Leave me a comment if this video taught you anything new!
I'm having a hard time hear you say "Set Ins" instead of settings.
I’d be totally lost without this video. Thank you so so much!
Thanks for watching!
Just got my X100VI today from B&h after 100 days waiting, I just followed your steps for set up, thank you for this great work, and keep your head up, u 2 best,
Glad it helped
I just got my X100Vi on Wednesday. I am totally new to Fujifilm so this video was a godsend for me! Thank you so much to taking the time to make it and for explaining things so clearly!
Thank you for watching
Really enjoyed this video! Thank you for putting in the time to make this! I just received my x100vi and this is my first 'real' camera, and I set most of my settings the same way you described and am excited to get out and use it.
One thing I'd really like to note though- and please correct me if I'm wrong- but if you choose to put the camera in full manual mode and set Aperture Ring Setting (A) to COMMAND in order to use the rear dial to control aperture, then placing the ring in position A and spinning the rear dial all the way to the right will basically put the camera back into Auto aperture mode. Then, spinning the dial one click to the left will 'enter' manual aperture mode, starting at f16, and go down from there with each subsequent spin to the left. Spinning all the way back to the right, past f16, will once again put the camera into Auto aperture mode. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense, or if I am mistaken!
Cheers
I’m not sure but I can test it out!
Thank you so much for this video! New cameras can be easily overwhelming and your video made it a lot less daunting. You rock!
You're so welcome!
I’m new to Fuji and have the VI. This video is great. Learned a lot. Thank you. Up to the next one but for now it’s a little late. Off to bed 💤💤💤
Thank you! Very good presentation of a lot of settings and a menu sometimes a little bit confusing. The use of Command Dial is an example of this and was very well clarified.
Thank you! Glad to have helped
Thank you sommuch for this video. It really helped me out and I learned a lot in the process of setting it up.
Glad it helped!
Such a valuable video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for making the Effort to make this video. I'm very experienced with Fujifilm from the XPRO-2 to the T4 and now this.... but man it feels like a different beast with a lot of other sub menus that I did'nt know bout! cheers Kyler!
My pleasure!
Great video thanks a lot ! I'm new in those photography things and I really appreciated your work.
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for this video it helped a lot😍 going straight to the film simulation one ✌🏼
Let’s go! Happy shooting!
thank you very much!!
Loved the video
Glad to have helped 🫡
Great run through Kyler, TY
Thank you!
Its really useful for a beginner, thank you!
You're very welcome!
lets goooo! great video!!
Thank you so much!

So helpful thank you!

Helpful video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Good for you for adding a recap screen. Thanks.
Thank you for watching!
Big thanks♥️
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much. Coming from Sony this was a life saver
Glad I could help!
Butt-uns ;) Thanks for the very helpful guide. It took me 3 fully charged batteries to go through everything!
It's very helpful - one question - I added an adapter and UV filter and see the lenses in the viewfinder in the lower right corner. Is there any setting that eliminates that? Thank you for taking the time to do the tutorial
No the viewfinder style will always block that lower right corner. If you want to see the frame unobstructed you can flip the switch and go electronic viewfinder!
Goat 🙌🏽
Thank you ❤️🔥
Thank you for this! What is that lens hood?
Squarehood! Linked in description or you get watch the accessories video!
Thanks for the helpful video! As I go along, I noticed a few settings that seem to be configurable in your video are greyed out in my camera. Some examples being: Select custom setting (under Pixel Mapping), AF Range Limiter, Photometry, Flickerless S S Setting, etc. I notice you are able to click into these and but I can't even click them at all. Any idea why?
Some settings will be grayed out/not available if you are in single shot/burst/video mode. Another reason is if you are creating a custom setting then you cant select one while creating one. So make sure you are out of that menu and back in the main screen
Im sure someone has mentioned this, but for the Touch control auto focus settings, area is great as it lets you touch to pick which location to autofocus so you arent using your joystick to move around the points. Goated setting imo
Agreed!
I'm curious if this is the updated firmware 1.01? At 24:44 you start explaining the BUILT-IN FLASH and quickly run through the settings for this, including TTL MODE. I'm unable to change to TTL SLOW mode regardless of what I do. I've really only begun to explore the menus on this camera and updated firmware is the only explanation I can come up with. Perhaps when I do upgrade it to 1.01 and come back to this menu, it will show all the options that you run through for TTL.
I didn’t update my firmware yet but it may be on 1.01. Not sure if some shipped different or not
This video has been a tremendous help in my usage of the x100vi.
I literally had no idea how to set up the my menu and customize the buttons. This went in great but comprehensive detail and I cannot express my appreciation enough.
Very well done and thank you so very much for putting this together!
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Does the lens/aperture of your VI emit any noise during power on/off?
The camera makes noise on power on/off
Out of curiosity, you mentioned that you shoot mostly with AF-S with the focus point centered, do you focus and recompose the scene? What about moving objects? Like for example people coming towards you? Do you switch to AF-C in such cases? I find the VI misses a lot much more than my Q3.
I focus and recompose for 95% of my shots! For close street photography I do use a wider point and eye autofocus and shoot in a burst mode
Hero!
How do you use the hybrid viewfinder - with the small patch in the bottom corner? I want it to just show my scene off the sensor. Example: I am shooting with the Acros preset with the OVF - but I want the small patch in the corner to show my full scene in B&W so I can keep an eye on my tones.
Not sure exactly but if you move the switch to the left a couple times and the right a couple times until it gives you the frame you want you’ll definitely get it!
@@KylerSteele It's so weird. I was using the small patch on the first day I got the camera but haven't been able to get it to come back since. I need to call Fuji I guess. Their menus are cryptic, but your video helped me get most of the menus set up so I won't have to dig through them as much now.
Worth noting the main reason for not using AF+MF is that it overrides your selection of focus priority to release priority. Same with back button focus.
And setting up lock is really useful. You skipped over it but by default the only thing that is locked when you lock the camera is the Q menu. The reason for me locking the camera is when giving to someone else or if I am in a crowded environment and being jostled, or maybe it's raining to prevent touchscreen issues. I don't want certain settings accidently changed. And not just the Q menu. So I rather select all, and then deselect those few functions I want to always have access to when locked. Which is very few.
Good inputs! Some people will definitely find that very helpful!
Will the Haoge thumb Grip, scratch the body of X100VI?
Hasn’t scratched mine but only time will truly tell
Thanks for the vid man, Where is the electronic level??
Should be in the EVF/LCD selection
My flashing TTL mode cannot change. Do you know to fix it?😢
Excellent video in content, clarity and speed of presentation. My x100vi arrived late yesterday and by morning today I'd sold my x100v (for $1475). Despite the excellent video I'm flummoxed on two issues. 1. I cannot make the front lever switch from EVF to OVF as it did on my x100v. 2. I cannot make pushing the rear wheel activate focus magnification which I could do on the x100v. What am I missing, or is my new camera defective?
Contacted Fuji Support: I had the EFV/LCD level set in 3-D (adds virtual horizon) and this happens to lock the viewfinder in EVF mode. Wow, how about that!
Thanks for the comment! I had no idea originally!
Is there a shadow option ? I see them in recipes but not in camera
There is a shadow option in the tone!
Hi, I want to know, If you take pictures in full auto mode with FUJIFILM X100VI, can the camera blurred the backround automatically? I dont like photos of a person with blurred background. I like only absolutely sharp photos (who wants take pictures on a holiday, take the shot somebody and background behind you, the castle for example to be blurred). So if full auto mode can prevent me to have blurred backrounds.
Shoot in aputure priority and aim for f8 to keep everything in focus
@@KylerSteele There is even higher numbers: f16, f11. Why not to choose them? Will not the photos be even sharper?
Dynamic range priority is life changing.
Maybe I’ll give it a try 👀
@@KylerSteele Yes please do! If you set a custom button to it, on tricky HDR scenes you can retrain information on both highlights and shadow on JPGS (no having to go in to the raw). It also TRANSFORMS each simulation or recipe immensely if you go from OFF to Low or High. It's like 3 SIMS in one.
Of course if you want to go back to the the Slide film inky blacks you can always choose to have it OFF and then expose for the highlights. The thing is no YT channel talks about this, aside maybe from PAL2TECH and he talks about it from a more technical POV.
does the HDR drive mode not do the same thing?@@JoelAlfaro
please do make the tutorial for video functionality!
Editing it currently 🧑🏽💻
Please post link of the lens hood 😊
Its in the description of the accessories video on my channel!
Thanks! Fujifilm nooby here

I just uploaded it! It’s processing and will be released in the morning!

On the way! Editing now!
More people need to start using HEIF, or it's never going to be a "standard". HEIF is the image format of the future, it's got 10bit colors and half the size of the JPEG for the same perceived quality. Apple adopted it for their devices all the way back in 2017, that's almost 7 years now, so all your iphones, macs etc support it already (windows might need plugins). And JPEG is old and crusty, it's a standard from the days of dial-up internet and cathode ray monitors. If you really want, it's always possible to convert your heic to jpeg when you need it.
Also, why leave raw uncompressed, their lossless compression almost halves the file size without loosing quality.
I’ve been an early adopter in the past and feel like I’d rather stick with standards til mass adoption. Also I don’t have any lack of storage so I like shooting uncompressed. Usually makes the file easier to edit also
The vast majority of users of both Windows and Mac, iPhone or Android... are ready for HEIF right now... and like you said it is HALF the size but it isn't the same perceived quality... its better, with 64x the color range because of the 10-bit vs. 8-bit. JPEG is hanging on for no good reason for most, and in the super rare situation you need to send a HEIF to someone with an ancient computer, you can convert it to JPEG... sure an extra step with a slight loss of quality... but someone with such an old setup wouldn't notice the difference anyway. The VAST majority of people's current equipment is ready for HEIF now, Capture One, Lightroom, Apple Photos etc. all work with HEIF, and uploading to all major social media sites with HEIF is supported.

How come you got black not silver ?
I had a silver x100v and didn't love the color. The black suits me way better!
Black is the only option 🙌🏼
User settings was confusing and got lost when I tried to follow along with my camera. Other than that very informative
Let me know if you have any specific questions!
👉🏻 You need to change this right now 👈🏻 It will only take about 55 minutes.
A lot of changes 😂
It's very impressive how you don't say the 'g' at the end of setting! Is that a cultural thing? When did you learn that behavior? Haha
Just never learned it I guess. I try to fix it sometimes but it’s hard to relearn
I wish they make flip screen for vlogging 😢
I like this screen design! XT5 is super similar camera with a vlog screen!
@@KylerSteele XT5 screen doesn´t flip.
@@mufana1 You are correct! FujiFIlm XH2S is the one I am thinking of!
This camera is meant for photography not vlogging, that’s why is wasn’t designed with a flip screen
Definitely “No” on the flip screen
