I'm about to do this on my 05 yz250 shock that I'm ashamed to say has never been serviced 😬. I used to be a mechanic so I can usually figure things out pretty well but your videos are definitely good to watch to see how another mechanic goes about different procedures. Especially when the factory manual says not serviceable.
Good luck. It’s pretty straightforward
Do you know if you can replace a needle style reservoir cap with the schrader valve style? My ‘21 yz 450 fx has the puncture type. Figured I’d ask before I order a part.
Also, are all the parts usually pretty standard? Like the piston band and O-rings behind it? I’ve been rebuilding suspension for a while and might start offering it to people in my area, would be nice to build up a stock of stuff to get things in and out quick.
Not sure if anyone has that (schrader swap) part but it would be good. I like that better than the needle style. As far as the other stuff. You only need about 3 different setups to cover almost every shock.
You must drive fast, just was on your live feed this morning 😂
😂
Where could I get the replacement orings and seals for the seal head?
Technical touch
@@highlandcycles ok i try them out never heard of them.
@@dahatchery they are the KYB importer For the us.
Thanks a lot! I’ve been looking and looking around and no one sells just those seal and oring components. I hate to throughout a perfectly good seal head just to get another one. When I can keep the 3 I have and rebuild them for one of my 5 YZs.
Nice job 👍👍
Thanks

Yeah buddy
If I don't have nitrogen then what is the alternative?
Raw air will work ok. Just expands more when hot
@@highlandcycles gotcha so just keep tabs on the pressure right
@@trewatkins530 Yeah. What no one ever talks about is that air is 70% nitrogen anyway.
@@highlandcycles it's crazy I was looking up nitrogen vs. Air on Google search b4 I ran across the video and it did say that.
Any rebuild video u got on yamaha fork seals?
Bushings need to press in not bang in lol
I have done it both ways and they both work just fine as long as you’re careful and make sure that it seats flush. On this channel I try to show folks how they can do it with the tools they probably have in their garage if possible
