Bakugan is a long-running toy and animation born out of a collaboration between Canadian toy company Spin Master and the late Japanese SEGA Toys. Each Bakugan is an alien creature that takes the form of a ball which opens via magnetic pop-open action on a metal card or core. The series has had many iterations, including a 2019 and 2023 reboot of the franchise. The line often includes trading cards and accessory gimmicks.

It definitely needs more than what we’ve gotten. TCG was the only sort of depth this series has ever gotten.

i'm not a fujoshi but... this guy's kinda got a point. if we can get a bakugan anime that's actually competently written with the strength of a horny japanese writer we can get attached to the brand outside of just the cool toys and nostalgia.

Really enjoyed listening to your points. Despite the first impressions not really appealing to me, I am still willing to give this new gen a chance by buying the first wave when it comes out before I pass final judgement on it. The TCG was what got me into the reboot in the first place and without it idk what can possibly keep me in. But I am willing to wait to see what they present to me before I say yes or no.
And that's fair! We (obviously) enjoy the physical toy element, and the TCG was just a bonus for us. Everyone likes something different about the series and if the focus changes from the element that someone likes, it's understandable to move on. I think any complexity we get from gameplay will come from the toy element, so I hope they can pull through on that end. And distribute well. And for the love of god make gimmicks conducive to making landing or hitting other 'gans on a card interesting and fun.

I would be kind of sad if there wasn’t an anime for gen 3. The Battle Brawlers anime is what got me into Bakugan in the first place. It’s cool to me how the Bakugan are able to talk and had their own personalities. I like both the legacy and reboot anime. I wish more people gave the reboot anime a chance. Armored Alliance is really good, but other seasons have interesting episodes as well. (I’m in the middle of Geogan Rising)
I’m currently watching the reboot but it doesn’t compare to legacy.

Another reboot was inevitable. There's no central creative force driving Bakugan as a series or preserving its lore; it has no substance. It's purely a vehicle for producing toys and making $$$, so rebooting again to cycle in new generations of children was likely the best choice.

I mean its just different takes on the characters TMNT and Transformers do it and they care about lore so I dont agree.

I still remember using an actual tin as an arena so bakugan are guaranteed to stand even if they missed the gate cards. I can’t remember the custom rules me and my bf of the time made to do with this but I thought that was cool.
Huh, even as a person who has been with bakugan since the beginning, I was always asking "what the HECK is this HSP on these cards?". And now I'm kinda fascinated with this original idea they had way back in its concept phase with the terrains 🤔 I'll always be an advocate for the TCG, and I've missed it dearly since it was abandoned. I probably won't be picking up much of the new stuff, but I'll be watching to see where things go once these new things hit the shelves! Great job on the video!

This was very interesting, I didnt know that stuff about pre Bakugan battle brawlers. I always wondered what the heck holosectorpoints were lore wise I guess this sort makes sense XD
I really do hope we see Jason Deline as Drago again in the future though and I really hope we have a show and I have hope in that regard.
And I also hope we get a TCG again but I'm not to sure if we will.

as a transformers fan, I'm used to a new banner and "era" every few years. This isnt a reboot per se, just the next genration. like Transformers Armada into Tansformers Energon. Better yet, Cyberverse into Earthspark. I aint mad
Really late to the party, but I think it would be a wise idea on the part of Bakugan’s creators to consider pursuing game modes that aren’t explicitly tied to any sort of TCG-style elements.
For example, since the Bakugan themselves are marble-shaped, why not have a game mode themed around rolling your Bakugan onto a board and seeing which player gets closest to the center of the board? Or maybe a game mode where the objective is to defeat/reclaim all of the Bakugan on a game board?
And these are just some of the ideas off the top of my head. I’m quite certain somebody else could come up with something even crazier or more inventive.
I've been the pretty big fan of Bakugan for quite some time.
However, despite never actually playing the games, I've found a large fondness in just collecting and playing with the marbles. That, hands down, was my main crux for why I enjoyed Bakugan. I later learned the rules and have came to find out that the game was very approachable and there was a fair amount of strategy, but I was mostly still interested in winning without actually battling, using my knowledge of which marbles roll better to win. I later got a hold of the Japanese Bakutech Bakugan and I deemed them my favorite, since it was everything I wanted out of the base game.
Then along came the reboot, and I just couldn't enjoy it. I just don't understand the whole TCG aspect of the game. I still collected a good handful of Bakugan when it suited me, but I gave up on playing *because* of the TCG. I didn't want to build a whole deck, I just wanted to roll marbles and watch them pop out.
This new reboot could easily be my new favorite version of Bakugan to date. I loved Bakutech's bind system SO MUCH, and I think it'll be super cool mixing and matching my favorite Bakugan to create these unholy amalgamations. Again, the lack of a TCG makes the game super approachable to me, and if the game is interesting enough, then I can see myself actually trying to *play* the game.

They did mention halo sector points ONCE in the anime. I dont remember what episode but its in the second hf of season 1.
In the Japanese version in one of the end slates it explains that HSP is used to determine the web rankings in the series.

Just got a couple of the new Bakugan earlier today and I really like them. Especially how the normal bases allow them to stand up on their own easily. The multiple stats are an interesting way to shake up the game. But I wish I got to play the TCG once before it was shelved.
I did get into the series from the TCG but I'll admit I did start to just like them as toys/collectables and started just buying ones I liked... And I get at its core it is still Bakugan and I hope the game is fun for those who like these types of games... It just no longer looks like it's for me and unless it comes out that it's the best thing ever and is actually super deep, I won't be buying into this generation.
I think it mostly hurts because it's another case of telling it's audience, oh it's just on "hiatus" instead of just giving us proper confirmation so we've had lingering hopes for it. Only for it to really settle in by throwing a new generation at us just so they can sweep the TCG under the rug as a real fuck you to it's fans.
Would be nice if this new product could coexist with the TCG but at this point their silence on the TCG speaks louder than words.
Bakugan reboot has been dead for over 3 years now so it was inevitable
With all due respect, I would not be mad about Gen 3, but the problem is that when Bakugan first came out, the standard Bakugan for Gen 1 were 32 millimeters but I do like the Gen 1 Dekas, traps, Drago and Dharak colossus, Mobile assaults, Mechtogan, Mechtogan titans, Drago destroyer, video games, and the McDonald's happy meal toys. Then years later, when they've returned, I noticed that they are 36 millimeters and it was the perfect size for me and then Gen 2 continued with Dekas, Baku gear, fusions, Geogan(traps), Nanogan(Baku Nano), evos, and Novas but we didn't get any Mobile assaults and Mechtogan and Mechtogan titans for Gen 2 because the supreme council doesn't know what they are. Although I am ready for Gen 3 because they'll have the same 36 millimeters so I'll just get to use the hang of it.

Legacy is difficult to get now, but if you can, get into HSP, 3 card capture or gachi modes, they're amazing

Oh there's something in the works. I still stand by everything I said in principal (you don't need a TCG to make a good Bakugan toy), but we are also dealing with Spin Master, a company thoroughly known for ruining toys and treating designers poorly. This was always gonna be designers VS the company. We just now know who won.
@thedaftbrothers, you should have seen the original versions of the Gen 3 gate cards. They looked like some skill and strategy were needed
Okay, So since this video, some more leaks/pictures of new cards for gen 3 have been found. these cards feature artwork of characters with their names. names so far are Dan, Juno, Mia and Backslash. Now because these characters seem to be in a new art style so I'm assuming there will be a show/anime or what ever y'all wanna call it, And if there is a Show, the only thing I really want from it is for the show to FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE GAME, DAMNIT!! Because the battle planet show series felt like glorified Pokémon battles.
I swear my biggest pet peeve with shows like these, I guess they're called "HobbyAni?" is when the show does not follow the rules of the game its trying to advertise. Like imagine watching beyblade and right after the blader's launch their beys, it just turns into a Kaiju fight, or the blader's just immediately have a fist fight, It'd be a horrible way to advertise the toy line and game.
On to gen 3 itself, the way the two halves connect looks to be through a latch which confuses me because I thought they'd use Baku tech's bind system way of connecting, (maybe its a rights/legal issue to use that design, Spin master did try and sue Mecard for using a similar gimmick.) But my main issue so far is the toys look oddly designed, but hey, wave 1 battle planet cores didn't look great either, so still trying to keep an open mind.
A reboot without a series impossible just because Jason deline May have left probably does not mean there’s not gonna be a series and besides they can just find a new voice actor for Drago There’s no point of this new card game and there’s gonna be no series
there was no point to reboot the original Bakugan with a downgraded version and they did that with Gen2 reboot . Lets hope Gen 3 will be as serious and dark as Gen 1
Now that I got my hands on some, my only real complaint is that the old style of unfolding wasn't brough back.
Sure, details are cool and all... but the old-school dragonoid head being blocky actually helped make it feel like you didn't just cram an action figure into a ball, but rather a dragon unfurling itself.
What a poor choice... seems like this is going to be the final nail in the Bakugan Pro coffin.
The TCG was the only hope for this game to thrive imo and was abandoned and neglected by Spin Master before even getting a proper chance to do so. Bakugan Pro was unlucky enough to be slaughtered by a mixture of bad release timing due to Covid and SpinMaster's bad decision-making and awful distribution (if you thought their distribution was bad INSIDE the US, I dare you to try and get the playing cards anywhere outside North America)... I truly believe that the Bakugan TCG was one if not the best TCGs to ever exist because of it being the perfect combination of a strategy trading-card game and a toy battling game (with stunning collectibles and just the perfect amount of nostalgia for us older brawlers)... what a shame :\

Hy ! Good video u got the point i think tcg was pretty good but bakugan dont rly need a tcg yes. BUT i got some of the new bakugans and when i saw they took away the B power system my heart broke a bit. I was collecting toys for me and my son to play and i have some BP and Legends bakugan and i like them like the game around them. but the new Gen3 is like a brand new thing i know thats the whole point but now we have to play old and new bakugan with 2 diferent kinda bakugans XD thats not too nice if u ask me . I understand the new Gen3 toy is okay good looks fun but my opinion previous gens waaaaay better . New bakugan : Pro- looks fun and easy to play . Cons - They completly re branded the toys old and new cant work together in play ........And the biggest Con is i think the new bakugans looks like a half toy XD Half ball thingy and half meh monster .... i got a dragonoid half ball half skinny weird drago XD and i got galaxy nilius half ball half weird dragon thing XD ....... i dunno thats my trauma on the whole gen3 .

Wished the TCG could have lasted longer and produced better so all the Bakumasters would still be doing collabs and playing bakugan. I'm going to miss the 2019-early 2021 era of the community and TCG. But I am very interested with the more I see for this next reboot.

"Bakugan Project 2" is a general Japanese production name for everything season 2. Then there was project 3 for GI and project 4 for MS
Oh...Bakugan---how I simply watched the old version...but the newer version is somewhat confusing to me: Dan Kuso, along with his new friends, I really want to watch the original, not the other generations that came after its predecessor--besides, if I were you, I'd be watching the ORIGINAL Bakugan: Battle Brawlers from the beginning.

So far I don't like the new reboot. I didn't like the last reboot because most of changes seemed stupid and didn't make any sense. The original series is my favorite. In my opinion they should do a continuation of the original series. This new reboot is using rip cords and I don't like it. This isn't Beyblade. How could this company think adding rip cords was a good idea. In my opinion if they're going to do another reboot, they should go back to it's roots and have the original Bakugan and characters. That sounds much better to me and would gladly watch it.
The reboot was a TCG that stood out among other TCGs with its physicality
This new reboot feels like it's going all in on the physicality, which just puts it in the same box as all the other physical toys where Bakugan lacks aspects that make it better. Like, Beyblades are just much more of a satisfying toy to have battles with. Without a TCG, even if there is a system that is analogous to both Gate Cards and Cores, Bakugan just devolves into what it was during the Catch 3 era. A collectible toy set with a mediocre game.

Bakugan without TCG is fun and all. But if u take out the TCG it just becomes marbles with action figures. From what I heard from this new gen, its just add math game now.
The OG Bakugan was iconic because it was a mix of both Marbles and TCG. And it may not be Perfect, it still provided a really briliant TV show for our childhood and an opportunity for a brand new competitive TCG.
Now this feels more like its directed towards the kids and not the OG Bakugan fans. If the new gen were to create a TV show, its probably will be bland that nobody would watch it. Which kinda saddens me a bit. I appreciate a reboot but feel disappointed and betrayed.

I just want better toy quality man if the show is shit then that's fine but most G3 look so ugly in my opinion (besides ventri which I'm buying immediately) the plastic colors and quality need step up imo other than that and the fact that the bottom halves are mostly manual it looks to be okay

Actually, I think there HAS to be a TCG for Bakugan to be compelling, and I honestly hated what they did. It's kind of offensive towards those who kept supporting the card game as much as they could.
Eventhough I agree that it would be nice to have a good Bakugan show.

I really wish they would just keep the new tcg as someone who worked in a card shop for five year and saw literally probably a 100 card games rise and fall very quickly bakugaun was one of the best series of card games I played :/ rip the new series but I guess it gives me more time for clearance sniping I even just kinda wish we could get both games the hollow sectors type game and the gen 2 game
