    Great to see the T-80U review! I wanted to have T-80's since the day I learned of Team Yankee. Also, I really like your in depth review approach (kit + real life + game). I think it is one of the best on CZcams.

      Hi Victor. I’m glad you like my video format. And I was excited to see the T-80 kit become available for Team Yankee. Just waiting for the new book and box set now.

    The only thing I don't like is that we don't have any way to field the T-80B or BV. A T-72B upgrade sprew and formation would have also been nice. Otherwise I love this.

      I think Battlefront really missed a trick not making a separate T-72B upgrade sprue with ERA and optional parts. That would have breathed life into the T-72 mould and given people options. I'm just not sure who's buying T-72 now except Soviet satellites.

    The pics look good and sharp and the information is excellent well up to Fog of War's usual quality. 👍

    the model looks so much better IRL than in the promo pictures for the starter set

      Getting your hands on the plastic is always a better indicator than pictures - or even videos! :-)

    Awesome review! Very excited to see this kit reviewed.

      Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. It was great to get my hands on the plastic to review it. BF has only very rarely sent stuff for review, so it's great when I can get hold of a kit. There have been no Starter Sets at any Australian retailers/wholesalers yet, so I'd still be waiting to get hold of one.

      Oh man. You should see me play. I forget or mis-remember rules like everyone else. Maybe worse! But I do my research and work from a script. The guys who can make engaging content live to camera have my admiration. I can’t do it.

    What a surprise that you used footage of the second channel of the public spanish television at 5:10, the nostalgia seen that logo as a kid 🥺 (they had great kids programs)

      Fog of War yes, its from TeleVisión Española 2 or spanish television 2, is like the channel for “less important” matters

      My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it. I haven't built mine yet. My poor Soviets are still stuck with a mix of T72 and T64.

    Brilliant review. Recently got drawn to TY having not been interested much before. Of course, as with any new period, one looks at the various alternatives and scales like Northag, Fistful of Rows & Cold War Commander but they all have things that I don't like. Overall I think TY hits all the right points for me, fast play, superb models enough weapon variety and of course a good range of models. It also has the added attraction of being extremely popular, a popularity that the games mentioned, and pretty much all others, can only ever dream of.

    I just got the starter set and I found the T-80s chewed through M60s. I'll see how they do against Chieftains and Leopards

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  Před 2 lety

      I'm not surprised T-80s chewed through M60s! They will be a handful for Chieftains and Leopard 1s as well. Challengers and Leopard IIs are a better match.

    Nice kit apart from the front flap. The instructions in the starter box were not clear and Battlefront have now published a better guide www.team-yankee.com/Default.aspx?tabid=867&art_id=7058 but sadly the forward facing side of the flap has indentations that either need to be sanded or covered with weathering/mud when painting.

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  Před 3 lety

      Yes. I saw that. The new guide helps, but I'm still not sure I got mine on right. I can practice some more when the platoon box comes out... :-)

    A good way off topic but I must ask the box of Universal Carrier Patrol BBX55 has one card that shows the carrier firing a a Bombardment 48" Artillery anti tank 1 fire power 6 it does not show a man seated in the back should there be?

    • @FogofWar
      @FogofWar  Před 2 lety

      For firing purposes there would be a gunner kneeling on the engine deck manning the Vickers MMG. There would probably be an assistant gunner/loader in the rear too. The bombardment attack comes from the machinegun. British gunners were taught to fire high-angle plunging fire to saturate long-range targets. This allowed them to reach targets out of effective range of aimed direct fire for the weapon. But the down side was it was a more random area-effect attack. That’s what’s being reflected on the card here.
