Dune isn’t a book I’d recommend to any 12 year old simply because of its reading level being I’d guess late high school not middleschool. Funny though.
@@agenttank because it demands a certain reading level that young kids aren't likely to have + Herbert really just kind of expects you to understand middle eastern politics circa the time the book was written
hahaha this is so good, i just started reading the first book and Im blown away by the lore and universe that herbert created. Im fascinated by the politics and how relevant it is to today's conflicts.
As someone who has read all 6 of Frank Herbert's dune books, book 1 was the best(And is the only one in my personal headcanon), 2 and three were fine, but the rest, however, should not be spoken of
Honestly Dune the book is so much better then even the new movie because for all that it gets right, there still some things missed. And dune once you read it enough, can't be put down. I would HIGHLY recommend reading the book.
The amount of detail and lore packed into book 1 makes it impossible to adapt 100% accurately tbh I think there’s one or two things Dennis could’ve done better (namely Chani’s story leading into messiah) but for the most part he smashed it tbh
I would send this to my friends, because they know I’m quite passionate about the series, but unfortunately this doesn’t apply to me as I am actually about to start book six.
It can be a little bit jarring, it happened to me also. But it's not the time skip, but the way that the characters have changed (very darkly, like Paul and the fremen). After that initial shock, it's quite an excellent book (and trust me, Children of Dune and God emperor of Dune are the shit)
this is what people think Dune fans are like but in reality they wont shut up about shit like when Duncan Idaho climbs a wall so good it makes a woman orgasm
I actually kept notes, it was a study of sorts. Then I went to fight in Iraq, we fought Feydakin, no really that's what they called themselves. 😒 They couldn't fight... I am beginning to think that book is made up.
I called Paul a badass and got lectured by someone with way to much time on their hands about the moral and societal implications of a messiah figure ruining society. It’s impossible to just think Paul is dope without someone telling you how dumb you are😂

When you have seen the Golden Path, brother, you shall take your place in the Temple alongside the Great Duke's skull.
This is how I talk to people who read the books after I watched the 1984 movie.
My older brother read all of the books and watched all of the films and converted to Islam.

It's surprisingly breezy. I never got bored. The last third is pretty rushed but still a solid 7.5/10 read. Better than the movies.

I thought it was a Christopher Walken impression at first.
Would have been hilarious if one of the Dune books had the film cover on it, implying he bought the books only because of how great the movie was lmao
