Yuzuru's skating life has been full of sufferings and pains. That is why he never forgets to appreciate that he is able to breath, to walk, to skate on the ice. At the moment of collision, he said his head became totally white blank, seeing only the ceiling lights, believing that his skating life was over. Yet his strong spirit made it possible for him, not only to complete the program but also to win the silver. Injured, bloodied, yet standing up, then injured and beaten again, yet again standing up. That is Yuzuru.

However, I will say she was probably the most polished and consistent skater history has ever seen, quite incredible

@@hantingchen5497 Yes I totally also agree with you. Especially in juniors Mao asada was dominating Yuna but in seniors it was mostly Yuna until she retired. Mao Asada is also definitely know for going for high risk high reward but judges always punished her harshly than any other skaters. Yuna Kim was definitely more layback to her jumping skills and focused more on consistency and that gave her a higher PCS. Either way the holy trinity of figure skating will forever always will be Yuna Kim Mao Asada and Carolina Kostner.

@@hantingchen5497 Yuna established triple lutz-triple toe as a staple in the female’s field. I haven’t watched many female skaters of that era, but a lot of commentators would always say that was her “signature jump” whenever she did that combo. I’m stretching a little, but I think Yuna’s domination during seniors was because she was performing at a high difficulty (relatively even without 3A) along with her amazing technique and skating skills.

Not to contradict you but their careers were not over after these collisions.....in fact of all the skating accidents and collisions I know it hasn’t ended the career of any of them. The worst accident was the male pair skater from Canada who fell while doing a lift with his partner and she landed on his head while it was on the ice and he had multiple skull fractures but he kept skating, he just had to wear a helmet. The second worst accident in skating was the Canadian pair skater who was doing side by side camel spins and his blade sliced across her face ....she had stitches and a crack in her skull but kept skating too....the only skater to have their career ended while actually skating was Russian Pair skater Sergei Grinkov who suffered a massive heart attack at age 24 or 25 while on the ice skating with Wife Ekaterina Gordeeva while practicing for Stars on Ice. It was devastating.....

This was quite a nice timing to upload a video on Mao since her ice show tour will end soon. According to the news, her ice show will be held 200 times in Japan (in 3 years, i think. it was going to finish last year but due to pandemic, her shows were cancelled). I don't know about the history of other ice shows, but I think it is quite incredible that her show had that much demand. Initially, it was planned for 10 shows but then, turned out to be 200 at the end.

    • @Google-U

The Thankstour was actually supposed to end in the fall of 2020, but it will all end on April 27th this year. The total number of venues visited over the past three years is 50, for a total of 202 shows!
The tour was so successful that an exhibition of the costumes used for the tour was planned, but it was partially cancelled due to an COVID19...
This tour is very much cheaper than a regular ice show, and the distance between the audience and the skaters is very close. Mao is the main cast member, so she skates for 40 minutes out of the 1 hour and 30 minute show. I think it's really amazing that Mao has been doing that for three years.
(And she didn't do the same thing all the time, she changed costumes and choreography little by little to make it more enjoyable for the audience.)
She says she'll stay involved in skating :D

it's a rule that medics cannot enter the rink up until everyone has left it, for everyone's safety. and the ones that didn't leave immediately after they collided, they probably thought they both fell at the same time, like they tripped and fell. Yeah they should have been more aware of their surroundings, but it really wasn't on purpose. Figure skating isn't as competitive as everyone thinks it is, and I'm sure everyone there knew (even from personal experiences) that health ALWAYS comes first, so they wouldn't sabotage anyone like that.

They would’ve probably made it worse if they helped. They’re obviously not trained in treating others, and they don’t know what type of injury was sustained. Only the medical staff should touch the injured. The last thing you want is everyone surrounding the injured, as you can see yuzuru is having trouble breathing so a crowd around him certainly would’ve been bad, and it would also cause a state of panic on ice. There’s also a possibility that they might be labeled as ‘sabotaging’ their competitors even if not intended so best to not get involved and let the professionals handle it. They also don’t know what happened, if it’s an accident or intentional attack.
In general, if the person whose fallen cannot respond coherently, let alone get up themselves, you leave them on the ground and get help.

She was expected to win a medal, but failed to do so because she missed many jumps in the short program the day before this one.
But this free program, she succeeded in all her jumps. this free program, she succeeded in all her jumps, including some difficult jumps that only she could do. Her free program is the hardest program among the women.
Even though she knew she wouldn't get a medal anymore, she didn't decrease the difficulty and did that difficult program.
She lost the competition, but she beat herself !!!
She said the reason why she cried was because she wanted to succeed in the short program the day before, too.
But after crying a little, she smiled right away! :)
