- Marinades are usually used on lean cuts of meat but we thought it would be interesting to try marinating a pork butt and see how it turns out. We used a recipe for a bourbon marinade from one of our favorite magazines, Cook's Country. The recipe is provided below if you would like to try it out. Enjoy!

Bourbon Marinade
(this recipe is for a 3.5 lb pork butt, adjust measurements if using a larger cut)
1/2 cup bourbon
1/2 cup soy sauce (suggest low sodium if you are planning on using a rub)
3 tbsp packed brown sugar
3 garlic cloves, smashed and peeled
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before marinating.

Really appreciate that, thanks!
Definitely need to try a marinade on my next pork butt, it never really occurred to me to do that, so thank you! Great video by the way! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!
Yeah it never occurred to us either until we saw that recipe. Of course a pork butt doesn't have to have a marinade, but it's worth trying out!
@@BarlowBBQ why not right? Its more flavor!
Gonna have to try this on the next butt! Thank you.
It's worth a try! Enjoy your weekend, Chevy!
I marinade my pork ribs over night. And they come out great and tender on the grill every time.
Damnit man your videos are at the top on You Tube definitely better than most of the high subscribers⊠How you think your marinade would taste if you also injected that into the meat? Seriously you have really good videosâŠ
What do you UK guys for Kosher salt? Sea salt? Rock salt? Or romething else? Thank you.

You mention smoking the port butt but it did not look like you added any wood. Can you clarify. But it looks good and I definitely want to try this. Thank you
We didn't have any wood chunks that day, but using a mix of B&B briquettes and lump gave me a touch of smoke đ
Looks good! Did you put any sauce on before eating the rest of it? It would be fun to come up with a sauce to compliment the marinade. Got a pork butt in the freezer for Blackwell. Btw save that magazine for meâŠPizza Party!
We used a little Tabasco Sweet & Spicy sauce on it and it was delicious!
