Super cool tip about sanding mitered edges and using a screwdriver. Looks great! Thanks for sharing this!
You did an amazing job on that project and nothing you could buy off the shelf would look as good ! Way to go.
Great to see you spreading the glue across the whole work surface...much better! Great stuff, keep it coming. Love your skills and creativity.
Its beautiful Melissa. And the decor just made it so much more.
Love your work Melissa. Thank you for practical instruction on interesting projects. . Happy New Year, ....a new (and better) year with many new projects.
Simple design yet beautiful finish and decorating.
Thank you for showing how to make a beautiful wooden mantle. You did a great job explaining your process!
Looks good! French cleats work well in these applications. After decorating, brings everything together nicely
Looks great!
Nice to see it fully completed. Looks fantastic. Would have loved to seen it with a fire going and all the Christmas stuff.
Beautiful, and the mantel too.
Excellent job, great job explaining the steps.
Very helpful hint on making the miters look tight. I’ll give it a try. Thank you and God’s peace be with you.

Beautiful sis!!!!!😮😮❤❤❤
Really looks good!
So pretty.
Great job!
56 years old, and just learned something! :-] Had never heard that trick about joining mitered edges. I always caulk my joinery to finish it, but this may be worth trying, so easy!
Nice! Well done.
nicely done!!!
It really turned out nice and I learned something when you related about using the screw driver to smash the edges----Its nice to follow you around--Have a great New Year! from Nevada.
You have to watch Insider Carpentry. Smart as whip he is. Borderline genius.
Very nice job on the mantel. Love the way you breakdown the project on the video, very knowledgeable, and made this a very enjoyable video!!! I'm a fan!
great job
Looks great and thank you for mentioning mistakes even though you don’t see them
good job 😀
That screwdriver technique sounds like a good idea for the corners. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Mark, I learned that screwdriver trick from a German cabinetmaker over 50 years ago, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't so I find it best to test on an inconspicuous spot first.
Beautiful...
Congratulations...
Looks great. Your voice is very soothing.
Well done.
Nice!!
Looks like a nice floating mantel. Good job Melissa, and a belated Merry Christmas to you!
Great job Melissa!!! Hope you had a Merry Christmas🌲👍🌲
Good job merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
So cool
It turned out beautifully! Good luck!
Fantastic 👏 job
Great clean look. From a veteran carpenter 💪🏾
Beautiful ❤️
Well done a fantastic job
Good Job!
I’m impress!
That's pretty much how I did my 3 floating shelves. Although I used pallet wood instead of pine boards. I wanted a more rustic look. But I like the look of yours with the white-washing. I stained one of mine with Minwax English Chestnut stain and the other 2 I left natural since I used boards with different color depths on those 2.
My brackets are mounted directly into studs with 3" lag screws. I also used glue on the joints between the runner (long part mounted to the wall) and the fingers (parts that stick off the runner) as well as 3" screws. Overbuilt.....definitely. Will they ever fall.....probably not, lol.
Very nice
Just lovely !!! wonder how you come up with all these ideas ???
I'm hiring !!!! Looks fantastic
You did a great job!!! I'm going to try and duplicate it.
Thx for the video .... always enjoy ur project .... something well help ur glue up is tape
Great work thats what im planning also for my wall, keep up the great work 😎👌
Awesome job! ~watching from Norfolk, Virginia~
Nice!
First 1,000! Love your content!
Hi, that looks really really great. I just bought a house and I'm doing the same thing. Your videos of very helpful I appreciate that. Thank you. Ben Ferguson.
Sieht super aus. 👍
Awesome work , you are beautiful as well
wao you are strong and i like it alot lol keep it up!
Spencer on Insider Carpentry has a few great videos on beam making. It would be similar to mantles. I would have personally stained it a darker color to hide the wood putty and brad nails, but the natural color looks great as well. Maybe even burning it. Idk so many ideas! Lol looks great! Keep up the good work. :)
Nice design. It should work great with a hardwood outer finish wood like Oak or Alder too.
Hope you had a merry Christmas. STAY SAFE
Your project looks amazing. I'm building a desk using glue in numerous areas. I read not to spread glue with fingers as oils will weaken it. hmmm .. never knew that but it does make sense. The article said to use a small brush for spreading the glue. I tried it and liked the process. Water cleanup was easy. Just thot I'd pass the info along.
I didn't know doing the oils on skin break down the glue, I've usually just used my fingers lol. Thanks for the info!
Nice
good job, looks great, would be even better with a nice oled tv
Good video and project!
Edit: Have you thought about applying a hardwood veneer to the front? Maybe maple or another light colored wood?
Your voice is so calming.
mantel looks great, French cleats is also an easy option.
What size screws did you use for the 2X4 and to screw the base into the wall?
I watched a LOT of mantle videos. Your video was so easy to follow as someone who doesn’t know anything about carpentry. I actually get really inspired and felt like I could actually do this myself. Thank you!!!
Ps. Would this work for a brick fireplace???
I'm really impressed with your ability.
Did you have any background in construction or anything? As always, nice work!
I love this! We are looking for our forever home/fixer upper starting this week and I am day dreaming of fun projects and I am definitely adding this to the list! Great video. It looks so good with that stain and the decorations
I love this! I am wondering what you used on your faux concrete finish on the wall?
What is the height of your mantle from floor to bottom of mantle? Thank you so much for this tutorial... you did a beautiful job.
Where did you get the already cut wood boards? Thanks!
nice job...what s are the size? thank you❤
I really love your videos. You could teach 75% of other you tubers how to edit. You’re step by step instructions are concise and informative. Plus, if you don’t mind my saying so, you’re not too hard to look at. Happy Holidays!
