LYRICS:
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
Swipe your thoughts from Broadway
Turn ideals to cabaret
Water dreams of yesterday
Fall behind
All your laughter pissed away
All your sadness pissed away
Now you don’t care what they say
Nor do I
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
They’re all gulls in the sky
They all mimic love’s cry
And I wish I could die
Me or them
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, ya call it, ya call it
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
That’s a televised mind
16 bars for the televised mind
Dublin line for the televised mind
We’re all televised minds
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, what ya call it, what ya
What ya call it, ya call it, ya call it - Hudba
outer range brought me here ! paused the episode to find this master piece
Heard this on the radio and thought it was an obscure 90s song. Like in the era of Prodigy and Blur. Absolutely love it
I must admit the bass line's striking resemblance to that of "Breathe" by The Prodigy, but other than that the two bands are pretty different.
I know what you mean, but the more like the Catherine Wheels album, Ferment.
Besides obvious post-punk influence, Fontaines DC said themselves they got inspiration from Prodigy for that rhythm and bass.
Up the dubs 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪
same here, had to google and was well taken aback
Just heard this on an episode of Outer Range. Shazam'd it because I literally thought, How did I completely miss this record somewhere in 1989 when I was a college radio DJ. 😂 Absolutely epic track. 🔥🔥
That's because this track was released in 2020 (not 1989) off their second studio album, "A Hero's Death". It definitely has a retro 80's sound, but is Post-Millennial.
Great band explore all their music . Their 4th album is coming out in August Newest song is Starbuster
Thanks for the comment ❤, was cracking my head in tryna rmb which TV show this was from. 😂
Every good band has a killer bass wat a opening
Yes yes yes
yes yes yes yes
Dance, dance , dance , dance to the radio. Transmission, Joy Division
it is the guiness advert bassline though lol
Reminds me a lot of Hooky of JD and NO.
Anticipating the release of A Hero's Death and Ultra Mono are making my year better
And Protomartyr's Ultimate Success Today
@@mileslemon Yes! Protomartyr's new album is fantastic, definitely my favourite of the year so far.
Spot on
Both are great! Also, don't forget the Viagra Boys!
Outer Range 🤘
Just heard it on the show now, for the first time.
I was like, “what the fuck is THIS…?!?!”
Me too!!! I was like …😮
I thought it was Killing Joke at first ... Bloody Good Song !!!
... brilliant..... ✨
There is hope. Pure genius.
This is hope??? Get a clue. It's just a song. Not even a good one.
@@rh157 I'll bite. Name a good song then or a few.
Ian Curtis, wherever he is now, is proud of these guys!
Absolutely!
Well, a The Horrors rip off from a decade ago... I think Ian and Joy Division's don't have much to worry about
Amen 🙏🏻
@@andyjennings5190 I agree there's some continuity with The Horrors and JD. I take it as a good thing. I feel there's not enough such good music around.
@@mcmoraes1 Reminds me a little bit of early Pink Floyd
Just fucking sublime. These boys are on point.thanks too them life ain't always empty.fontaines DC.
Touch of Fontaines D.C about this track.
Think you're onto something there
Тоже с
The singers’s voice floats above intense, sophisticated, edgy, intelligent instrument playing.
EVERY instrument in this is played masterfully. That bass sound is phenomenal!
да
if you have absolute no clue about playing instruments, you may state such nonsense. Regardless of that: this is a great song from a great performing band (which does not inevitably need virtuosity, off course).
@@kiliangreeven5936 How was it nonsense? It was my opinion. 🧐
Great playing is not about showing off, but giving the track exactly what it needs. In that regard it is phenomenal.
Don't mind Killian , he's an Irish hipster in denial. He has to give his seal of approval for something to be considered masterful.
That bass intro 🖤
It's not a song, it's a trip
The guy looks like the son of Ian Curtis and young Liam Gallagher but you know whats even more insane?
The sound and lyrical quality of Fontaines DC. Everything just seemingly clicks into the right place.
a hero's death is 2020's album of the year for me
Same here Harry !!
What an amazing band! Rock is not dead! Listening from México!
I am on a long journey, and I will not be back on mother earth until 16th March 2023 but I love listening to this band, their music and lyrics are the best, the use of words reminds me a lot of the great writer James Joyce
Agree 100%! (Listening from Brazil)
Honestly it's one of my most awaited albums this year
It’s one of THE most awaited of the years, the boys have been bubbling just below the surcface
Got mine today. Limited edition blue vinyl . A thing if beauty. I'm saddened, however, when I see what's happening to Ireland at the moment. The demographics are being consciously engineered by a manipulative sinister cabal who are working tirelessly towards the destruction of Ireland, it's people, its heritage, its ancient traditions and culture.
@@jameslast5814 Ireland will be destroyed
I'm under the impression that Dogrel was merely a warming up for the records to come.
And dogrel was phenomenal, but hero's death is shaping up to be spectacular
Fucking MAGNIFICENT.
What a band these lads are.
It recently occured to me they remind me of The Smiths, in the way they have an incredible riff laden and bass/drum rhythmic foundation over layed with an incredible distinctive vocal and lyric.
I can't wait for more and the chance to catch this amazing band live again.
These guys really have developed their own style both musically and aesthetically
So the second album didn’t disappoint. One of the best albums I’ve heard in years. Such an exciting band. Got to see them live at some point.
third one even topped that
Horrors vibes off this one, love the simplistic repetitive nature of it, all their tunes feel like they have real momentum. Album gonna be huge
Most def
I think that the repetitions of "that's a televised mind" very quicky create a sense of habitued for the one who's listening : But the fact that they don't say it 4 times, as we would expect stresses us. Same with the "What ya call it". It's brutally interrupting and therefore, scary. The guitar also adds to this, and the drums make you feel as if you are being chased.
Aaron Watson sounds like something off primary colours for sure
Exactly my thoughts when watching this on TV for the first time! Mostly the guitars
@@santebastien4603 I think what he meant by Horrors was this band called the Horrors, not actually the feeling of "horror"
Born in 74, raised in the 80s and rocked hard in the early 90's. Super fussy when it comes to quality sounds and originality. This band is "by far" the best thing to come out of Ireland in a very looong time "rock wise" Super impressed, well done lads! Some absolute bangers, that sound takes me back to those simpler times. It's a TELEVISED MIND!
'74 to da core bono's corpse writhes on the floor far from the rutabagas in some grotto in vegas
Same
I love their simplicity, the scent of eighties new wave, the intelligence of the lyrics, and the name of the record company.
Absolute masterpiece, underrated. I love it
Production is insane, the guitars are fire. Huge tune!
Nothing makes me happier than this kind of music being popular/staying alive!! Proper Blur vibes
Have we been listening to the same blur 😂😂
blur 😂 😭
I don't he slightest blur vibe off em
Which Blur song?
Can’t stop playing this band . When I’m not listening to them they’re still playing in my head. Best band in an age.
televised MOYND!
Newly discovered..amazing sound..very Joy Division with a modern twist..and that’s the highest compliment I can give
I was born in '74. I grew up with two much older sisters. So I got Loveboat and Talking Heads. I listened to every type of music eversince. And I was lucky to be around the Grunge era at about seventeen. Its important for a generation to have a musical eruption that's being kept alive. My past generation didn't have that. I hope this song will do that too for the current generation. This is so good.
Talking Heads! One of the best!
this band is like a division of joy
It's the flat vocals and flanged guitars and high reverb that is making you think that. Put that on anything and it sounds like Joy Division.
@@isntimportant lol
you seem smart
Just discovered this band last night and now listening to this. So goooood!
they are amazing. welcome to the fold
Mate, their whole debut album Dogrel is incredible!!!
Popped up this morning, really cool sound
31 days until the full album drops...all three songs released so far are bangers, worthy of any "Best of Mid-2020" list. Fontaines and Idles are the sound of this young decade so far.
I just wish idles weren't such virtue signalling preaching bores. And their overly happy live thing as well... just find it uber cringe. Just play the tunes and leave the manifesto at home. Nothing worse than a band trying to push their politics on you and the overly happy thing... Well there are millions out there who aren't going through a super happy times. I like a lot of of their music but I just cannot stand all the preaching. Cut out all that bs and they've got a solid act.
Loving the guitar sounds in this
czcams.com/video/uumG_T3MKZo/video.html
This song sounds like the soundtrack to movement of some sort. Like a revolution. I love music and the feelings I get when I hear tracks like this.
Up the fontaines
There is a revolution happening right now
This band are on fire. And what a frontman.
Yea, he's got "it".
Phenomenal song
Been legitimately hitting reftesh on my feed non stop since it aired on Radio 6, needed to hear it again. Can't wait to hear more
same
It`s getting a few plays on Radio 1 also....which is good ! :)
Just brilliant
Life ain't always empty
"There are doves in the sky
They mimic loves cry"
Love it!
ok, the cross instruments harmonies got me, liked and subscribed.
Heard this first on Radio 6 and was captivated straight away. What a great song! I absolutely love it. Their new song "Jackie Down The Line" is also superb. Keep up the great work.
People who listen to 6 Music are the coolest people in the UK.
I don't care what kind of vibes have got these guys, they really sound awesome!
Honestly just keeps getting better and better! These new singles have been the only bright spark from an unbearable few months!! Banging lads
Indeed!!!
MASTERPIECE!!!
Modern day classic
most compelling. the band keeps growing on me. I hear the music differently almost every time I listen. Once I adjusted to their unique style I started really reaping the rewards. Grian Chatten is an amazing song stylist. you don't usually think of rock and post punk band leads in this vein but it's totally apt.
I mentioned Grian partly because how much he stands apart as a rock vocalist. But the entire band is amazing. Some of the choicest guitars, spot on drums. And it all converges in a most auspicious manner.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Fontaines DC and Idles are the two best bands around at the moment.
and the murder capital
And IST IST
don't forget about black midi
And Shame
Protomartyr been making God's work too
THAT ABSOLUTE BANGER WESH
Fontaines, murder capital, just mustard and soo much more. The Irish music scene is alive and well!!! As for the post punk scene well it just keeps getting better SHAME, SLAVES and Wolf Alice just to name a few.
Get on The Clockworks mate, best irish band along with these, just not released much yet
Ah in reality Bogman records is the cream if the crop like
Slyrydes ifrom Galway in that mix too.
James Cooper Odd Morris too
@@jamescooper3739 will do!!! gotta love the community behind these bands
They've breathed life back into rock music
Such a good band
So refreshing to hear quality music that's so new, just proves it can be done still in the era of shambolic pop music. Fontaine's DC, Sleaford mods all bands like this are the heroes of guitar and alt music.
Been here since the start, watched a band grow on CZcams and now it's all coming together. Well done lads, happy for you, shame you have to get big in the UK to get any recognition back home. Still, I'm here cheerleading on the home turf!
My professor recommended this group to me, just one song and I'm already loving it.
WHAT ? this is bangin
From interview with two of the band and the producer/engineer, this is the first and only take. Sublime.
What makes the track stand out, is the atmosphere, produced very well!
An instant classic. You know when you here something first time and you cant get enough. Maybe 2020 isn't so bad after all. Respect lads.
Had to find this after I heard it on Outer Range too. Was for sure thinking it was 80s. Obsessed. Great song will check out other tracks.
instant Classic
Every song by these boys is a banger I’m so glad to hear more!
Only heard these lads on the radio for the first time last week , Shazamed them , I didn’t realise they were a new band I thought they were old , and to top it off they come from my hometown Dublin , looking forward to more music from these bunch
Like all great things in life there’s a striking contrast about them. Grian’s angelic voice and lyricism against the backdrop of the thrashing and hell-laden music. It’s beautiful, really.
so great to finally hear a studio version, absolute banger
a little Gang of Four with a splash of Ian Curtis
Listening to this awesome tune just makes 2020 seem a bit better...
The Irish have a sense of pain and sadness wrapped around there soul which's beat through their hearts and comes out so strong in there music!
That's why some of the most acclaimed British and American musicians are Irish diaspora. The Beatles, Oasis, Morrissey and Marr, Billy Corgan, Kurt Cobain, I could go on.
*their, *hearts. Sorry, not trying to be a dick.
Thanks for pointing this out, cheers.

One of the most important Irish bands of all time, they get it.
One of the songs of the year.
Insane tune!!!
German radiostation RadioEins is playing that song pretty often. I love that Song.
No wonder they're playing this often. I love this song too. Greetings from Poland🙂
Slovak radio station Radio FM playing also!
Italian station radiofreccia is spammin hero's death. I discovered them cause of radiofreccia.
Lajos Németh one of the best radio around! Despite I do not speak any slovakian...
@@knopflock You are absolutely right!Austrian FM4 is also very good around here.👍
Again , another out of the world song, these guys will not make a bad song, its amazing. Thank you!
Coming across this band has been my favourite part of lockdown.
Just heard this yesterday. Last album ordered and new album pre-ordered within 10 minutes. Great stuff.
Top 10 of best intro ever
Yes.... I am right with you.
Massive! This was a standout during their last tour, and I'm rather chuffed, it's here in official form. Sounds a bit like somebody's been listening to Prodigy, Spaceman 3 and all around psych goodness. This new LP is gonna be a banger with that same Fontaines delivery, but with expanded sounds.
Holy shit I can't wait for this record. This is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wooo so cool! Can't wait for a live show again.

I'm too old to love this as much as I do, but there it is. Best song, best album, best band in YEARS. And best video. Artsy.
Why is this not being played over and over and over... ? Well... some of us recognize it for what it is. Timeless and the best ever.
@@lesleymorgan01 Quality is not for the masses. That is why you find pearls like this rarely in the charts. It is what it is. 🤷🏻🙌
Lesley Morgan, great songs don't concern themselves with the age of the listener. Born mid 60s and love this!
I won't be around to know - I don't think - but I predict that 50 years from now this will be a defining song for this time.
Are you too old to read new books? No. So why are you too old for new music. Why deprive yourself of Art . Enjoy 🤗

El viernes los ví en vivo en CDMX antes de ver a Arctic Monkeys y ahora estoy obsesionada, me encantaron!!! 🖤💫⚡⚡
What a song, it's so cool to have a rock band like Fontaines DC on the current scene when all is trap, pop and reggeaton.
Agreed mate.
If you think the music scene is nothing but those three genres, you’re in for a rude awakening.
Oh my mate! Just listen the music you like and enjoy it, no one cares about how angry or disappointed you're with the music industry today
Is this home
Balls out
Love the song reminds me of the '80s
This was part of their setlist on their winter tour last year, knew it would be a hit!!!! Superb band !
that BASS
This is fucking class
This is a masterpiece. Thank you guys!
The poets and creativity is really on show in this tune the delivery on some words and repeat sounds are cleverly done, finally a band who are not afraid to do something original while still holding on tightly to there sound. Up the dubs! Can’t wait to hear the rest of the new tunes 🤩
This is just an insanely good track.
this song is dark and beautifully powerful!!!!!
SO F'ING BRILLIANT!!!
What a tune🔥 Can’t wait for the album!!!
this album is going to be insane
The bass and guitar with those major and minor notes so closely together is a masterpiece ❤
best track I've heard for a long time! Thanks! It's amazing!!!
