      Thank you so much for the kind words. I put a lot of work into making my videos and I appreciate when they are noticed. I wish I got some commission for every tractor I’ve sold because I know I’ve influenced quite a few people. I do it for fun however.

    Had a Curtis cab on my old John Deere 4200. I now have a 5740 grand L series with the cab. I will say that a factory cab is leaps and bounds better than any aftermarket add on. Both a great for keeping a person warm but the factory cab will outshine the aftermarket more often than not.

    • @ritterjon

      Factory cabs are very nice. They have all the creature comforts and are usually very quiet. However, they both keep you warm! Enjoy that L series!

    I spent the extra bucks for the B2650 to have the factory cab. But, no matter your choice or your budget, a cab is an absolute blessing. Your videos are awesome and helped me so much to choose and to get used to my tractor. Please keep up the amazing work!!!!

      That B2650 is a nice machine. I also thought about when I was in the market for a new tractor. A b series on my property just didn’t make sense though. Thanks for the kind words! 👍

      Hi Jon!! Thank you so much for your response!! I completely understand your point. From your videos, your property is about 4 times the size of mine so the B2650 is waaaaay oversized for my lot for sure. I also get a lot of snow in the winter, like yourself , 16 feet or more. But, after carefully considering your model, I chose the overkill option for the cab. Plus, it is my ‘getting ready for retirement ‘ gift to me 😂

    I have never seen the need for a cab, especially after watching your recent video about the hydraulic problem caused by the cab fitment. I saw an outfit called ATV Cabs that makes an easily removable hard cab but the price seems outrageous and I have never seen an independent review of the cab anywhere. I simply put on my insulated coveralls, muck boots and ski goggles and enjoy the fresh air. Then in the summer I'm enjoying the north woods free and clear!

  • @rotorbeam1
    @rotorbeam1 Před 3 lety +1

    As far as the heater use, when it's really snowing outside, you should try at directing the air from the vent close but not at the windshield itself. The window should not fog up and since it's not getting heated up, it remains cold to the outside and the snow just fall's off. Just have a air circulation within the cab and this should do the trick. Works great on a truck or car also although you have to make deflectors for them.

    Great video and thanks. It's Nov 2020 and I live in Northern Michigan about 12 miles from the Mackinaw Bridge and we get some butt kicking winters here. I have a 150 foot drive that is gravel pack and have always used a walk behind snow blower but as I just retired in Aug 2019 my wife decided it was time for me to stop using the walk behind and purchased a brand new Kubota 1880 with a loader. I found out she actually was gonna get the front snow blower but the 1880 is a little underpowered for that and switched over to the loader which will allow me to do many other things as well. I will quickly decide this first year if I want to spend more on a cab or not. It's a given if you had a snow blower verses a bucket. I have plenty of area to dump snow and will have fun learning. I am hoping for delivery early this week. I am getting wheel weights and chains plus I will be loading my tires with RV anti freeze.

    Hey Ritter! I will be buying an “original tractor cabs” hard top soft cab this winter and man I can’t wait... for $1,000 shipped it’s the best option by far for me because not only is it cheap and effective but I can remove it in the spring time very simply and store it for next winter which is great for me since I don’t want a cab in my way when working my tractor all summer long.
    I’ll be sure to make an install video to add to my channel so I’ll keep you posted when I buy it!

    Each time I see your cab, I want one. But I think they do no longer offer it for the 1962 Case... I'll have to build it... If I had to buy a newer tractor for clearing snow, I would definitely pay the extra money for the heated cab. That is for sure! I like all the features your cab has. Thanks Jon!

      The Curtis cabs are like having a cab and a canopy because the doors are so easily removable. The older I get I try and stay out of the sun as much as possible. The Curtis advantage is a lot more easily removable than the premium.

    I have a Curtis soft cab on my Kubota BX25d TLB, including the heater, but there are so many openings around the levers and under the seat that the heat seems to be escaping. Do you know of a way to remedy this problem, to keep the heat inside the cab?
    I planned to seal the openings with soft rubber bands, to allow the movement of the levers and to seal the underside of the seat with a piece of rubber mat, held in place with Velcro. If you know any other ideas, they would be welcome, thank you.

    • @neilbagdis5220
      @neilbagdis5220 Před rokem

      The reason the cab cools off when in use is that the air supply for the fan is being drawn into the cab from every opening available. You will not be able to seal them all. I have found that if you cover the inlet screen to the fan in the cab, I use a sheet of bubble wrap that fits perfectly, the heater will do just fine keeping you warm. This is not recommended for summertime use because you need the air to cool the engine. In the dead of winter or with temperatures below 32 degrees, the engine will remain cool enough when running at full throttle. Try it and see if it works for you?

  • @wildbill23c
    @wildbill23c Před 3 lety

    Cab sounds great till you look at the cost, and those BX tractors look hideous with a cab anyways. I don't have a cab on my lawn tractor which is what I use for snow removal as I have a 42" snow blower for it, they don't make a cab for my lawn tractor, at least not one that would be useful, those cheap plastic things are just that they're cheap and don't last long.
    If I get a tractor it will sit in the shed all winter anyways, so no sense wasting $5k+ on a cab that'll never get used. Been thinking about that the past few days, what would I use it for in the winter? Nothing...I have the lawn tractor with a snow blower on it which if we ever get enough snow it'll do the job just fine. No use for the tractor in the winter honestly....maybe a canopy in my case would be a better way to go, then again its just something else to get hung up on trees and such. I used to mow my 2 acre property with a garden tractor, no canopy, no cab, etc. Just did it and did it early in the morning so I was done by 10 or 11 before it got too hot. I probably won't do much if any mowing with the tractor since I have a lawn tractor, but I may pickup a side job or 2 and probably use the mid mount mower to mow the pasture once or twice a year, hoping more often if I can get an irrigation pump LOL.
    A cab would be nice if they came off without having to spend 1/2 the day doing so, but just the doors coming off really don't help much with the heat in the summer time, plus the dust that will swirl around in the cab with just the doors off. After much thought I'll skip the additional $5k on a cab and put it towards implements I'd rather use, and then save the money up for the standard cab at some point as the back window on it opens as does the windshield....pretty stupid the higher end cab back window doesn't even open, yet they want you to pay more for it. The standard cab to me would be just fine and the doors would be off it pretty much all the time anyways, more of an annoyance having the doors on for most tasks, unless you are just mowing a huge field where you aren't getting on and off the machine frequently.
