I like how Jaheira and Minsc are a package deal and if one of them leaves, the other does too
It's possibly a reference to Baldurs gate 1 where some companions were LINKED and had to recruit both and dimiss both since they're legacy characters.

Same with recruitment. in my co-op game Jaheria died in Moonrise thanks to terrible AI and AOE damage. We couldn't reload so just kept on. When we finally got to Minsc and he was in our mind he saw Jaheria's fate and attacked us. There was no saving him or recruiting him. It was sad and angering.

I wonder why that is? Is it out of "laziness" of the devs or cause they don't care...or is it a lore reason? That gets explained at some point? Never played the whole game, but i don't mind if it's a spoiler.
@@zaynvarenshutain5279 Are you asking why they get enslaved? There is a being inside of the artifact called the emperor that is protecting you from the Absolute. As soon as you leave his sphere of protection, the Absolute will detect you and enslave you using the tadpole in your brain. Since all of the companions have tadpoles, except Jaheira and Halsin, they will all be enslaved.

The reason I can't have Karlach in my party during an evil playthrough is because the very first dialogue she expressed disapproval with me I have to change my ways.
I swear i Trick the goblins to believe i was on their side and went to karlach "No sweety trust me its a Plan"

I have seen it. I had Minsc, Jaheira and Astarion at my party and i replied to Jaheiras kid that: we are all going to die. Minsc and Jaheira Disaproved but Astarion Aproved that dialogue

Some of these lines seem to imply that you had, at one point, deeper connection to them. I wonder if it'll be different if you never had.

however you can also lower companions approval by attacking them constantly, in addition to what you said
Well, I did once get the Jahira one because Isobel stepped in a puddle (that I hadn't even caused) while going to Alyn and died...
when it comes to Astarion, it's basically just being nice to people. save an orphan? Astarion disapproves. help some refugees? Astarion disapproves. offer to help a pregnant lady captured by a hag? Astarion disapproves.
i got wylls approval so low he almost left when i failed the checks talking to the paralyzed tiefling in the grove, she called the guards on us so we just shoved as many tieflings as possible in the chasm in the back until the aggro ended (lol), turns out wyll is omniscient and knows everything that’s happening in the grove even when he’s in camp so i had -50 approval
@@K.C-2049 I found the trick to avoiding losing approval with Astarion is to not SAY we are going to help people in dialogue, but do it anyway in action. Also he hates giving away money but doesn't mind if we give away food.

Some of those goodbyes really stung.
I made the mistake of attacking Kagha, which had the unfortunate consequence of everyone in The Grove dying, despite my efforts to save the teiflings. Because of that, Karlach wouldn't allow me to recruit her & only attacked me. When I spoke to Minthara about everyone in the grove being dead, Wyll permanently left when the goblins partied in our camp. That's NOT how I wanted that game to go.
Needless to say I backtracked to an earlier save (unfortunately everyone in the grove is still wiped out :( much to my disappointment), hoping there's a way to regain some of his approval. If not, I'll start over with that character.
I have suffered one parasite, i can no longer suffer the other 😭😭
I feel they leave quickly so you cannot engage in combat with them and get your items back
Turn-based mode would help with that

As Astarion wanted to ascend I tried to convince him not to, completely forgetting my Tav didn't had good Charismatic features 😂. He said what he said and left, a moment of silence and then I was "OKAY WITH MEEEE YOU DIDN'T WANT ME ANYWAY" 😂😂😂
I got Jaheira randomly right after beating Ketheric. She was just pissed and I dont even know why. So I completly lost the chance to even meet Minsk. Well on my next playthrough hopefully 😢

Actually you can p*ss off Shadowheart quite easily (spoilers)
Just don't take her to prove herself to Shar, basically don't take her on the mission to kill Ser Aylin with you... free Aylin yourself, and then Shadowheart will find you, speak with you, get mad at you and part ways.
I didn't know this was a thing that could happen and that's saying something, because I don't think I've ever done something Astarion approved of.

Thats actually impressive to make enough decisions against the will of companions for this to happen. Minsc even! Also astarion must be hard to get to disapprove of since hes quite tolerant of the evil decisions. Did you need to be really god up to act 3 and then start killing everyone?
Siding with Gortash and making a contract with Raphael should piss all of them honestly
Casting Friends on them repeatedly will lower their approval permanently. But in this case, it's a mod that manipulates approval.

Astarion dislikes when your character is *nice* to people most of the time, so, ironically, a purely good play through is how you get him to dislike you. Needless to say, he has not gotten along very well with my MCs and has been neutral with them at best.
Does that bard chick (I forget her name) have dialogue as well? Only on my third playthrough and it's a dark urge one so while she did actually join me in it... Yeah...
How do you even gain that much disapproval from Minthara? Give food to the starving and pet cute puppies?

Maybe those lines only shows if you're in a romance with them, but I have no idea, and I won't try to experience that either.

I know this is dumb to ask but how does one get approval that low at all? It seems like no matter what i do, evil and good alike, my party has at LEAST neutral. Even when i had to talk gale into staying in the party after slaughtering the teiflings his approval was still medium
I feel like you have to really work at it, like researching all of the disapproval things and making sure to hit all of them. Some of them are easier than others (like excluding Shadowheart from the gauntlet of Shar storyline) but others are probably trickier
