What shrine hacks do you know? Let me know in the comments! I'll give you a shout out in part 2.
All of them can be cheesed by the hover bike
There's going to be a part 2?!?! You explained so much in 1 video
Throwing Rocket with spear to hit targets
Try the ascend-elevator using ultra hand and ascend
This video makes me feel stupid for solving the shrines correctly.
Don’t be. Think of it as a challenge. If you ever decide to do them again you can explore more options next time.
Exactly
If it makes you feel any better, I find it fun solving puzzles the 'correct' way, simply because it's interesting trying to interpret what the game, and by extension the devs, are trying to tell you
😂😂correct
SAME
This game breaks itself just by existing as is on purpose.
I love it.
They knew we would break it anyway so they just made it more fun
i do love how they let you clear shrines in your own ways.
To be fair, "Build a bridge" is legitimately one of the most basic, but trustworthy solutions to most Shrines.
This 100%. I got the bridge schematic pretty early and was like "really". Two shrines later and it was my most used autobuild for the rest of the game right after the hover bike.
@@stevecole90099but you can’t use auto build in shrines
I don't care how a shrine is solved, as long as that piano jingle plays I'm good!
agreed
And I get the chest icon on the map.
@@soundspark Yes, well said!
My favorite is always a combination of ultrahand and recall. I can make just about anything carry me over to the end of the shrine.
That makes me think of the platforms in any Mario game that move back and forth
And then you can use that to ascend through ceilings that would usually be too high.
@@greenberrygk Sucks that you can't ascend through the ceiling of the depths besides at designated points, though. I couldn't find a valid unintended spot it would work at, anyway.
@@greenberrygkŹZZZ_êE
All these shrines assume you enters in bare hands. If you have many tools, that's another story
There is the one shrine that strips you of everything when you enter. I passed on it for now, will come back when I have more hearts.
@@soundsparklet’s just say there is at least one that does this.
@@soundsparkthose mostly were combat ones at least the ones I’ve done.
All these shrines assume you won't flip the "MacGyver mode switch"!
@soundspark
there are several of those. They are all combat oriented.
They are probably the simplest yet most challenging shrines without your stuff.
As the prototypical zonai device, octo balloons broke a lot of shrines in BotW too.
I’ve found out that rock salt works the best for pressure plates, it seems to be one of the heavier materials that everyone has plenty of and you only need to throw down one instead of multiple like other materials
I beat the last room "Aginst the flow" shrine in death mountain like this:
Normally ur supposed to attach a fan to a lava slab across a giant lava lake to reach the end. But with built limit amount of lava slabs, you can make a bridge jjjuuuussstttt long enough to reach the end. It's a bit frustrating to build given the limited space, but it definitely works. The only reason I did it was to prove to my dad that my stupid ideas can work, lol. I think it was intentional that the pool was just long enough for a build limit bridge.
You make the phrase "think out of the box” to a whole new level.
I didn't expect a zelda game to allow so many fun options based on their physics engine.
This is why the game is so awesome. Everyone can come up with unique ways to clear the shrines.
Thank you! I have a list of shrines I’ve struggled with. Never thought to use a bomb! Finally a use for the Oct balloons!
So many awesome ideas. I think with all the possible combinations in TOTK the next years will bring a lot of good stuff to the speedrunning community.
I often do the shrines the way they’re supposed to even if i know i can just cheat it, because i know the things a lot of the shrines teaches me has been useful knowledge later on.
you can also just throw heavy object to the targets to activate it, like rock sword or something. I also tried a rocket spear and it also works.
Spring-Shields can also launch nearly any enemy backward (which is handy when fighting foes near water for an instant-kill)
I remember in BoTW the shrine where you had to tilt the entire board to get through the maze. I turned the board upside down and flung the ball into the hole (either that, or it rolled into the hole. It’s been a while since I did that shrine in that game).
Omg I always hated that shrine plus every other motion controlled shrines. I was relieved to hear that there was an easier way
Haha same🤣
I wish I saw this before completing all the shrines.
Same, I'm looking forward to using these tips in master mode though
you can use pretty much any object that can be attached to a lever to pull the lever, i found myself using tiny icicles and tiny enemy clubs in the Wind Temple
Some of these shrines make you feel like you need to do alternative ways and I think that’s how they were designed to be. Multiple ways to solve puzzles. I like it.
Frost Emitter at an angle + Stake also makes infinite ice when pointed at water (same works for Hydrants with lava)
Man I'm always humbled by these types of videos
I could never think of this in 1 million years this is incredible absolutely incredible
All these shrines assume you won't flip the "MacGyver mode switch"!
TehCactusPlant has a series like this except he does every shrine in a very impractical way (he also did it in BOTW)
FINALLY someone who understood the abilities of recall and warping through ceiling 🎉
Same for me, but if you go for a electric stuff during the shrine at 1:48, I recommend you to wear any electric resistant clothing, or even if you have a High-Level electricity resistance food recipes to withstood against them. But for the Bomb Shields? Well I'll go for the Spring Shields if thanks to "Morok Shrine" for having that as a "Best First Carry" though.
The thing is there is no correct way of solving any puzzle. Each way is valid, otherwise they would have just removed everything from the inventory at the beginning of the shrine, like proving grounds
It’s still a good way of displaying the interactive sim part of the game.
Thanks you ❤ it’s sometimes pretty hard to complete shrines but not anymore
I love that one laser shrine that does the first Resident Evil movie justice
When you said “fuse a cart to your shield so you can turn your game of Zelda into Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2”, I instantly got Cyclone by Dub Pistols in my head
“LIVIN IN A CYC-A-LONE”
In the second shrine of the video, you dont need octo baloons. just use ultrahand to levitate de sphere, and then recall it from above to make te sphere levitate again and then use ultrahand. in fact, you can break most of the shrines using ultrahand and recall.
This is what is called resourcefulness. The fact that you enter with your inventory untouched in contrast to proving grounds shrines, stands for intentionality of this state i think. The more room you give player, the longer it stays interesting, also Link is not on some fair play joyfull adventure, but have a dire situation to solve, the end justify the means.
This mans be drinkin' the tears of software developers for hydration.
Early on, I found a shrine where you have to guide a large ball through an obstacle course using the Large Wheel. You are supposed to fuse platforms to it to create a makeshift paddleboat, but that one went right over my head, so I created a rickety gondola by placing the wheels on top of the walls segmenting off the water.
In the very last shrine featured in this vid, I used platforms and the column to create a makeshift finger to poke the target, fused it to the end of the on-rails platform, and used Ultrahand to push it .
I did one yesterday where I couldn't find the small key (it was suspended high up), so I solved the 2nd half first. Swinging a large ball with ultrahand behind a locked gate, shooting the rope with an arrow to have it land safely and open the door. Still took a minute to locate the key chest 😁
This makes TotK an immersive sim
I feel like there is not a right or wrong way. Sometimes the shrines gives you little to no tools to solve a puzzle, and if you figure it out a way to make it work, it's ok. That's how the game was designed
Great info! Generally, I do try to figure out what they intended for us to do, but sometimes I just say, ‘oh, hell no’ and cheese it any way I can.
Blows my tiny mind how crafted this game it. Absolute masterpiece. You are a genius too
So grade 10 physics does actually have a practical use. Nice.
The time bomb is super helpful. I just used a rocket shield or two for whatever that rail shrine was.
I just love this game its so amazing
7:40 impacts only apply when not using ultrahand, use recall on it however gets around it.
This man needs an award 🙏🙏
If you have a gate that closes if you do somthing it is sometimes possible to just block it with a platform from an earlier room
Cool new video format/name.
Another way to cheese most shrines is to attach somthing to an arrow and then after it hits and lands attach somthing to it and recall the wood and it will travel back along its path if you shoot it up you can rase things up and you can use it to move things across where you aren't supposed to
It took me so long to realize that this is Bro Code's gaming channel I subscribed a few months ago :D
1:08 Oh my why haven't I thought about being able to use octo baloon that way @@ thanks bud, this could be a great subtitude method for the rocket
In botw, there was this one shrine where I had to activate a circuit to get a gear, to finish a gear chain. i used 20 shock arrows instead.
If the gate is too far from where you need to activate the circuit and it's not in line-of-sight for an arrow, use a Shock Fruit/Electric Chu-Chu Jelly + Time Bomb from a capsule, hit the bomb, then sprint to the door
I notice that anything that has infinite balls or objects going downhill, they actually just respawn every time they despawn (like fall into a void). By preventing them from despawning, the infinitely generating objects just stops.
Tauro
If you need to complete a circuit with a big gap, the electric Chu-Chu jelly has a bigger 'blast radius' than a shock fruit (as all you need to do is make sure the effect touches both sides for some)
as far as I'm concerned, you still solved the puzzle!
That railcar one I solved the wrong way. I put a rocket on one side, the right side, and ended up not only doing a sick drift on the rails but passed the last part of the puzzle!
The one where you ascend through the floor is, afaik, the intended solution to that shrine, if it's possible to make something that can clear that distance and land on top it's not obvious how, whereas you can ride one of those gliders exactly as is and then ascend through the floor.
ummmmmmmm..... did you know that you can control a glider without a steering stick by moving to different parts of the glider? left=left, right=right, middle = slow speed buildup, and slow descent, forward = fast speed buildup and fast descent, and back= a slow, desparate attempt to stay in the air which results in a slow descent in place. hope that helps!
@@conorgalvin4289 I did, the distance in that shrine is too vast and there aren't extra parts to improve your glider either. It simply is destined to fall short. I legitimately spent time over engineering trying to find something I could stitch together that would cross the gap better without resorting to smuggling goods into the shrine and made no meaningful progress. You go underneath on purpose and ascend up, that's the puzzle.
Go back to that shrine, did you notice how you got up to that platform with the wings?
Yes that’s right, there were 4 fans or more on the floor that you could use ultra hand to pick up and bring it to the wing.
Of course you could also beat it by just using a rocket shield near that final part
@@onewayraildex4827 Now, unlike last guy, this is a fair criticism. For whatever reason, I think the awkwardness of plucking them, I didn't think the fans were meant to be used in this part of the puzzle, and solved it without it. Considering you can just solve this puzzle with Ascend and the stock gliders that are being readily launched, that still feels like the intended solution to me though.
@@Meguminimal There's 4 fans, but to be fair, they're well hidden. I didn't notice them at first either.
You can also fuse a weapon with a metal ball in the shrine. Throw the fused weapon at the target and it will also activate
They want you to be the smart ass. No way they don't think about me placing the freaking log/stone on the pressure plate.
For that target puzzle I always just smacked the ball against the target with ultra hand and used rewind to make it go green
This game is a master piece
That one shrine where you have to hit the target with the the three balls nearly killed me. I sat there traing for over an hour until i decided "F it" and just left
There's been many shrines where I've thought I'm absolutely not doing this the intended way.
Wow all these shrine solution sure are impractical
for the scoop shrine (the one your doing at 0:52) what i did was simply just stack alot of the orbs climb the ladder then bring one up
its so interesting how runes in totk are broken when used for intended purposes properly
Compared to botw where its only Stasis that was the main broken ability
Bro. The fact you make coding and gaming videos (yes, I just found out) makes you my favorite youtuber
I'm going to try the bomb trick on that weird baseball target shrine.
4:30 The funny thing is I actually did have to ascend in that shrine because I'm terrible at piloting planes
"THE LAST ONE MAY SURPRISE YOU"
omg ^^
5:40 For this you can shield-jump with a wing attached to the shield, the jump is higher.
looks like I'm being using those techniques
You should totally make a 6-hour video of every Shrine done in the "worst" possible way.
These were really interesting.
I wouldn't want to live anymore after filming that 😂
"Carry wood on you at all times"... err that shouldn't be a problem...
Comment for the algorithm lol not that you need it. Love this
I remember one in the Gerudo region where you have to go through quicksand then hit a switch that makes the shrine orb needed to complete the shrine appear only for it to immediately get launched all the way to the other side of the shrine by one of those piston things and wants you to do more quicksand stuff. I just said fck it and Recalled the thing alllllll the way back. Also in shrines with light panels that need the beam of light from a mirror to activate, I'm fairly sure I've triggered one or two of them with Dazzlefruit in some way.
I tried dazzlefruit on those light panels, but I had no luck :(
I might have to take another look
lmao I remember the shrine you're talking about... it was a whole ordeal to get the orb back. The idea of just recalling it back after realizing all that bs you'd have to do is hilarious
😂 I recalled that shrine too. So satisfying skipping all that bs
@jonolivier9126 I'm working on part 2. You gave me some good ideas. Can I shout you out in the next video?
@@ChocoBro1 Sure, why not.
You can skip most of mirror + light puzzle with dazzlefruit, work best with multi arrow bow( lynel, korok/forest bow,...) i think.
this game is awesome. It's like you can almost do anything.
I never knew bomb flowers could activate those plates
I completed 142 shrines before learning you could use bombs on the targets. 😅
That means you were only 10 shrines away from doing all of it
Developers: “That’s not how you’re supposed to do it! God, we spent years on making these shrines puzzle!”
A bunning campfire waighs more than 1 wood
You are a genius! LOL
Sometimes Im just to lazy to solve the shrine, This is a great video
The well shit one you can do a shield bomb jump or rocket shield
Hold on- You're telling me this was the WRONG way to solve them? I thought I was doing it as intended
If they didn't want you doing it that way, the devs would have taken all your stuff at the beginning.
Is there an audio desync in this video, or is that just an issue on my end?
4:23 that's actually how I solved that shrine
I’m pretty sure that’s how you’re supposed to solve it. I don’t think it’s possible to make it over there without losing altitude.
I've been relying on the skills and the objects the shrines provided.
This thumbnail made my brain forget how to think.
I did like 15 shrines doing wrong things that I doubt anyone did like me, and I guess other people did them differently too xD
use rocket shield jump multiple times in the air. that looks cooler
this video is fucking awesome
I love the number of shrines I "solved" by making Recall Elevators.
Technology there is no wrong ear way if you get the job done. They just want to test your creativity!
I actually did the same thing for the shrine at 6:32 - I couldn’t figure out how else to solve it. I’d be curious to hear what you’re supposed to do!
Use recall on the ball and disable it when the ball is between those bridges, that way you devoid ball of momentum and it just falls down. What you're supposed to do? Put the ball into depression ;) End justify the means.
" I know I did that the wrong way " is what ive been saying lately.
