Mick and Peter look at the Boss WAZA craft pedals including the new VB-2w Vibrato pedal. Lets wobble..
The guitars Mick and Pete played are the Fender Classic player Stratocaster, a Gibson ES335 (Petes own one). - Hudba
I MUST say you guys ALWAYS seem to be having, THE ABSOLUTE MOST, FUN doing what you do. I sometimes just watch to make my day better. It’s a joy for me to watch you appreciate each other’s skill while simply enjoying the music. I don’t know if you guys are truly friends but it seems like it. I would love to see you guys playing together in a band. I think you guys would compliment each other well.
Nice job Mick and Pete! I enjoyed your laid-back review!
Mick great video and great playing! Love the tone with a hint of the VB-2w! You guys are giving the Capt and Chappers a real run for their money!
Boss should do a metal zone waza craft. Just for the hell of it.
:D that would be funny
Lol
Oh please let that be a thing, please. I fucking love that pedal.
Nathan Wells you just make me laugh so hard now! best comment ever....
That would be hilarious!
The all on tone at the end was the best. Clearly that's how these pedals are meant to be used!
Such an enjoyable video. Well done gentlemen.
The guitars and reviews are really excellent, but also kudos to the camera op. These videos are beautifully lit and shot.
I seriously hope they do a HM-2 Waza Craft version
its out!!!
Great fun, nicely done demo
Great vídeo, hope Pete be better soon. Thank you
Great demo guys!!
Boss DM-2 Waza is so good I bought two just to be on the safe side... Incredible piece of analog gear. And yes I have more than 10 different analog delays and tried almost everything on the market.
+konnektlive ARDX20 ... :) :)
+bvninja I also have ARDX20, EHX MM old big box with 3005 chips and many more. But I like Boss DM-2 Waza simply because of its incredible percussive repeats. No other analog delay gives me that percussive sound really. I'm using the DM-2W with my Strymon DIG (ADM) = percussive delay heaven.
konnektlive
NIce .... :) Know the feeling I have a few, currently ardx20, timeline and just got the replicator ... am going to check out the dm2 W .... enjoy :)
+bvninja Nice! Replicator is the one I need to try for sure. I got an old Echoplex but maintenance is just not fun anymore... I repaired that thing God know how many times... I need to save for that Replicator for sure. Tell me about it please. How do you find its Saturation knob? is it subtle or crazy? Also can you get that wobbly imperfect yet delicious tone of Echoplex out of it? Is the tap tempo really accurate?
konnektlive
yep echoplex great but also a real pain -my Rep has just arrived so just at the very beginning of looking at it - but so far have to say it's fantastic when you have the dosh wouldn't hesitate go and grab one - no doubt in time down the line a bit the tape cassette unit will need maintenance/replacing but easier than the e-plex - sounds pretty true haven't a/b'd them my echoplex - you guessed it ... away being repaired !!!
Sd1 is one of the most underrated ODs
0:20 As soon as I heard that first chord, the song "How You Remind Me" immediately popped in my head.
I have a boss DS-1 (oldy) sounds awesome for blues rock, nice SRV tones… cool vid here
That last tone! I mean...out of this world...
Looks like a great pedalboard to me!
Acetone Stereo Phaser was the precursor to the CE-1. in stereo it was beautiful. It was made for the ACETONE Organ. I picked one up in the 70s from a keyboard display. It subsequently got burnt up in a fire. It would fill up a stage in stereo 2 amps. So it was lost forever. I wish I had a schematic. Or, i wish boss would make a pedal with those components. maybe call it the ACETONE STEREO PHAZER, sO i know it and buy one. Loved It.
I like these guys.
Comprehensive take on the range. Cheers.
That playing on 20:21... Pete you legend!!
Those pedals sound great! BD-2W is even better than I expected. The Fender amp is a much better platform...not keen on that Marshall at all.
Thank you thank you +MickTaylor! Great playing by the way. Can I make a slight suggestion? I like the way you play but in some of your vids I can't see your finger placement because of the camera angle. Thanks again.
How much I miss guitar paradiso
Mick - if you had to buy the BD2 again, would you go for the Waza or the Keeley Mod version? I have the Keeley Mod Tubescreamer and was thinking of a BD2 to go with it. Just wondered what your thoughts were given that you have played both and mentioned the similarity in this vid. Cheers!!
+Mick Taylor I know a place that still has some in stock! Thanks for replying. Love watching your channels! Cheers.
I really want to see a video with some of the WAZA pedals A/B'd against the standard versions.
Look for the "Shnobel Tone" channel, he has a lot of comparisons like these. Cheers!
+Peter Byrne Hi Peter. Hopefully you have subscribed to our channel and have seen the BD2 vs BD2w video that went up yesterday? There will be a SD1 vs SD1w video coming up very very soon. Keep an eye out dude.:)
Holy shit, what an ending.
Vibrato or Tremolo? For the time of my comment, the CE-2w is out, Yes! The Chorus and I guess the next one would be the Tremolo Waza Craft. What do you guys think?
Is Pete danish, or part-danish by any chance? :-)
Noticing a small nordic accent... May be wrong.
+Danish Flanders He is indeed 100% Danish!
His name is Danish Pete and he has a pedal named after him called the Dane by Thorpy! Lol amazing pedal too btw.
These pedals are very nice but compared to other drive pedlas these have a luttle more treble I like using them with there levels lower because when you put them up they get so trebley but still good solid pedals but zi have the ibanez tubscreamer mini gor my bored and its there newer version that has the 808 chip in it so I love it got the right amount of treble and of mid and bass just a great pedal so I just dont have a need for these I would like to get the blues driver tho just for a light touch sometimes even tho my clean boost I use actually adds a little grit anyways but have always wanted a blues driver I guess thats all it is lol
Who's this new guy, Pete?
What happened to Danish Pete?
Have you ever tried pedals from Earthquaker Devices?
Good stuff, boys. And the toys. Clearly had mis-spent youths, both of yez.
Wazacraft amp demo in the future?
Nicely done and IMHO the gain pedals sounded best through the Fender amp. I'm not sure what pedal I'd use through a jcm 800 but it isn't one of these.
+ArielsSmartyPants Tube screamer always works nice for crunch to high gain. It seemed like a bit too much in this video with these pedals/settings though.
+ArielsSmartyPants The SD-1 through a Marshall is a classic 80's metal sound (the circuit, to the best of my knowledge, is the same as a tubescreamer except with asymmetrical clipping instead of symmetrical. The basic effect is that the SD-1 will be louder and 'meaner').
It's definitely more to kick a JCM800 into hair metal/power metal than it is for the lighter bluesy/soul playing that these guys have. Also, the Blues Driver can get kind of weird into high gain Marshalls as it has a fairly scooped midrange, meaning that you risk sucking out the Marshall character when you turn it on, leaving you with an overly bassy tone with almost painful highs. Mind you, I've heard it sound great through Plexi style amps, but the more compressed JCM 800's are really picky about drive pedals.
The Blues driver sounded actually trashy through the Marshall
Sd1 into Marshall is like peanut butter and jelly. It just works so well, especially a JCM. It has less mids than a TS, which works better because of all the mids Marshalls have inherently. Asymmetrical clipping also sounds better than symmetrical into Marshalls. I think the SD1 is so underrated. If it were made by anyone else and cost the same price as a tubescreamer, it would be much more used than it already is. Everyone loved the fulltone for many years until people realized it was just a boss SD1 with a few extra options.
Mr. Mick....which model is that gold mettalic Strat? Is it Mexican?
Does Mick ever sit on the other side of the screen?
Keeps his guitars from getting hit by headstocks!
Can anyone tell me what song is that lick from that Mick is playing at 7:40? Thanks
Hi there. No song in particular, just the usual bluesy licks that are a product of listening to David Grissom, Michael Landau and SRV among many others. Check out Landau's Worried Life Blues (live) for more of the opening theme. Awesome. (Him, not me!)
I need to buy at least one of each :ooo
What settings would you recommend on the Boss DM-2W Delay to achieve the double track effect? Looking to thicken up my sound.
Playing in stereo with 2 amps and delaying one of 20ms with any delay pedal (so the 2nd amp is only wet). You could also add a detune from a pitch shifter on that signal path to "simulate" human difference
@@lovecraftmusic8717 I think Steve Vai even does something just like that.
@@squirelova1815 can you link me something please? Im curios about his method.
@@lovecraftmusic8717 Actually YES. I was just watching Vai yesterday talking specifically about making his sound Bigger and thicker in Stereo here for Musician's Friend (a little later in the vid towards the middle) but he does give Details here: czcams.com/video/djA3ZG3dHj0/video.html
@@squirelova1815 thank you very much!
Is Pete going to be in the new Miami Vice movie? To think Pete bought his first pedal just Twelve years ago. Time flies.
🎼😂 Nice win to meet you people !!
How about the vibrato with the Miku?
The world would probably end
30:30 Yesss !! DIRT !!!
What is this guitar paradisso segment and why is it different ?
+K3V-LAW It is where cool stuff happens :) kidding aside, they review some higher quality gear, unlike Chappers and the Captain, who review anything from super duper cheap to super expensive..
+Thor cheers bud, I've met Pete in the store and Chappers for that matter and have watched the other chap on That Pedal show.
It's bitter sweet watching these two as I love the ES335's and the other semi hollow guitars I've seen... And want one so bad problem is Mrs has let me get 7 guitars so far, plus an extensive pedal kit, DAWS and a Roland TD5KP drum kit and we're now due a littlen so I'm outta luck.
Thanks for replying though! I really appreciate it.
One other question I have the Boss BD2 and was considering a Keeley mod, my last pedal was a JHS Muffaletta which I love and saw they did a mod... Shall I bother or get the Wazza?
That ES(and every gibson for that matter) sounds so much better than that strat(every fender)! And also when you talked about your back aching it sounded like you said "it's aids" XD
+That smelly guy on the train I disagree, I think they both have their distinct niche. I don't think you'll mind, though, let me buy a Fender and you can buy a Gibson.
it's all personal opinion but I agree, the Gibson sounds soooo much better.
22:37 Terminator activated.
Ive been in a love affair with BB delay for what seems like eternity
25:27 Chris Rea - Nothing to Fear 😉
Are they were worth (nearly) twice the price of the originals though?.. Original Blues Driver + TC Mojo Mojo would give loads of tone options (and a boost option) and cost less than the Waza... Great review as always, but really just convinced me there are so many other options for less money.
+Severinate SD-1 = £40, SD-1w = £110, so closer to three times! I have an SD-1w which replaced an SD-1. It has a lower noise floor and does more than the old one. It's probably not worth it for the improvements though. I'd say that it's more a case of the SD-1 being hugely under-rated rather than the Wasa version being over priced. Just look at the price of Tube-screamers. It used to be that Boss pedals were premium and Ibanez were considered to be inferior...
those are actually the two drives I use. they work great together.
hope andertons also would demo and review waza amp
WAZUUUUUUP!?
Hej Peter, synes du burde snakke noget mere dansk i jeres videoer! ;)))
Syntes jeg også
Micks face at the very end!
Vibrato, Vibraito, TOmato, Tomaito...
I always thought that Pete was Welsh or something, 'till now.
Caio Tudur Owen Danish, hence him being called Danish Pete.
Never liked the Boss CE2 CHORUS. The DOD FX-60 STEREO CHORUS is much fuller sounding. Another great VIBRATO is the CRAIG ANDERTON'S ELECTRONIC PROJECTS FOR MUSICIANS , PROJECT #21 PHASE-SHIFTER (has switch for VIBRATO MODE). Very incredible thick frequency modulation...I call mine the DE'TUN'ATOR! Not to mention it's a great phase shifter!
is Pete 25 years old? wtf?
He's obviously joking.
09:26 oh god what a horrible tone
God awful. Thaf particular combination of pedal guitar and amp just don't work
DD7 > DM2
They should have redesigned the looks as well - they just look cheap
+Rumy 73 hahaha..yeah mate...
I like the design, it's supposed to be faithful to the original, and they're perfect for gigging cause they're buit to survive a nuclear blast :D
The whole point of the waza craft is that they made it in japan like they used to with there old pedals to make them more like the originals so why would they change it if there going for the original build and sound you meed to do more research on the pedals
