It's definitely worth visiting, however I find it better during the winter and spring months. Lately it's just been way to windy, uncomfortable and noting much to photograph.

i have rocky beach two minutes from my office. Never really thought about going there until I watched your video Andrew, but guess I will look to get there and experiment a bit as Im still learning various aspects of photography
That's fantastic, 10 minutes is not far away at all. I find you constant changing light and condition on the beach and great place for experimentation and practice, good luck!

Great video Andrew. I like the pace and flow of this one especially. The video gave a good sense of where you were and how you chose your composition which was interesting.
I liked the shot. I was a little confused about the settings when you showed the info screen at 6:38 in the video. It looked to me that it was 2.5 seconds but you mentioned it was a little less than half-second. The actual shot showed .4 seconds so that appeared correct. What was the 2.5 that showed on the camera back? I'm probably just not familiar with your camera display.
Good question, it might be a little challenging to explain in a comment but I’ll give it a go. The way that the shutter speed times are displayed on the D800 is if the time if less that a second (in other words a faction of a second) just the denominator of the faction is displayed. So if the screen displays a 2 for the shutter speed then is really 1/2 or 0.5 of a second, if the display reads 100, then the shutter speed will be 1/100 of a second. So when the display read 2.5 it really 1/2.5 of a second, with a little fraction manipulation, that is equivalent to 10/25 or 4/10 which converted to a decimal is 0.4 of a second. I can understand the confusion and you’ll notice my pause in the video as I quickly try and convert it in my head. BTW, when the shutter speed is over a second the reading on the display is simply the number of seconds with a double quote symbol next to it. As I’ve mentioned before, what I’ve described here is for the Nikon D800, other cameras may have a different way of displaying the shutter time.

+Srinivasa Prasath thanks so much for your comment. Being winter here, we've had plenty of moody skies that have provided interest in the images. While I look out for these conditions, I'm not always lucky enough to get these skies every time. I can see your point about the orientation. I'm keen to get down there again soon to capture a portrait version to see what it turns out like.

Thanks so much Talha. The Filter holder, all ND Filters and the polariser on the front are all part of the Lee Filter system. The advantage of the polariser on the front is that I can adjust it easily at anytime! :)
Nice video Andrew. Just the composition is not the best. The rock is very close to the bottom edge. I think portrait orientation will work a bit better here because you'll get more space at the bottom and a bit more sky on the top so everything will get some extra space for possible cropping if needed. Also the ''Waterfall will get bit more attention. I know some ppl dont like portrait orientation for landscapes, but if there is no other way... ;) Have a nice day!
Thanks for your comment mate, and I understand the point your making. For me it come down to personal preference. While some decisions of a particular camera set up might make for a better image (making sure an image is focus, losing detail in highlights), other settings I feel are more objective. In other words, I'm not saying that my decision to take this in landscape made it a better image over a portrait orientation, it just that this was the landscape version of my composition that I preferred. Others, like yourself would perhaps prefer a portrait composition and for good reasons, many of which you point out. When I was considering the orientation I felt and portrait approach cut the rock shelf and I had the challenge of working out whether to have to shelf continue all the way to the other side of the frame or just stop short in which case potentially creating some imbalance to the image. The other reason I went for landscape was if the sunset was more visible it would have set around the 1/3 mark on the right of the image, but unfortunately that wasn't to be. Having said all that, I now want to go back and take a portrait image of the same and location, because I think you are right it would look great and I would have more room at the top and bottom of the image. Luckily it's not too far away. :) I really appreciate your feedback because I think the conversation is an interesting one. It's through a community like this that different points of view can be raised and discussed and I'm sure better photography will be the result. Thanks again!
Thank you, glad you're enjoy them. I use a Lee Filters 105mm landscape circular polarizer filter. It's thin and causes minimal vignetting to the images even with wide shots.

Thanks so much! Sorry, I missed telling yo the lens I was using in the video. It was my 17-35mm, and I took the image at a focal length of 24mm.
