    I've never heard anything like this in my over 50 years of playing the guitar and listening to music of all kinds. Rick has blessed this planet and life forever.

      I’ve been playing piano for 60 years and guitar for 50+.
      Rick is a rarity. Brilliant player and great personality.

    Breathtakingly brilliant. This is the best improvisation of any beatles or other pop song I've heard.

    Outstanding playing. I wish I had a millionth of his technique.Have always thought he was much more accomplished than Emerson, but love Emerson too!Have met him on a couple of occasions , always pleasant and affable. A brilliant musician...and a wonderful human being too.Thanks Rick

      petrared100 ~ As you talk about these two guys l was thinking as Wakes played that his right hand is just fantastic, like Keith's was, but Ricks fingers have ALWAYS been perfectly straight! Especially when he plays fast! Keith's _left hand_ though is FAR better than Rick's! lts _mind boggling_ how that left hand covers ground, and quickly! l've always thought that the left hand was one of Wakeman's biggest technical challenges, and he CONSTANTLY has to be on top of it! l would bet he'd agree if you asked him! l'm NOT a good piano player btw, just been watching and hearing for 46 years!

      Petrared100 - You need to look at a chart. You will see that left hand rarely plays as much as the right. And when you have bassists like Squire and Pomeroy - they MORE than cover what RW's left hand would normally play.
      When he does these solo piano gigs - his left hand is covering the bass and rhythm - and his right is dealing with melody and fills. His left hand just doesn't NEED to be that busy. Old keyboardist, bassist and session singer, here. Not blowing smoke.

      @@wandamundy1759 ~ Yes, you are right Wanda! l'm just saying that when you 'compare' to someone like Emerson, or say ...Massimo Bucci, ..their left hands were/are _crazy!_ Dont get me wrong, l _LOVE_ Wakeman!! He's wonderful! An absolute favourite!

      Agree with Theresa; I'd say that Rick's right hand is the most precise and agile ever seen in rock but Keith's wasn't that far behind and his left hand was in a different league. And I love Massimo as well (chatted a bit with him and he was very kind about my Firth of Fifth transcription too 🙂).
      @Wanda; not blowing smoke either but check my YT channel... 😉

    Rick Wakeman has incredible technique. His hands barely move, even though he gets an enormous sound from the piano. I never realized how good his technique is.

      docksketchy ~ He _does!_ l notice he plays with his fingers straight! They're rarely bent! Maybe he can afford to because his hands are big, but he's _STILL_ playing! Just dropped another album with astounding musicians!!

    • @docsketchy
      @docsketchy Před 4 lety +1

      @@theresa42213 There is a whole school of classical playing which advocates straight fingers, actually. This is sort of an active area of debate among piano pedagogues.

      @theresa42213 Před 4 lety +1

      @@docsketchy ~ Yea ...Well l like it! Ricks got beautiful hands (from a woman's point of view), and he's taken care of them! He played properly! Sadly Emerson did not. But even Tony Banks cant play his old solos like in ''Cinema Show'' at anywhere near full speed anymore! he has to slow it to _Half Speed_ to do remasters n stuff. That Shocked me! Wakey is still wowing his listeners, and 'shticking it up!' ! l say the Viking man has been BLESSED by GOD!

Maybe not as wide reaching ....but just as everlasting _INDEED!_ _Close to the Edge, Heart of the Sunrise, Six Wives..., ...Arthur..., AWAKEN?!?!?_ When it came to virtuosity, the Prog dudes _blew them ALL away!_ Hands down! imho :)
