  • Go! Go! … Farmer’s Market @UNU 😃
I am on a visit to the Farmers Market located in the heart of Tokyo just by the United Nations University. Here you find organic produce from many small producers coming from all over Japan. It is a market with seasonal food, food trucks with coffee, snacks, and other refreshments. At this sunny day in fall I meet some of my Japanese friends involved in the food business in Tokyo: Culinary artist Takako Nikaido, Takako’s Kitchen, Restaurateur Nozomi Jinguji, Vegan and Sweets “Wholesome! Sisters”. Her brand will change name to [UPBEET]
Chef Shinobu Namae, Restaurant L’effervescence and the organizer of the market Wataru Tanaka. Thanks for the good work and a nice visit at the market. I recommend all to support this kind of business - little is better than nothing: As a tourist buy your fruit and snacks places like this.

Since some time now i live plastic free, but I see in Japan even at farmers markets they wrap the produce 😨. Also is all the farming done Organic or mostly conventional. That chef said he bought organic apples there but that was only one stall and just apples, can you buy everything organic? There is so much to love about Japan, but it's sad to see how they adopt western customs of living more: a life detached from nature and embracing industrialization, when in so many ways they were always much more in harmony with what healthy living is, of course all of humanity made major mistakes, but if you go a couple 100 years back Japan always been more considerate on many topics. Thank you for sharing.

Good idea to live plastic free. Thanks so much for your reflections about the Japanese culture - I agree with you that the way life is changing away from nature is sad. We have to try to live a modern way with old school skills and knowledge. You can get organic produce in Japan, but not in the same scale as e.g. here where I live in Denmark, Europe.
