Yes!!! Put the veggie boxes in front. Nice working height as we age. You cannot eat the grass and it’s only color is dichromatic (living grass and dry dead patches 😳) It’s a container, so it often looks neater (I don’t use veggie boxes and my neighbors complain). I say go for it!!!
Oh my goodness you are so funny. I love it. Reason why my grass looks like a mess out in front is because when my husband was living with me, before he passed, he had a car building business and he parked cars on my front lawn. Can you believe that???? it was insane and my grass is definitely having a hard time recovering from all that. Thank you for taking the time to comment. One thing about it, if you do put the veggie bed out front, if you ended up not liking it, you can always move it. Sometimes remembering that helps me try things I am unsure of. So my 2 cents is move it there and try it and then you will know if you will like it there or not. You reminded me, I need to seed more coleus seeds.

Good morning, I love your garden. And I love your videos with music or just you talking. Everything is so colorful and beautiful. Hope you don't mind me saying but I think your black tires would be so pretty painted also. Lol! I paint our old tires different colors and plant Wildflowers in them. And I love them. I actually did that one time but what happened is they faded and the paint started to look very dirty. But I totally agree with you. It is definitely a fun and colorful idea for about the first six months. maybe when my backyard trees get a little bigger and there’s less sun in the yard. I will go paint them again. Liz, your garden keeps on getting better and better - always something to look forward to, changing over time and with the seasons. My current project is to expand and refresh the orchid garden area a little since I asked for a new orchid for Mother's Day and I plan to add two more in different colors, then add more colorful glass garden art. Found a great deal on two PVC garden arbors yay my last project this year. The heat and rainy season have arrived. I'm still trying for one last batch of Zinnia and Cosmos seeds:). Native salvias self-seeded and I'm hoping this year's heat-tolerant, perennial Basil experiments will work out. Happy Mother's Day and happy gardening!
Hi Rose, thank you so much for sharing all this with me. I love hearing what other people are doing in their gardens. I have not had any success with zinnia seeds this year at all. I’ve planted them several times with very little luck. It seems like every year certain things do well and others don’t. so awesome to hear about your orchids. My orchids are blooming for the first time for me this year. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to comment. Yes, I think you should put that raised vegie box in that grass area. I don't know if you mow it or weed wack it, but you wouldn't have to do anything to it if you put the box there. Plus it gets some sun in that spot so you could grow more different things. It could be another colorful spot in your front yard. FYI, I bought another nasturtium and found that it needs more sun than I gave it last time and doesn't need to be watered a lot. I put it in a pot in my front, south facing yard, next to my wooden arbor. It's already grown in the week I've had it. So, we'll see how it goes. 🙂

Well happy Funday Sunday Miss Liz, I am beginning to think that you and I are gardening soul sisters. I have all the same plants in my high Mohave garden in Arizona. I built old wooden boxes with the old wheel rims, old pots, bottle trees, wheelbarrows and it goes on. You can never have enough garden whimsy.
I would put the veggie box along the fence and use stepping stones and then add out from that towards the house.
Leaves quite a bit of room to be creative. Have a happy mother's day.

The thing is ...I believe that you should not be afraid to try new things if you desire them. What's the worst that could happen? Maybe you don't like it. So then you will know it doesn't fit. So my vote is go for it and see how you like it OR not.

Good morning Yvonne sorry you have been struggling with seeds. I noticed that every year in the Garden things are always different. What works one year doesn’t work the next and vice versa. It all has to do with whether and climate and I guess God just letting us know that he is still in control. so yeah get the start. Try it up different this year change it up and see what works. And then maybe next year you’ll have better luck with seeds. My Mother’s Day was absolutely wonderful. Spent it with my children and grandkids. Interesting how you celebrate yours a month early , It doesn’t matter every day is Mother’s Day right? Thank you for taking the time to visit me. Everything looks so beautiful Liz! I think the area you call the cottage garden is my favorite! I planted bougainvillea last week. I hope it turns out as pretty as yours. I vote to leave the veggie garden box where it is and put a tree in the front yard, but I am sure whatever you decide to do will turn out beautiful 🌸🌼🌺

Just found your channel. Your garden is very nice. I live in Northwest Florida panhandle a half mile from Gulf of Mexico in a town called Gulf Breeze grow zone 9a. I’m an avid gardener specializing in tropical plants. Love growing bananas, cannas & colocasia. I was really amazed by your large planting of orange nastrium

I have my veggie boxes in my small front yard. It looks great. I planted some yarrow in my 4 in 1 apple trees planter box. The Indian named crepe Myrtle’s do not get powdery mildew if there the Indian name varieties. Judy

I'm in love with your violet petunias, nasturtium, and painted bench.❤ How often do you water the strawberries in the stacker? Mine dry out easily.
Good morning, sweetlady and thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate your kind words and I love those strawberries stackers as well. In the hot summer days, I have to water them at least once every day otherwise I would just water them once a week. They probably dry out quick because the containers are very small. If yours are drying out quickly, may I suggest growing succulents in them. Succulents don’t require as much watering and they prefer being dried out so that might be a better choice for you. 👍👍👍 Liz

Doris I have never smelled Yarrow!!! Haha Now I I am curious and I’m going to go into my backyard and take a sniff. That is so funny. Marygold and geraniums do the same thing for me. They are very unusual but bring back memories from my childhood. Did you know that you can use Yarrow as medicinal purposes? I’ve been told that some people use it to make tea thought that would be interesting for you to know. 🌼🌼🌼Liz

Happy Mothers Day Kim. . . The bottles along the fence sit on top of long 6 inch screws. Each bottle has it's own screw. I just picked them up at the hardware store. They were kindof pricey like 1.75 each. But worth it. Hope that helps. xoxoxox Liz
Looks like you have decided not to lower to the ground your round pavers. I would not put the metal box in the front yard. It looks better in the back garden. The garden is looking real good in May. Happy Mother's Day.
Hello Silver Dawn in TX no I still want to lower the pavers. I just haven’t gotten around to it. Lots of family events going on and with work at all I just don’t have as much time in the garden as I would like to. @@GardenHappy I am glad that with time you will lower the pavers. I like the big metal planter but I thought it would stick out like a sore thumb in the front yard where you want curb appeal. I am sure you will come up with something as to where to permanently place it in the back yard. Maybe in a shady area where you could have a shade garden box with coral bells, impatients, hostas, ferns and other shade loving plants you could collect over time. That is if you have a shady spot in the garden.
I am really starting to agree with you, I think if the whole front garden was raised boxes. It would look good, but just the single one might look a little odd. You definitely have good taste and style. That’s why opinions matter to me. 🥰❤️👍Liz

I actually have a couple hostas and coral bells in my garden. Guacamole is one hosta. I have an absolutely love it. I think the shade Garden is a great idea! 👍👍👍
