On April 25, 2024, approximately 6:53AM, Trp. Bloch notified Troop A Communications that Saline County was in pursuit in the
Bauxite area traveling northbound into Bryant on State Highway 183.
I (Trp. Jacob Byrd) responded to the area of State Highway 183 at Northwest 4th St. where I observed a white Chevy S10
bearing Arkansas ASR81N (V1) fleeing from Saline County Deputies. As V1 passed me, I assumed primary in the pursuit
heading northbound on State Highway 183. Immediately after becoming primary, V1 began driving in the southbound traffic
lanes. To prevent V1 from fleeing any further, I performed a TVI on V1 causing V1 to veer off the roadway to the right. V1 came
to a final stop near the First United Methodist Church in Bryant. After V1 came to a final rest, the driver (S1) of V1 was taken
into custody by Saline County Sheriff's Office (SCSO). Reference SCSO report number: 24-1135
S1 was charged with the following by SCSO:
5-54-125(d)(3) 2023: FLEEING - FELONY - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - SUBSTANTIAL DANGER OF DEATH
27-50-302: SPEEDING - MORE THAN 15 MPH OVER LIMIT
27-50-308: RECKLESS DRIVING - 1ST
27-52-103: FAIL TO OBEY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE (x6)

Yes yes yes!!!! Made a very very rare sighting of a Byrd today !! Feel totally privileged and honored. It's contours and tectrices are light blue, the crown is dark blue with a black stripe around its flank and rump. Travels mostly alone, extremely fast in flight and known to meet up occasionally with only its own kind when protecting its territory. The Byrd shrieks very loudly when looking for attention and has a very distinctive loud call that can be heard for miles around, when in fast flight.There has been no previous sightings of a male and female Byrd together and no rituals of courtship has ever been seen by the male Byrd in public. Its eating and drinking habits are unknown.
Jacob IS the A.J. Foyt of the ASP. Yes, he does the TVI great but he drives like a CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how it is done. WOW. I have heard that the Byrd Family have over 100 years of law enforcement under their "belts" in Arkansas. I am not certain of that as it was in a "chat". However, when I visit Arkansas in future I will drive 55. Sad thing is, I cannot drive 55. In Arkansas I will. LOL. I believe that the Byrd's missed their calling and should be driving at Talladega SS as well as the other tracks. Although, that would be a waste of Jacob's raw talent. I have only seen a few pursuits involving his brother (I believe it is a literal brother?) and they both have skills on the streets, freeways, and interstates that are just fantastic. Thank you for the coverage.

Very nice to see a unit not involved in the pursuit stop traffic at an intersection and then immediately end the pursuit as soon as they get involved.

We see here the Byrd come flying in. It is gracefully gliding into the place, It finds that exact place, sits back on it's perch, watching and waiting for the exact right second to swoop down on the prey. As the prey draws closer, his muscle tight to fly into action. Then the prey is there right in front of him. The byrd then swoops in from his perch and in seconds it is all over, his prey is caught.
That Trooper Byrd just doesn’t mess about does he? 👍🏻

I’ve read a comment that “every state needs a Byrd” and I agree with that statement. But I would like to think that every state has a” Byrd” potentially dozens of law enforcement officers who have the skills to handle a “ p i t “ the problem is many of them ( the states )are reluctant to allow their officers to preform the move, preferring to have the officers just chase the suspect for hours and hope the suspect eventually runs out of gas, or the suspect successfully eludes the police.I would argue that the more fleeing suspects are Pitted and their recklessness ended as soon as possible,the fewer innocent people would be exposed to the danger the suspect is creating.
