    STORYLINE:
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday insisted that President Joe Biden can still win her state, a key battleground in the 2024 election, even as some national Democrats question whether Biden should move forward after his shaky debate performance.
Whitmer's statement comes as many in her party question whether she could step in for Biden and run against Republican Donald Trump this fall. Whitmer and several other top national Democrats have publicly backed Biden since Thursday's debate.
“Whitmer said that she is 100% still behind Biden and that she believes the state is still winnable in his reelection campaign,” said Joey Cappelletti, a Lansing-based Associated Press reporter who covers Whitmer.

I think Democrats should cherry pick the ticket. In a national referendum on codifying Roe. Achieving a congressional trifecta, I think Whitmer/Newsom 2024 is the best pick.
It is too important. Do it for the women of this country, I would say to Joe Biden.

If you haven't noticed, California isn't doing too hot. There's a lot of people that are moving out of that state and they're losing millions of dollars. The state of Michigan has over 15,000 miles of toxic waterways. Literally no one in the state of Michigan has clean drinking water unless you have a filtration system in your house. Neither one of those people should run anything.

@@LordVader407 This was kind of my thinking too. California has been a controversial state for a long time. Huge problems with homeless, drugs, cost of living, strict regulations, natural disasters, drought... You can't blame all of that on Newsom but it's irrelevant - people will blame him anyways and this is exactly what the republicans will do. They'll do the same with Whitmer and the water and people will listen.
