What's your guitar playing journey Randy that has led you to such a beautiful collection.
Hi John, that’s a video in and of itself, for sure. I remember the first time I ever picked up a guitar. I was around 8 years old. I do remember that I wasn’t trying to impress a girl, but was legitimately drawn to it. I owned a few over the years, but the obsession started when I met Scott Baxendale. It was then when I realized the craftsmanship story. Even when I owned a recording studio, I didn’t fully appreciate what went into these works of art. In fact, I equate this quest similar to an art collector, and it’s equally expensive 😂. Once I grasped the talent that it took to build a sweet sounding guitar, I was hooked. That appreciation started about 5 years ago, when I first spoke to Scott. I owe that guy a lot, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Randy, is Scott the chap who made guitars for Justin Townes Earle and Jason Isbell, among others?
@@graham1745 yes sir, that’s him.
Would love to listen to you tell your story. 🎸🍻
I’ll put it on the list, John 👍🏻
Wonderful getting to know your favourites... incredible the amount of knowledge you know... and so lovely of you to share it with us dear one... you so enriched my evening... you surely have an amazing collection 🙏🌹
Very kind of you to come and visit, Ms Therese! There’s just something about a musical instrument 😁
Wonderful guitars my friend! Love them ALL!!! Thanks for sharing your work for us Randy! Greetings, jimmy
Hi Jimmy, afraid I’ve not been a good CZcams friend lately, but travels have been occupying a lot of my time. I’ll be back to visit soon, as you are one talented guitarist and I love listening to your versions of fingerstyle! As always, I really appreciate your insights and you’re welcome for the share, brother man 👍🏻
That's some mighty good sounding picking Randy !!! And some really nice guitars 🎸 Thanks for sharing !!!
Hi Jimmy, thank you, brother man 👍🏻
Very nice video. I loved the tune you played too. It would be hard for me to pick but the Mossman and the Exellente were my favorites.
Hi David 10:46 , thank you, brother man. I can’t argue with your assessment. It’s one of those hair splitting decisions, right?
Hi Randy, thought it was time I stopped by left some love on your channel, and love all of your info on guitars, nice channel my friend 🎸 🎼 🎤👏
Hi Jaykle, that is very kind of you. I’m afraid I’ve been preoccupied with business travels for a few months now, hence the reason we haven’t really connected. But, I’ll be playing catch up over the weekend. Thanks so much for taking time out to visit and leave your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm you're welcome and all is good I understand fully have a great weekend 😁 🙏 👍
wow - congrats (very good explanation and sound )
Thank you, Darius 👍🏻
Great sharing my dear friend Randy!! Very informative video of yours!!
Love and respect Kyle!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Thank you, my wee brother man, Kyle 👍🏻
Hey! Greetings from Brazil! What a dream collection!! Love your videos!!
Thank you, Josias! I really appreciate the feedback, brother man 👍🏻
Hi Randy!! Boy am i envious of your great collection of guitars!!!!😅 That Mossman blew me away!! Wow i Loved that one!!! And of course that Epiphone sounded wonderful, but that Mossman was my favorite!! Great video!! Thanks so much for the awesome review!! Hope all is well😊
Hi J-Lyn, that Mossman is one special guitar, for sure. It’s getting close to Christmas, so now is the time to start hinting to Mr J-Lyn 🤔. Always appreciate you visiting and sharing your thoughts, ma’am 👍🏻
That’s an impressive collection sir!
Thank you, Justin. Very kind of you to come and visit, brother man 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your favourites from your collection of awesome guitars Randy, for me the Mossman grabbed me the most but they are all wonderful sounding guitars but I can understand why the Mossman is your number 1, anyway great video my friend well done 🎸🎸🎸🎸👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
Hey Trevor, there really is something special about the Mossman, eh? Always a pleasure to hear what you think. I hope the new place is getting settled for you, brother man 👍🏻
What a collection, Randy. I like the Excellente, though, I think that one just edges it. Great video as always. 👍🏴🎸🇺🇸
Hi Graham, a lot of folks seem to agree with you in the comments. Much appreciate you taking the time to listen to the video and also share your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
That 12th Root sounds amazing. All of them are beautiful sounding guitars.
Hi Shaun, the 12th Root is most assuredly a special guitar. As I recall, that guitar was 6 to 8 months in the making. Robert was the only guy to touch that guitar, so no assistance on that one from anyone. I spec’d it and he knocked it out of the park. Thank you for noticing how great that guitar really is, brother man 👍🏻
Watching now!
All 4 guitars sound and look awesome, Randy 🙂 You have a good taste since it´s your top 4.
Thank you, Ms Jenny 👍🏻
I'm gonna have to practice this arrangement if picking. It's beautiful, Randy.
Hi Brooke, it’s no step for a stepper, and you’re a stepper 😁. Just curious, did you hear a favorite guitar?
@randysrhythm 😅😅😅 cute. I'm gonna say the first guitar u played. I'm not good at memorizing the names.
@@brookegentleobannonmusic That was the Mossman. It’s my top guitar 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm it has a good sound. They all do!
Beautiful guitars!
Thank you, Mason! Always appreciate hearing from you, brother man 👍🏻
Ok Brother Randy, I had to run this through a few times, because while they are unique to one another, they all sound great. But that Mossman just has the real stuff. My runner up is the Excellente , another personal favorite.
Great video, great playing!! 🙏🎸😎
Hi brother, I think you had a lot of folks agree with your assessment in this thread. I hope London is treating you well. Come home soon, brother man, and always appreciate your support 👍🏻
Hi Randy, Don here from Hamilton NZ on my Wife's tablet-SUSAN - just my opinion but the Mossman was no1, Epiphone no 2, and the other 2 both sound good but... I'm very similar to you, I also own quite a few Acoustic's, Iv'e got a Martin, electric acoustic Cutaway, a Recording King dreadnought, and a Yamaha LJX, perhaps my top 3. There all fantastic Dreadnought's, but the Yamaha is probably the sweetest sounding dreadnought Iv'e Ever heard, and it's got Ball's I'm telling ya, it'll easily hold up to the Martin 😮 😅 😊
@@susanroycroft89 Hi Don, those Yamaha’s are really killer guitars. Admittedly, it surprised me at how popular this video has become. I think I’m in agreement with you, as those are my top 2 dreds, the Mossman being my favorite of any guitar I’ve ever owned or played. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, brother man 👍🏻
Sounds great Randy, I like the Mossman guitar, wow nice playing so smooth man.
Hi Oz, that is one special guitar, so I am with you on this one, brother man. Always appreciate your input, my friend 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Awesome brother sounds great
Good information Randy. Thank you very much! This one is my favorite. 7:11
That was the Excellente, I think. Thanks for kind words and really appreciate joining the conversation, brother man 👍🏻
G'day old mate. Those 4 Guitars all sound really great to my ear listening to them on my phone. I'm sure that would be different listening to them live. To my ear tone wise I'm leaning a bit towards the Epiphone Excellente FT120. Thank you for another great review old mate and cheers from Australia 👍
Brother man Kevy! Quite a few folks really appreciated the Excellente making the list, so you are surely not alone. Always appreciate getting your feedback on these videos, brother man and watch out for those pesky spiders 🕷️ over there 👍🏻
I really hope mossman reopens the shop and produces some guitars. I think I liked that one the best 👌 👍
Hi Bruce, thank you taking the time to listen to this. You and me both as far as the Mossman goes. He’s supposed to get in touch with me soon. Fingers crossed, brother man 👍🏻
Hi Randy, Digging the Silvertone man ..👌has a beautiful pop to the notes and looks cool as hell. They're all amazing. I have a real old Stella here I would love to get rebuilt like that one day. Incredible sounding guitar even ladder braced but a bit fragile atm.. one day
Interesting that you say that, because that Silvertone is a diamond and I’ll never sell it. Everything about it is perfect and especially how it plays. This one was rebraced with X. Appreciate the view and the comment, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Nice man, I have looked at those conversions in the past and kinda thought it spoils it in some way BUT now my guitar is getting a little past it, I see it as really rescuing these cool guitars and giving them a new life. and your's sounds fine to me with the X. My pleasure Randy👍
I really dig your style brother
Thanks Oz!
Randy you’re making me want to go buy a new guitar! Great video as always!
Hi Cody, that’s pretty funny, but please don’t tell your wife that I led you down this road 😂. Always appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm haha! I would never throw you under the bus like that!
Thank you, Randy. Great video as always. I liked the Mossman at first, but I have to tell you the Excellente blew me away with its sound compared to the rest. Of course I’m biased 😎. Keep on keeping on sir.
Hey Collin, the Excellente is not only underrated, it’s underpriced as well. I’m just glad we own one, right? Always appreciate hearing your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
Your Mossman is a Tone Beast 👍absolutely killer Hog Dreadnaught. My 2nd choice -the Silvertone’ conversion 👍. 3rd is the PRC. 4th the Epiphone! Thanks for sharing
Couldn’t agree more, Dennis. Of course you know how I feel about that Silvertone. It’s one you have to play sometime. It’s hard to get the experience of playing it, over on CZcams. Always appreciate hearing from you, brother man and glad to see you back on CZcams 👍🏻
Cool video 😎
Thank you very much 👍🏻
That mossman is sweet sounding. They all were awesome though. I see you’re a Harley man too. I’d say me you would get along great lol.
Hey Heath! I haven’t seen you in forever, seems like. I reached the same conclusion about you the first time I saw one of your videos, brother man. Appreciate you checking in and sharing your thoughts on these works of art, brother man 👍🏻
Another video coming anytime soon?
That 12th Root sounds spectacular, but my ears favor that Epiphone Masterbilt Excellente. Good stuff @Randy's Rhythm.
Hi David, that Excellente is surely a work of art, inside and out. Always great to hear your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm I enjoy listening to you, Randy. Respect.-dl
A lot of guitars you own I really like the sound of the 1975 Mossman Tennessee Flat Top although none are shabby nice playing Randy!
Thank you, Ms Kathy. I agree, the Mossman is extra special. Always appreciate you, ma’am 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm You are welcome Randy have a great day! :-)))
12th Root was my choice, and the Mossman a close second. Loved all your 4 choices Randy....I own a 2018 Boucher BG 52 Dreadnaught out of Montreal Quebec check with JP Cormier on that Brand..Cheers
Hi Larry, appreciate you sharing your thoughts here. I’ll check that guitar out on JP’s channel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Boucher BG52. In fact, I don’t believe I’ve ever played a Boucher. Now I’m on a mission! Appreciate you brother man 👍🏻
Hi Randy, You owe it to yourself to check the Boucher line of guitars..These are all handmade by Robin Boucher in Quebec. Boucher guitars are fast becoming world renown for their craftsmanship, sound and the use of these rare tones woods. They are very pricey. He has a full line of dreadnoughts to OM 12th and 14frets, acoustics. Boucher is now selling in the USA....@@randysrhythm
@@user-yl3dw9py4j You got my attention with a 12 fret dred 👍🏻
I think the Epiphone Masterbilt Excellente Acoustic-electric Guitar was the best overall!! A very rich deep sounding acoustic!!! A very full sounding acoustic in my opinion!! Well balanced and had a sound that the other three were lacking!! Reminds me of my Taylor 416CE!!
It just goes to show that the price doesn’t always reflect the sound quality, right? The Excellente is one great guitar. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts, brother man
Wow Randy. The battery on my tablet almost went dead listening you rattle of that amazing list of instuments. You sir, have great taste, and a great memory. I may be able to rattle off my 12, but I would need cue cards for dates for most of them. Now as much as I'm a little biased towards the Excellente, I would have to put the Mossman on the top. Even though it hasn't got that bottom end growl the Excellente has, it just purrs. And that sustain. 😮 thats my two cents, (Canadian, so about 1.5 cents USD😊).
Hi Terry, I have forgotten my first child’s name on occasion, but not my guitars 😂. Coming from you, your battery dying, is a great compliment! On the dred side, I couldn’t agree with your assessment more. Those 2 guitars are very special and unique. All of them have killer sustain. It just makes the point that that the build quality matters, right? Thanks for being a constant companion during this journey, brother man 👍🏻
To my ear, brother, that Excellente is far and away the best sounding guitar in that group. Everyone's ear is different, but just love that Epi! The new Yamaha FG9 is an exciting guitar, but way outta my reach. Take care bud.
That Excellente is very difficult to beat, brother man 👍🏻. I agree that it has an incredible sound! Appreciate you, my friend.
All sound great, I like the sound of the Excellente the best though, seems to pull a person in. Good deal!🍻🍻👍👍
Hi James, as this thread grows, it seems that you are not alone in your thinking. Always appreciate hearing from you, brother man, and happy hunting 👍🏻
All 4 great guitars! In my ears it was the mossman
Hi Arnold, you and I can agree on that. There’s just something extra special about that guitar. Appreciate you taking time out to give it a listen and really appreciate the feedback, brother man 👍🏻
Well If I wanted to know about guitars more this would be the place to watch and listen to your knowledge and advise on buying. 🎸 You seem to have enough guitars yourself to open a shop if you wanted to sell or at least use for demos but you would not want to part with them!
Hi Ms Donna, if I ever retire, I may just do that, open a shop 😁. Always humbling to see someone as talented as yourself take the time to visit and comment, ma’am 👍🏻
Colonel , You have some good taste or a good set of ear to be correct about it. The one that came out was the custom build , I will have to have another Go-Around to make sure but I don`t think it would change.
They are all Top 4 !
Hi Colonel, consider yourself saluted, sir. I plan to do a full review on that guitar. Robert Schneider deserves that at the very least. He’s a talented man. Always appreciate getting your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Yes Sir , I still will have to go with the 12 Root , As you know Rosewood is my thing and when you have that sound it is hard to go back. Again they all hold their own and the Mossman does have Mojo !
Nice pickin'
Thank you, Ms Brooke!
Cool brother
Thank you, brother man 👍🏻
They are all wonderful, but!!! That 12 Root is something extremely special.... IT is THE one!!!
p.s. my fingers are sore from practicing!!!
Hi Ms Kathi! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Yes’m, Robert Schneider is a talented man, for sure. I have pictures of every step of that build. He will not tolerate imperfections in his build. Great to see you on the channel and really appreciate your support, ma’am 👍🏻
Howdy Randy . . . . I have finally arrived safely back home in Oz . . . thank God. 🙏
Have to say, in my very humble opinion that it was a toss-up between the Mossman and the 12th Root.
I probably lean towards the Mossman, but in my experience, you could have played a different tune and the 12th Root guitar could have suited that tune more than the Mossman . . . 🤷🏻♂
Anywho . . . . a really interesting upload Mate. Big like as always. 🎼 🎸 ☮ 😊 👍🏻
I was just about to text you to see if you made it back home, John. Glad to hear you’re back! Yes sir, the are both killer guitars, made by talented hands. Man I’m glad to see you home! Hope you and the family are well. Always appreciate your insights, brother man 👍🏻
I'm gonna go w the Epiphone Ex,lentte' is my favorite.
The Luthier in Colorado, where abouts? I live just 10min or so north of Denver, might look him up to bring me strings down lower for me. I like the action on all my guitars as long as it can get without getting any frretbuzz
He’s in Longmont. He’s a great guy. Here’s the link to his website:
www.12throotguitars.com
Appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻
C14 12th Root PRC sounds great. They are all good
Hi Tex, that C14 PRC was quite a journey to get my hands on. Robert Schneider is one talented guy. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, brother man 👍🏻
I think either the 1st or the 3rd guitar is best , after going back and listening three more times I say the 3rd guitar would be my top pick just going by the tone. All sound very good in the masters hands.
Much appreciated. Yes sir, that Excellente is a great guitar 👍🏻
@Randy's Rhythm you are going to make me go broke; that said, one day I will get an Eecellente added to the stock. ;) Respect. -dl
PS: I think I commented below already that one was my favorite when listening.
Just don’t tell your wife that we know each other, David 😂. I’m sure she’s a sweetheart just like mine. Yes sir, for the money, perhaps even a great deal more money, that Excellente is one amazing guitar. Always appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻
I'm definitely going to get me an excellente.. I think they're on backorder but that's okay.. that's the only one of these I can afford any way..lol😊
Hi Raymond, don’t feel too bad, I can’t afford any of them either 😂. The Excellente is a choice guitar and the pricing just makes it even sweeter. They’ll eventually figure it out and raise the price even more, I’m afraid. Always appreciate hearing from you, brother man 👍🏻
Yes sir..I'm blessed 😁🙏
Epiphone Excellente, my choice! Epiphone is did a great job bringing this guitar on the market!
Hi Tim, I have to say that the Excellente is probably the best value around and a beautiful sounding guitar. Appreciate the comment, brother man 👍🏻
Hey Randy, can you pull out that Martin 15SM sometime and show it to us? I like to hearing all of these guitars.
Yes sir, I’ll do that over the next week or so 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Some guitars look great with some "bling" on them, but I love the looks of the Martin 15 guitars....I think just plain mahogany looks beautiful. The cutaway head is a nice touch though.
@@USNAVDC It’s my wife’s favorite guitar that I own 👍🏻
That Epiphone Excellente Masterbuilt sounds like it has built in reverb.
I have always tried to identify that sound and you just did it! For those that listen on their iPhone, you can’t hear that. Some AirPods, or headphones, really bring that out. Great ear and thanks for the feedback, brother man 👍🏻
By the way, it’s now in my memory bank that you’re Devin from Sweetwater, brother man 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm Hey Randy...it is Tom, but Devin Cunningham is the guy I always deal with at Sweetwater. Sweetwater really goes all out to take care of their customers and their service is always great. Sometimes, they make it too easy to buy another guitar though! 🙂 Devin is great to work with at Sweetwater!
@@USNAVDC I misunderstood, so now I have to reprogram my memory! Thanks for clarifying, Tom 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm That's really a fine sounding guitar!
Mossman #1
Hi Brad, appreciate the feedback. It’s such a killer guitar, brother man 👍🏻
If I owned that many guitars I wouldn't know what to do. If you ever go crazy and want to get rid of that Mossman, I'd be glad to take it off your hands.
Afraid I can’t ever let you and Donna meet now 😂. She already thinks I’m crazy! Great to hear from you, Ms Rose 👍🏻
Epiphone excellente first , Mossman second.
Great resonance the12th root, but beautifull all. Excuse me for my english. By by from Tuscany.
Your English was just fine, Giordano. Appreciate the feedback on this. I’ve been to Rome before, but not Tuscany. Glad to have you aboard, brother man 👍🏻
My guitar was Stolen about a month ago. Recording King RO-328. you wouldn't have one you could spare would you. Lol.
Hi James, man I hate to hear that. How’d that happen? I hope it wasn’t your only guitar, brother man 👍🏻
Yeah, unfortunately it was my only guitar. It was at an open mic night. With a friend. There were a lot of people. And some how someone walked out with it some time during the night. I couldn't believe. And that guitar sounded so Nice. I hate not having a guitar.
@@646627jd I never understood how anyone could enjoy something they stole. Unfortunately, that’s where we are today, no conscience and no values, just take, take and take. I almost bought the 328, but at the last minute I went with the 318. I can’t believe the sustain on that guitar. I’m still trying to get the action right on it, but eventually I’ll get it. At least it wasn’t a $5,000.00 guitar, brother man 👍🏻
I like the 12th root guitar.
Much appreciate the feedback. I will release a full review on the 12th Root this coming Saturday.
