- "Born Rich" is a fascinating 2003 documentary directed by Jamie Johnson, an heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune. The film offers a unique and intimate insight into the lives of the children born into some of America's wealthiest families. Johnson brings together a group of his peers, including heirs of the Bloomberg, Trump, and Vanderbilt fortunes among others, to discuss the realities of privilege, wealth, and their impact on personal identity. By examining the seldom-discussed topic of inherited wealth and the taboo surrounding it, "Born Rich" attempts to unveil the psychology, expectations, and burdens faced by those who are born into affluence.

No matter what status you are born into it is important to learn nobility and integrity. A lot of personalities have a very difficult time living up to the pressures that a wealthy person may experience. You have a lot to lose. It seems crazy, but just look at someone like Prince Harry.
Also, people with no wealth do run around very entitled. The difference with them is they typically have nothing to lose.
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
poor rich people :(((, poor people have it soo much better, they dont know how difficult it is too have something u can lose, they dont have anything and therefore have it soo much better
its impossible to give away what u have, if i would only have a choice like poor people have, they can press a button and be rich, we born rich people cant do that, im so jealous and envious, poor people have it soo much better, guess i have to be rich, life is sooo unfair, i wish i would be poor, no choice :(((
what about us rich people ?!?! :(((, poor people will never understand how hard it is too have something, where is our pity ?!, life is hard up here
Why nobility ? Integrity you should have. What about you should suffer in life ? Live like the poor their opportunities and then have integrity. And try to be rich by working hard. That is the real test of character!!!
I'm not rich, but I'm disabled and on SSDI, so I get why rich people who don't work get depressed. Doing nothing with your life is, in fact, a depressing way to live
If you are able-bodied and CAN work, even if you don't need the money, then you should. Even if you just volunteer or make art or write books or something and don't get paid for it. Whether you need to make money off it or not, it's good for the human soul to be productive
Facts
Completely agree
poor rich people, all the money and wealth has made it impossible for us to apply at mcdonalds for a job, being rich sux :(((( a lot :(((
Yeah. Even the Bible states that: “The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.” (Ecclesiastes 5.12)
I actually love the relationship Jamie has with his Dad. Seems quite normal and wholesome, emotionally honest and transparent. They did something right
It's sad that they hushed Jamie. He was truly questioning something that doesn't seem fair.. in my opinion, not moral. 😔 I think it's awesome that there are rich people, but with great gifts and talents come with great responsibility.
I have to say, all of these"kids" have excellent conversational skills and the highest of grammar. The money was obviously put to good use on their educations.
Not really, I guess someone needs to understand English to understand this point.
i mean if you go to rich schools, that just happens, high conversational, great grammar not a sign of intelligence, but it is a good way to disguise ignorance or lack of class
They have so much worldly materials but I think the most important and priceless thing to have is spiritual muscles and graces.
Jamie should continue to make documentaries as he did a phenomenal job. 👏
But sadly, the rich "snobs" forced him to be quiet. Glad this film sprung back up on yt after a long absence. Thanks for posting.
Do you have his other film "the one percent?"
POOR GUYS THEY ALL SEEM SO LOST WITH NOT SUBSTANCE AND LET ALONE LOVE
Jamie seems like a good man. I pray that God will touch his heart and those of his friends to seek fairness and to do what's right.
Jamie Johnson is born right - good honest chap, hope he use his riches well.
my husband Peter used to chaperon you driving back in the mid 90s, he felt you seemed invisible and remembered trying to build your sense of self, sad you could not groom or snuggle with the horses, & form relationships with them - maybe you are able to do this now.
Hornblower seems down-to-earth, authentic, without too much fake ego invested in his financial status.
i cry when jamie describe the happiest time of 2 years he work with the putorican n the interaction with the...i feels his diwn to earth.. n the fact that he made this documentary film. ...
I feel so bad for this guy. He was just trying to find his way in the world. Because he made this, he’s subjected to the same fate as his dad. You don’t see anything public about him nowadays. Even if he wanted to, he probably can’t have kids because he’d been taken out of the eligible bachelors pool for wealthy elites because of this docu. You can’t really bite the hand that feeds or really choose your own path when you’re locked into a legacy. But he did the right thing, maybe true freedom is being able to do choose right no matter the consequences
Well said and I totally agree. There is one scene in the documentary where his father is trying to get him to not make this whole thing, and you can see so much in the way the dad carries himself. Almost meek, like he once was like his son but had been washed away
Its uncomfortable to talk about there wealth because there conscious dosnt want to deal with the guilt of the many people they stood on poisoned mistreated belittled the vast population they manipulated in to slavery they also fear what will happen when we all wake up to it all .
They don't wanna tell us how 5 percent of us could and maybe should think about, but definately could dismantle these huge hoards of money and how the vast wealth of the 1 percent is not even comprehensible to the 99 percent
Maybe money shouldn't be able to be handed down for 1000s of years, imagine how wealthy you'd have to be for 1000 years of generations to never have to work, absolutely insane
Best part of this whole show is the Librarian’s responses.
We the public do not feel bad for anybody that is born rich. If some rich people get depressed, all poor people are depressed. Welcome to the real world…
It's interesting. I watched this when it was first released. Then, it disappeared! Now it's back... interesting...
The cool thing about having so much $ is that you can dedicate your life to philanthropy. It's not your fault where you come from, rich or poor l, but what you do with it is up to you. Has got to be very gratifying to contribute lots of $ to worthy organizations. I love it when I've given $100. to the Humane Society.
I can't finish cause it's just so boring and empty....sad to be burdened by such wealth .
My best friend of 33yrs killed himself a few weeks ago, illness took him from his job and he ended up struggling. I struggle daily. Money means nothing to me, my mate did. I miss him dearly.
I am so sorry that this happened. The situation of struggle has only gotten worse for Americans since Jamie made this documentary. I am in near disbelief that things are so bad here that many feel hopeless
I’m so sorry to hear that. I really hope your doing better now dear
Luke said in the beginning he didn’t want to be part of it and was against it…..So why did he continue…why did he not walk away…….
Drugs and ego, couldn't resist talking about himself being wealthy
Thuis Weiland kid reminders me of Roman from HBO’s Succession
Yeah!!
"You never see or bring a black person here". No one except our circle understands us or would marry us. No one ever talks about what they do with their money outside of "buying things". How about helping America become properous for all. ???
Wheres the rest of the comments???
Luke Weil is a cry baby.
I didn’t here one person talk about making a difference in someone’s life. (i.e. Taylor Swift: giving large bonuses to her staff, which will forever change their lives) I feel like the 1% are out of touch with the reality of poverty. Just saying.
I see that shift nowadays. And yeah, I mean how could you be ‘in touch’ with struggle you’ve never known. I like this movie because the rest of us aren’t in touch with how robbed these kids felt psychologically of an accomplished life. I think growing up a billionaire would be the worst kind of prison. Even though I’m not worrying about anything concerned with money, I have nothing left to strive for, in a way. Or that’s how they talk about it
We not listening to Taylor swift dawg
She’s a billionaire. Richer then all of them

Must have done something right in their past lives... me on the other hand, must have done tremendous wrongs to be where I am.
Sad...Catcher in the Rye...rich but for the most part depressed. Guess it's better than poor and depressed. In the end, rich or poor, we all have to contribute in order to thrive.

No one should feel "bad" if they have money. But the more gifts we receive, the more we are expected to give.
No man is his own island.
"It is easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than a rich man (or woman) to enter into Heaven." Therefore, pray for their souls as well. Because, if it wasn't for God's graces, there I go... 🙏 🙏
I love this comment ❤
Poor little babies!

Boring.
These are all Spoiled kids. If you want to live with integrity give 99% of your wealth to charity and keep paying taxes each year like everyone else instead of not paying taxes.
Fuck that lol

People forget that wealthy people are humans. They want connection and love and community

The more (worldly riches) you have, the harder you fall.
I'd prefer spiritual riches. Sure, it would be nice not worry about paying my bill and have a dependable vehicle, but overall, I would rather be rich in God's graces and find a good Catholic husband who is humble enough to pray, attend church and has more virtues than vices and can control his passions. I also hope that we would have our own babies who grow up to love and serve the Lord. People are more valuable than any worldly material or stuff that will rust or degrade one day. But TMI😉 🙏
Ivanka is lucky she is not behind bars!!!
You really think that? She seems like such a kind person.
Lewis, not hating on you by the way. Genuinely want to discuss if you do!! 😁
@@brucebradburyIII Ivanka proved that she had nothing to do with her fathers business.
I doubt she is part of the globalist satanic cabal. Aka free masons aka synagogue of satan.
For what?
vanity..
I'm richer than all these kids combined.

I know you don't understand and the majority of you will never understand.
God these people are almost all awful , if thats what great wealth does im happy being skint in comparison 😂
Out of everyone, I was most surprised with how kind and thoughtful Ivanka presented. I don’t remember in detail, but she really positively surprised me. But I see what you’re saying about some of the characters haha 🤣
@@brucebradburyIII True but you have to give a concession for the fact that above all of them she probably had the most PR training at that point.
