    I like watching these videos of Panther cars, even though some mods are shown in many videos. Never know when I'll find something new in a video.

    Nice video, i may need to try that throttle cable zip tie mod...
    I also have a p71 cold air tube with marauder airbox.

      The zip tie mod is hands down the best bang for buck modification to do to any car with a throttle cable that doesn’t have an adjustment built in. My personal favorite mod of all time. It really wakes up the throttle response! Thank you so much for watching!!!

    Awesome video. Do you think I could get the cams for a mustang and some of the springs to cam up my car for cheap? I’m really trying to make 300hp NA I don’t want to kill reliability with a turbo. I’m open to anything. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. The zip tie trick really woke up my car.

      Thank you so much for watching. A mustang cam/ springs and a panther cam/ spring are the same specs. Getting 300 na crank is easy, getting 300 wheel is another story entirely. The best 5 mods regardless of price in my opinion are a torque converter gears, a j mod, quality tires and a quality tune. I know none of them are really adding power but those mods will definitely help you make the best out of what you already have. The zip tie mod is honestly the best bang for buck mod I have ever done 💪💪

      @@pantherperformance281 thanks much man! It’s superficial but 300 to the crank or the wheels would make me happy. I have a v6 keep Cherokee that only makes like 271 to the wheels but it RIPS. I believe with a j mod, cam, longtube headers a tune(from Marty) and an exhaust it will be just as quick if not quicker. I want to take an old 4.6 from a 2001 mustang and throw it in to save time LOL.

      @@fetts_revenge5535 All of those things will definitely wake it up that’s for sure. There is no mechanical difference between a mustang engine and a panther engine so you will be making the same power. If you are looking for a newer engine as a new platform then you should look into a grand Marquis engine. Marquis are less likely to be beat on, they are usually not fleet vehicles, and they are usually owned by elderly people who take great care of their vehicle so you will be getting a reliable engine for sure. Unless of course you already have the mustang engine you then go for it. lol

    How about a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. Although I believe they went to drive by wire by the next year. Currently I am trying to add a cabin air filter to my Mercury. I have used zip ties on cars before. I have a 1981 Mercedes Benz 240d that I used metal zip ties to hold the throttle mechanism together because the original parts are impossible to find. The throttle on that car is all metal rods with rubber vulcanized to some of the parts to dampen the slight vibrations caused by the diesel engine.

    • @pantherperformance281
      @pantherperformance281  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The 2005+ panthers have more power than the earlier cars but they are tricky because the computers are more sensitive to modifications sometimes. They do already have the better zip tube and air box so a plus. The throttle body is electric so you would have to reset but there are larger electric throttle bodies that bolt up. Porting the plenum is still an option and it will help. As far as the throttle response, you can get a decent tune and that can be adjusted but can be pricey depending on what you use or where you go. I have no experience with the obd based throttle adjusters but I have a friend who swears by them so that might be an option for you. I plan on doing a part 2 to this video as well as one on the 05-11 panthers soon.
      I always liked the 80s Benz body lines, they really were slick and smooth without being too much. Thanks for the view and the comment 💪💪

    When i went to go try the zip tie to raise the gas pedal on my 02 grand marquis, i can find the cable with my hand but cant see what im doing. Any ideas? My gas pedal looks a tad different and it has some plastic covering my veiw of where the cable is. It would be easier to show you a picture of what im dealing with

      Brian, first let me thank you for viewing my video and commenting, it means a lot. The best thing I can recommend is pulling your driver seat all the way back, tilting your steering wheel all the way up and lay under the dash with your feet up the back of the seat. Extremely uncomfortable, I know, but it will help. The next thing is make sure you have a good light. The plastic you’re referring to might have been removed from mine and I forgot as it did this particular mod 6 years ago. The plastic however should be able to be easily removed and replaced. I hope this helps and I wish I could be better assistance at this time.
      I do plan on doing this as well as removing the baffle on their air box and doing a before and after reaction but I am on his schedule and have no idea when he’ll be able to bring the car by.

      Thank you so much for watching. I attached the zip tube to the throttle body. Then I attached the lid of the filter box separately from the box. Last I attached the lid to the box. It will take a little stretching but over time it will eventually keep the shape and size it needs to be. I hope that helps.

    • @pantherperformance281
      @pantherperformance281  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I got my 5.4 throttle body from a used auto parts store but you can go to a u-pull as well. Ebay also has some Chinese made throttle bodies that will work as well. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!

  • @briankrasne3518
    @briankrasne3518 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Where did you get that ford 5.4 two valve throttle body, and what year is that throttle body from? did the car need a tune for that modification if you don't mind me asking? Id like to do this myself and have the installation process to be as straightforward as possible. I also cant believe i was the only person to comment on your video. You have great tips and ideas on a budget.

    • @pantherperformance281
      @pantherperformance281  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I actually got mine from a used auto parts store but I’ve seen tons of 5.4 2vs in my local u-pull-it. It is a very straight forward swap and the only thing I had to modify was the cruise control cable but my cruise control module is faulty so I don’t even have it hooked up currently. I’ve noticed that flashy videos with little to no substance get the most views and interaction but it is what it is. I make my videos to help people and even if it only helps one person, you in particular then to me it was all worthwhile. I am glad I can help you out in your journey, that is pretty cool. Thanks again for watching and commenting!!!

      @@briankrasne3518 Unfortunately it’s going to be the same exact zip tube that you have now. The later model will work but you need to add a provision for the iac motor. I used a piece of barbed pvc pipe and jb welded it into the zip tube. I’ve had it like that for 6 years and have never had any issues.

    • @briankrasne3518
      @briankrasne3518 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@pantherperformance281 that's unfortunate. I did however take the snorkel out and wow that diameter difference is very noticable. Some people with turbo charged cars said not to do this but these panthers aren't turbo charged. Will my car sound a tad different with out the snorkel cause it's now getting more airflow? I know for a fact that Putting a K&N cold air intake is a very bad idea. From what I was told is that the best you can do is just put in a K&N drop in filter and take the snorkel out. If I was to guess I probably got about a 2hp difference. With the mod that you did to the air box where you cut a bigger diameter for more airflow, I'd guess you probably got a 5hp difference.

    • @pantherperformance281
      @pantherperformance281  Před 8 měsíci

      @@briankrasne3518 That mod would work great with a turbo car so I’m not too sure what they are talking about. The modification needed to the zip tube are simple and easy to do and only takes a few minutes from beginning to end so don’t let it stop you bro. Your car MIGHT sound a little different, it will be deeper and you’ll hear the engine a little more. There is nothing wrong with putting the k&n cai on a pre 2005 car and the only thing needed for a 2005+ car would be a slight variation in the factory tune if at all. I’ve personally used one in the past and had zero issues with it. A k&n drop in is a decent addition for the money as far as bang for buck goes. I’d say 5hp for what I did would be generous but it definitely helped with both throttle response and usable rpm range. The individual hp increase per mod for these cars are disappointing and underwhelming so I shoot for net hp increases and do a few mods at a time lol
