    When I prime. I will tint the last 2 coats a bit darker for contrast. Not much, just enough for a visual guide. This helps with locating low spots or any other imperfections. Don’t be fooled. You can’t do 4 coats of medium gray and 4coats of dark gray and expect a flat panel. But, it will save you time applying guide coat and or locating imperfections. If you need a darker ground coat, then put a lighter tint. Another plus is you can ditch the aerosol guide coat that gums up your sandpaper.

    Very informative video. Is good to mention to all the hobby guys the importance of free of moisture air in the compressor, moisture can drain all your time and material money to the trash. Sometimes moisture issues dont shows inmediatelly , after the whole job is cured. Thanks.

    Oh!! I ordered a gallon of the UPOL filler in this video as a “why not”. That shit is the GREATEST filler I’ve ever used! And I’ve used em all. I can’t get over how nice it it having the smaller orifice in the hardner tube is. Guys!! Sands better than the 425 poly.

    In my experience, if you do the bodyfiller work properly before you prime, you won't need to circle low spots after you prime.

      Prime first, body filler over the epoxy primer. Sand as needed. Filler on bare metal is NOT how it's done in a quality shop.

      @@bornwestusa so if I use wash primer, than wash to wash primer and then I paint the car it’s not right?

      bornwestusa When you sand the Epoxy I guarantee you will go through and get some body filler on the bare metal

    I have a question about cleaning the surface between blowing it with air and applying body filler ? Is it necessary to "wipe off" area with lets say break cleaner or is blowing it with air enough ? Thanks for great video

      I have been told to NOTuse brake clean on any surface to be painted. Use wax and grease remover or prep sol. Something in brake clean will penetrate and bleed through later

    ok very informative video. so its bare metal, epoxy, bodyfiller. do you do all filler work over the epoxy? can filler be applied to 2k or polyester primer? after body filler what do you use? epoxy or 2k or polyester to seal all bodywork? thanks

    • @bigkidblocks
      @bigkidblocks  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, all filler work over the expoxy. Then apply a polyester primer over the filler, block the poly, apply any filler or glaze as needed, then apply a final 2K primer, block it and finish it off with 600 wet then you’re ready for paint

      You can do whatever you want, as long as the surface it sanded then blown off. if this wasn't enough literally every collision repair facility would have hundreds of thousands of people coming back with filler falling off their cars.

    I thought you cant sand epoxy primer,or does it matter what brand you use.

    • @bigkidblocks
      @bigkidblocks  Před 6 měsíci

      We recommend using a High Build Epoxy that is designed for sanding. We prefer Sherwin Williams Genesis Epoxy.

    Also, too much hardener on the bodyfiller can create "peroxide bleed".
