on a related topic of measuring. I had bought a Fastcap tape measure and i thought it would be smart to compare the measurements with my other tapes and rulers which are all aligned. There was a surprise that the fastcap was out by half a millimeter. I checked that with a micrometer which by the way alines with all my measuring tools. the marks on the all the devices align including the fastcap. So the error is in the little black tag in the front. I had to use a knight to adjust and bend the tab from the base to get it to align. eventually it did. So it pays to always check all measuring devices if you plan to carry one dimension to another measuring device.
Therefore: always use the SAME measuring device in a project
I've gotten so I "burn one" on every tape measure I use, just to exclude the end hook.
I usually carry multiple tape measures of the same brand and length that I use. So whenever I am working with someone on a jobsite (like my darn boss) I can say, "Here! Have a free tape measure!"
To optimize this even more, make the mounting block and the measuring block one single block. One end can butt up against the corner and you attach the caster flush to the other end.
What about those new casters?
I have the next prototype being assembled and shipped next week. Once they are finalized, I will drop a video and a link. They are planning on a month to finish and have them ready for shipping.
That new castor approach may be the answer to my issue of rolling in and out of a high garage door lip that existing Smart Kart can’t do … here’s hoping!
