Colorful Hybrid Tea roses, grandiflora roses, fragrant Double Delight and an update on my Eden Climbing Rose. Garden Happy is a small garden in zone 9b offering small garden inspiration.

Beautiful roses!!🩵 I learned that lady bugs love aphids. Every year I buy lady bugs from my local garden center and let them have a blast in my garden. Specially on my roses 😅

Hi Liz the roses look so beautiful and when they are planted together the colorful blooms seem even more showy! 🌹 💐 they create such a pretty entrance to your home - we struggle with black spot on our roses here and like you I try to put no chemicals on them...we pick off the infected leaves and fertilize and water to help keep the roses as healthy as we can! ❤🎉see you next time- from Andrea 😊

I get beetles on my roses and peonies too. I pick the flowers early in the morning just before they open and enjoy them bug free inside.

I have the double delight rose as well. It is my favorite rose because the smell is just unbeatable. Also, It reminds me of my Grandmother because she is the one who told me about it. Have a lovely Day Miss Liz 😊

Mister Lincoln was my very first rose I grew back when I was a newlywed. I just learned about a month ago that Japanese Beetles go comatose when they nibble on Zonal Geraniums. Maybe put some pots of geraniums out by your roses and see if it helps. Some say it kills the beetles when they chew on the geraniums but others say it just makes them immobile and easy to pick off. My Eden won't bloom for another month but it is such a stunner. Double Delight was my grandma’s absolute favorite rose. Sadly Hybred Teas don’t do well here in the mountains.

Could you put an insect net over the roses? Till the beetles leave? It helps with my vegetable garden.
Good morning Dolores and thank you for taking the time to comment. That is a great idea about putting a net over them. However, the beetle season lasts a good month or so so I don’t know what would be worse. To look at the roses with nets over them or to keep them uncovered with beetles. That’s a tough one. i love your garden... what kind flowers orange name
Good morning Michael and thank you for your kind words. The orange flowers are ice plants. I bought them at the big box store, Home Depot. They start out very small and then spread. Very easy to take care of, and they are drought tolerant as well. they also come in many colors, pink, orange and yellow! Hope that helps. 👍❤️🥰Liz
I would remove the orange flowers from the front of the border. That intense shade of orange clashes horribly with the roses and really detracts from their beauty. It would look so much better if you planted something that compliments the roses and helps them stand out more.

Funny when I planted those ice plants they were so small in the beginning and now they have spread so big. And they do make it very hard to remove weeds as well.
