I don't care what haptic sensors you use; some things just aren't artificial.

That monologue in the rain made me have to sit down. My gf and I are long distance, and we text every day and phone most days, and I'm grateful for the technology that enables that, but we also send letters. They normally come about every two weeks and it's those pieces of paper that make me smile the most, because they're the physical thing that remind me the most of her, and of her presence. A photo of her or a text can't replicate the way I can see where she crossed something out, or pressed the pen a little too hard. Thank you for treating this with the passion it deserves (while making it incredibly hilarious, you're a comedy deity)

This is a wonderful video, I just had to add something. As a trans person, it is so wonderful to casually see several LGBTQ and POC people in internet spaces instead of just cis white men. Child me never saw any LGBTQ or POC people who weren’t demonized, I’m so glad that young kids today can grow up seeing LGBTQIA people everywhere. Makes me want to cry (tears of joy) for how far we have come. Maybe seeing all of these people speak on issues can stop the alt-right pipelines young people can fall down.

The writing here is phenomenal. That monologue from the end of 26 min to 30min moved me deeply. It’s an assertion of revolutionary values instead of simple and cynical jabs about eating bugs and living primarily online.

I cannot fully describe how scared Metaverse makes me. Is it not enough to work a drab 9 to 5? they want MORE out of their workers. "Yeah hook your nerves up to this computer or you won't get the raise you so desparately need."
It reminds me of the more dystopian side of Hypnospace Outlaw. For context, in that game there's a separate kind of computer in the form of a headband that connects you to the internet while you sleep. And most people in that universe HAVE to use it to work. They work all day, then are forced to continue working as they sleep.
Fuck, I hope Zuckerberg never learns about that game.

The whole "metaverse is our dystopian future" thing hurts my brain so much, i assume no one has done any research on the origin of the term "metaverse"?
Let me make this clear, i think its pretty dumb that companies are trying to use the metaverse as a hype word, but they aren't really creating a metaverse then, because the metaverse is supposed to be decentralized.
The word "metaverse" is from the book Snow Crash, and made popular by books like Ready Player One, but apparently no one has heard of decenterlization or laws, like the fact that the these companies have to make safe equipment and that VR isnt very comfortable at long play sessions. And yes, the government does use VR tech, but mainly for military training.
