    I tore two of the 3 and part of the third playing basketball like 8 years ago and we didn't do the surgery. It didn't heal right and was insanely loose leading to more and ankle sprains. Ended up doing the surgery 3 years later, and fast forward another 5 years I'm currently in Physical Therapy for a revision of the lateral ligament or a brostrom surgery I believeit was called. 0 out of 10 would not recommend lol.

      What wouldn't you recommend? Getting or not getting surgery?

    • @oIRONITEo
      @oIRONITEo Před rokem

      @Shahin Couto No absolutely get the surgery if recommended to you. If you're active at all, like recreational sports, hiking etc. All you're really doing is putting off the inevitable if you don't get it. Even if everything heals right it won't be as strong as before and it'll just keep getting worse.
      The reason I had to have a second one is I'm insanely unlucky tbh. First ankle roll post surgery was a step off my porch in a weird way and I cracked a ankle bone. Second time which really did everything in, was I was walking into planet fitness in the rain and I stepped in a puddle, but it turned out to be a pot hole and I stepped on the side of it, and down I went.
      TLDR get the surgery if recommended just brace up afterwards if you're going to be on uneven ground or anything like that.

    • @oIRONITEo
      @oIRONITEo Před rokem

      @@hanswurst333356 hurting yourself in the first place lol. Definitely get the surgery done. I'm about 8 weeks post op and I've been up and walking without any aid for 2 weeks. And with the use of a stirrup brace since week 3. Obviously protocol varies from doctor to doctor but mine is aggressive when it comes to rehabbing the injury.

      I rolled my right ankle playing tennis. I had previously ignored some soreness in that ankle and was about to run to my left and push with my right foot and the ankle rolled only slightly. I felt a loud pop and that was all of that. I completely ruptured the perineal tendon and found out that there was an accessory bone the size of a quarter sitting in the middle of that tendon. When the tendon snapped, it pulled the accessory bone up to my ankle. Long story short, I got surgery. The doc removed the bone and pieced the tendon back together. I was out for 4 to 5 months, but with PT and weight training I am now back on the courts playing a high level of tennis. Able to run fast and move laterally just fine.

    I would love to hear that he is improving. I heard critics say he shouldn't have lost to jiri but firt that guy is good second he's basically coming off such a servere injury and no one is gonna take it easy on him. I hope he doesn't push himself too hard I'd rather him pull out of matches to prolong his career then have a major setback. Everyone wrote him off years ago saying he can never be the best he's a type 1 diabetic. But he did and he went toe to toe on a surface he was ok at with Rafa. He was becoming one of the best clay court players in the world when he got hurt he already was the 3rd best active hard court player. Win 7 titkes and an Olympic gold the year before we tcti the US Open afi Al the year before that. Doctor can you do a video with what you see in his next loss or victory? I'm hoping victory I want to see him land and use his legs to produce that back hand I want to see if he can hit 220km. I think it will take him all season to get back into shape and I hate to say that because he wanted the slam so badly. But tennis is a sport that you have to play everyday the better you are the more days in a row. When he played well he was playing 75 matches. 400 hours. Slams are gonna be hard when you have to win 3 sets. Does he wear something now because people dont realize how much sliding is done esspecilly when coming to the net which he will be challenged. Is there an example of an athlete tennis or any other sport that tore all 3 and came back and played well?

What would you say his chances are to become the player he was would he ever at 25 top 3 with that power and speed of is this a career changed? That speed and court coverage and will it impact the serve when u come down and land? Can we expect a guy who's his size but only about 180 to heal 100 percent will there be scarring. He mentioned bone bruise back in September causing him pain I honestly thought that was too early to come back. Thoughts can you make another video?

    Thanks for the update Brian !! Had a big ankle sprain 1 month ago and completly torn 2 of 3 of my ligament! As you said in your video it not require surgery in the first place. Do you think i can FULLY recover with a lot of physio or my ankle will never be the same again ??

    • @jeremychristian5445
      @jeremychristian5445 Před rokem +1

      I don't think he will respond lol but like he said, the treatments will depend from person to person i.e. in this case they opted for surgery because Alexander is a pro athlete. I don't know your case but if you aren't a pro athlete, then the prognosis and treatment will be different. Ultimately you should just listen to your doctor's advice and stick to the physio plan. What we need to restore isn't the integrity of the ligaments per se because we can't really control the healing process of the body. What we need to restore is the proprioceptive function of the ankle joint because during ankle sprains, it isn't only the ligaments or bones that are injured. There is a structure known as the sinus tarsi (you can just go look it up) which is basically a conduit of nerves that is responsible for proprioception (space awareness). This is the function that people kind of loses when they sprain their ankles which also makes them prone to repetitive ankle sprains. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best on your recovery!

      @@jeremychristian5445 thanks for your very interesting response, I will check for sinus tarsi structure ! But I had to stay all summer wrapped in tight bandages around the chest - it was July when it happened ! And I couldn't stay motionless : I had a beautiful garden to take care of and my mom knew that something is wrong and the second x-ray showed that the pieces of the bone aren't glued together and I had to stay another 3 weeks with a tighter bandage around : no shower🚿, no cool in that heat ! 😂😂😂

No break but Grade 3 Sprain and whole foot was swollen and black. Crutches for a week but I was young at the time. 16 or 17 but it did take almost a year for it to feel full strength. When you tear ligaments you need surgery to reattach them. If you were ok after a week of crutches, you didn't tear any ligaments. Torn ligaments are never as strong as they were previously, so tearing one is essentially life changing as far as athleticism goes.
