Great video Jason. It's definitely one of Bosses most original pedals. I adversely like to put before my dirt pedals, rather than having it after the dirt section. For a lack of a better description...it sounds less modulated.

Also one of my favourite pedals. I usually set the rate to the lowest setting and depth to 8 - 12 for a cool indie sound, warped tape effect thing, or both Rate and depth set at anywhere from 10 - 14:00 if I want the tone to get really interesting. The only negative about this pedal is I am not a fan of the custom mode, I really wish they just went with a Chorus effect or something instead, the original mode is honestly just too perfect that when you want the effect why would you go with the custom mode and the Rise knob only works when the pedal is in the unlatched mode and even then it is very subtle to my ear.
I think this pedal is best use as an always-on subtle effect or for an interesting layer of an ambient-type track, for some reason I always makes me think of like a SNES video game type thing or even Boards of Canada type stuff ( remember them lol). Also I mean this is what you need if you want that Spongebob Squarepants sound.
It is a top tier pedal but of course not for everyone.
Yeah used subtly it’s absolutely killer, in a fit of stupidity I sold mine to get something else which I then also sold, currently I have the MD-500 which does a pretty convincing version of this but I’m sure I’ll get the VB-2W again in the future!

Ah man, I love this pedal though! 😂 to be fair, it’s best used subtly and not at extremes but it’s a cool sound IMO.
