I've always thought that wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff could explain why Coraline seems to take place over a few days but begin in autumn and end in springtime. They say when you step inside a fairy ring like the one around the well in Coraline, you're either entranced or sucked into another world or something but however it actually happens you're trapped in a fairy celebration which you think lasts one night but when you escape you'll discover that seven human years have passed. Similar time distortion happened in the story of The Magpie Bridge, which I'm fairly certain Kubo and the Two Strings was at least inspired by.

I think you are right that Kubo and the Two Strings was inspired by The Magpie Bridge.P.S love the Dr Who reference.

Wouldn't someone notice that coraline was gone for a while?

An entire island with housing for mythological creatures that don't exist?!
    'Tis nice.

Yes! I love it when Fangirl and All Monsters collaborate. You come up with fantastic theories and ideas. Very interesting the thought that Boxtrolls predate the Beldam. Since I don't believe she's human or at least not fully from when she entered it adds another layer to the folklore for me. I have read stories in the past where trolls and other creatures don't get along. If these trolls were of a tamer sort living in this world away from other creatures to stay safe. Then the appearance of someone as fierce and manipulative as the Beldam could have been extremely traumatic. Also it makes me wonder since there is the fairy ring and the chance of the Beldam being imprisoned, did fairies spitefully put her there because they didn't care about or hated the trolls? Since I think the cat is actually a Puca. Maybe? My mind is swimming right now! Love the theories and thanks for this video.

I confirm with this theory, in fact Coraline and Boxtrolls are one of my favorite movies and seeing that they could have a connection basically makes me happy

Interestingly enough, if Coraline met Winnie, they would have a sisterly connection. To which *THEY ARE!!!!*

This would REALLY cool if Coraline met her sister, Winnie!! 😁

ok so I've only seen the box trolls once, and it was a while ago so this might make litterally no sense but OH MY GOD WHAT IF THE BOY WHO WAS RAISED BY THR BOX TROLLS WAS A VICTIM THEY SAVED FROM THE BELLDAME!! :O

What if the box trolls are Children who the beldam has previously taken from the normal word. She could have taken their love for her but this may have been before the first ghost children were taken so the other mother may not yet have perfected the art of stealing the eyes.after these children she could have gained enough power to steal eyes of other children. Then she would just send the box trolls away through another portal. This is just a theory though. I don’t think there is much proof for it. 😕

That's a really cool theory, and though there isn't much evidence for it, it would make a really good fan-fiction.

Okay okay so when she was talking about the trolls kinda being IMMORTAL but in PJO(Percy Jackson & the olympians or any other greek mythology thing written by Rick Riordon)he has these recurring charectors called the hunters of Artemis they are immortalized when they pledge allegence to Artemis but they can be killed if they die in battle so its pretty easy to get eslyum sp but you have to swear off romantic love

I’ve just watched the first 20 minutes of coraline and I notice that the songs are in a different language or really hard to make out, at least on Netflix, and with subtitles it doesn’t say what the song says unlike most movies and show on Netflix it just says chorus singing maybde it has something to do with the plot?
