterfalls. It was late so we stopped to have dinner downtown. As we were leaving we got to see the hazel house and what seemed to be Jamie's truck in the driveway. Nice town and good people. Anyone with opinions on other things to see or do in the area please feel free. We went to the road to nowhere and the furney whank loop system. Had Jimmy Mac's and Anthony's was well. Thank you for the videos and anyone's input.
I bet it was my truck… I’m down there all the time:)
You guys just keep making these awesome videos! I learn from them, a lot. I just did a big renovation in Belgium, and although we do things waaaaaay different then you guys in the US, I still feel I can relate to a lot of stuff :). Keep up the good work and the great content!
Love your work 👍
Great stuff! 💪🏼
Another great series guys. Do you know what separates you from other builders, including the subs? They would have just grouted over the tile chip and gone home. You took the time to remove the tile, clean the surface and replace it. 👍
The funny thing about the track saw is that you can actually buy dewalt skilsaw that runs on dewalt track. It's 570, 576 and 579
I'm not sure if it's on all the outlet plates but the one in the bathroom has the screw head turned at a weird angle, i would turn it to be 90 degrees
Dom, do the siuuuuuuuu!
🤣
Man guys this was a great video without Jacen yelling all the time! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
I’ve bout watched ever episode! Thank y’all!
Thanks for watching!
wow! first thought I had was that dude looked just like Tom Hanks
that stone dude didnt really have thoze pump up shoez…did he 😆
For sure!
definetly no words needed when you brought that template back to the stoneyard! what exactly is the difference between mud/concrete?
No really sure technically… but I can say this, concrete has aggregate in it. Rocks or gravel.
You said baja 1000end, it runs right here in my town
Love from india
Having to go back and fix stuff like that chipped tile is never fun. It is always satisfying to know its right once it is done.
Swipe the grout with vinegar after curing, it will prevent smudging
I'm here!
Tom Hanks, 😂👍he really does.
Put an extra kick board at the front of the vanity 😂😂😂
i thought i was the only one that uses wood chisels for masonry work !!!
I'm surprised you guys didn't come out with a merch line only with JON-OH artwork.
Happy Sunday
Anyone know what happened to the kitchen addition and remodel? Did I miss something?
we are waiting on the cabinets to be delivered before we demolish the old kitchen.. thanks for asking
I love this channel!
Good day hi all another great Video you guys got me hooked on your videos I love them nice people few jokes I just feel that I’m a part of your team love the country side and the house is super nice looking forward to next build stay safe and Jamie buy a new pair of trousers mate you got air cond between your legs mate Cheers from Australia God. Bless you all have a great day 👍🦘🇦🇺
I will buy some pants.. ha. I really love the knee pads built in…
@@jaimeperkins9606 you are a champ Jamie keep us laughing thank you Cheers 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🖕
My wife (from Eastern North Carolina) says that a few chips at once is the equivalent to a loaded mash potato. Must be a NC thing. . . . . 😂
Really enjoying your start to finish videos and have been learning a lot! One day I'll be building houses too. Any advice for someone starting a carpenter apprenticeship at 33 years old?
Be careful with power tools… be focused as you work. Notice the details. Listen as much as you can to experienced workers around you.
Wilsooooon!!!
That dude in the beginning looked like a retire Tom Hanks lmao
I’d have gone with some nice Pennsylvania blue stone for the hearth.
I’ve been watching you videos for well over a year and I’ve caught up and watch every video you have made. They are all very interesting being a joiner just out there Apprenticeship in the uk I’ve learn loads and it’s amazing how difficultly you guys do it to here. I see you all with different headphones on through out that day I was wondering what you all use and would you recommend any for ear protection and music, I spend most of my time with a circle saw or planner
It’s hard to say… there are so many out there. I lean towards ones with really good Audio quality so I can enjoy listening to music and making phone calls.
Tom hanks for sure!!!!!!!!
7:01 Cardinal Coffee!!
Been waiting for a new one
Run Forest!!!
eric, what kind of music do you guys listen to? give me something from each of your playlist.
Instead of chipping at the edge of the stone to make it “more natural”, use a torch and flame the edge. Wear eye pro though.
👍👍
Erik and Jaime do you not have to use fire board and fire caulk behind the fireplace ?
It’s code here in Michigan along with a fire stop up above The fireplace chase
The fire stop here is called a draft stop. It may be the same. I’m not sure
After watching Jamie use the tipped-punch on the tile to break it out it occured to me that he very well may have forgotten what it feels like to slam his finger with a hammer on a cold winter's morning... I wish to hell I could forget that too... or maybe just stop doing it...
Sunday Fun from PBB today. Thank You guys..Keep Up The Good Work
Glad you enjoyed it
Dose upside work in Australia
1:13 i noticed it right away
Wow…for sure F.P. could pass for Tom Hanks. Especially from the side.
Finish the never ending house.
Hala Madrid!
hahahahaah welcome to tiling
Why are y’all not using the notch trowel on the floor?
Pringle are made from corn NOT potatoes. FYI
He's acting like a rock Mason 😆
#longlivekingjono
He totally did look like Tom Hanks 😅
Please can you tell me what blade you use to cut those stones? I have procrastinated on a similar project because I dread the torture of cutting my huge bluestones.
just a diamond masonry blade
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers thanks!
Forest Gump!
How do you keep the grout from efflorescing?
I’m not sure but I think there has to be excessive moisture for that to happen
We are i think the 3 wettest country and your guys water protection attention is awsome...although were like off grid...suck. Pohnpei, Micronesia
You got to film lunch time longer
That you care enough to replace one tile with a tiny chip it why you can call yourselves 'professional pro builders'. It's rare.
