Here are my settings for the X100V! Let me know if you have any questions below. Enjoy!
Oh and I just bought you a coffee! (John 3:16)
No, no, no. I mean how do you set it up? connect with iPhone, look at settings on phone, skip this step? set date and time? How do you set it up?
@@rickved Can you help us understand what you are trying to know more about? If you mean initial setup the manual is always a good place to start: fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x100v/index.html
Very helpful Fred! Thank you!
Hi Fred! Really great work behind the scenes to bring this out! Well done! Cheers
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Very helpful as I enter the world of the X100V and Fujifilm. Thank you Fred.
Awesome! Happy shooting!
Excellent tutorial on how to setup your Fujifilm x100v. Appreciate you!!
Glad I could help. More Fuji content coming soon! Cheers!
This is an excellent presentation. Thank you so much :)
Thank you! I’m glad you found value I. The content!
Thank you, that was super useful!
Pleasure!
This might be a niche feature, but you can change the colours of your UI of your Fuji if you go to the 3th page of screen settings, and then change it to "Dark ambient colours". Love it
Yes, that’s a pretty neat feature! Thanks for sharing here. Cheers!
Great walk through. Thanks
Glad I could help! Happy shooting!
Saving this for tomorrow when my x100v arrives, I'm so excited!!!
Oh this is great! Let me know if any questions and happy shooting!
Great video, thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad you found value in it. Cheers!
Another good run-through of initial settings for a new X100V - many of which seem the same as other CZcams bloggists. This guy goes at a speed that allows us amateurs to keep up on our own Fuji, but He did lose me when he skipped through Flash settings as not being used by him… hmmm.
Worth keeping as a reference…
Thanks for the feedback. I indeed do not use flash with the X100 series. Cheers and happy shooting!
Very helpful
Just bought mine yesterday, thanks Fred!
So excited to take my first shots!
Happy shooting!
Brilliant. 👍
Thank you 🙏🏻
thank you!
Pleasure!

"Buy me a coffee so I can keep awake at night and make more free videos..." That is good caffeine logic! Oh I and enjoyed the video mate. :)
Haha, thanks a lot for keeping me awake at night ;) glad you enjoyed the videos. Cheers!
Thanks!
Welcome!
I never shoot RAW on my Fuji. To me, the entire point is to avoid that Sony song-and-dance of "oh crap, I went to the zoo and now I have 285 raw files to deal with."
100%! The ability to shoot both incredibly good JPEGs and RAWs if you ever need them is a real plus!
Thank you for the fine presentation. But what did you do to have the green level indicator not to disappear after each shot.
Not sure I get the question, you mean the level? You just have to activate it and it won’t turn off.
2:57
Note on uncompressed Raw: you lose the jpg preview when you move it to the computer. So a macs ability to quickview or see icons previews representing the image is lost, FYI
Yup, that’s why I use compressed RAW. No loss of quality and you get the previews in Lr (on a Mac at least)
Do you prefer the square hood or the official Fuji LH-X100 rounded hood? Any pro and cons between both? Are you also using the lens mate thumb rest? What about your shutter button? I just got my X100V so looking to buy a few things for it. How easy is it to switch to the TCL when using a hood and filter?
I had the original Fujifilm one on my X100 and X100F, and I now prefer the square version of the hood, but it is 100% aesthetic with no difference on sun flare blocking capability. The Lensmate Thumbrest is a must! It adds so much to the grip, I couldn’t live without it. Also the Lensmate version, gives you the ability to fold it so you can access the shutter and ISO dial easily. As for the TCL, you will have to remove the filter before screwing it on as it uses the same thread as the filter. The benefit is that your camera will retain weather sealing since your converter will acts as a filter, Hope this helps, happy shooting!
I saw multiple videos of x100v menu tors and NO ONE went through connection setting and connection modes, so I don't know whether this camera or the new version x100vi can shoot tethered or not😢
Sorry, one question:
What is the difference in the menu between "Focus Controlle On" and Focus Controlle off?
Thanks!
👍
One feature i would like to have is assign a Q Menu item or button to use the digital zoom. I can’t seem to find any way to use that feature for 50mm or 70mm without going through the menu system. Any ideas?
Have you tried assigning it to a (physical) button?
@@FredRanger I don't see that choice when I try to reassign a button. Am I missing it?
@@FredRanger I just found that the default setting for the control ring allows you to move from 35 to 50 to 70. No one talks about this feature but I think it is very useful.
Glad you found a solution! Happy shooting !
Please can you explain how to remove those clear little boxes across the screen.
Can you help me understand what you mean by « clear little boxes » do you mean the focus points? If yes, try pressing the joystick, it should get you. Ack to having just one single AF point.
I just got mine today. I have yet to get the flash to go off. Was really hoping to see if it was the settings, me, or the camera was the reason it was not going off.... as of this moment, I still don't know.
Did you make sure the flash was « on » on the flash settings or the menu? Alternatively you can hit the « Q » button to bring up the quick settings menu and activate from there. Enjoy your new camera!
Which thumbrest is that? Love the hinge!
This is the official Leica one
@@FredRanger Ty
just picked up one for 600$ only 500 shutter count cant wait
Quite the deal! Happy shooting!
Is it possible to weather seal this camera with a circular polarizer filter instead of a UV filter?
Any filter will technically « seal » the camera since its only non weather seal point is that lens whole.
Power supply off/com on + USB RAW Conv / backup restore. But I still have to download the files using a card reader. But with the camera connected you can now use the RAW conversion software access the film profiles etc.
Which fujiCamera do you recommend for a beginner street photographer ?
I would look into the XS line (X-S10 or X-S20) or the XE (X-E3 X-E4). they both offer the same sensors as their bigger brother (XT and X-Pro lines) but in a more affordable option.
Why do you like the second to smallest focus size point the most? 05:48
It gives me a nice balance between precision covering enough of the AF area.
You don't use flash with this camera?! This is one of the best to use flash, you can use flash even at 1/4.000 of a second to turn down the sunlight, to take pictures against the sunlight. And the optical viewfinder is very good with flash when the camera is set to a very high speed and you can not see in the electronic viewfinder (but you can set it to not preview the exposition).
Yup, I know that with its leaf shutter, this camera enables high speed sync, but I’m more of a natural light shooter anyway. Cheers!
@@FredRanger Great videos, thank you.
@@FredRanger
To maintain a natural light look with flash: expose for the bg, maybe a stop down, then gel the flash to match the environment!
Can someone tell me, please, how to record video on the x100v? I set the video mode and I can't change the aperture value, shutter speed and ISO(( I have tried everything and do not understand what is wrong(( Please help🙏
1- Press the DRIVE/DELETE button and select MOVIE in the drive-mode menu.
2- Adjust settings for program AE. Setting. ...
3- Press the shutter button to start recording. A recording indicator (V) and the time remaining are displayed while recording is in progress.
4- Press the button again to end recording.
Let me know if it works!
@@FredRanger Thank you for your response! I understand all that, but when I go into video mode and change the aperture or shutter speed or ISO, they don't change. The aperture value is always at 2.0, the ISO is 320, and the shutter speed is 1/25. Perhaps, if it is not difficult for you, you can explain in more detail what values and in what menu points I need to set. Or explain what could be the problem. I would be very grateful to you!
Thank you!
Jonas rask haven't used that.
What do you mean?
Sadly the camera is not available so I don’t need your video.
Hopefully you’ll find one and you can always come back to it later. Cheers
No explanations as to why he sets what he sets. Forget it.
There 42 other videos about Fujifilm cameras on my channel, how I use them, how I set them, and why I do so. I invite you to browse through them and revisit this comment. Happy shooting!
6:50 am I the only one who just keeps the focusing point in the middle and recomposes?? (like are you literally just holding the camera how you want the shot and then using the joystick to find focus?? Or maybe I don't know how the focusing points work?? I'm so confused by it.)
I used to do exactly like you (keep the single point in the middle and recompose) on my Nikon gear, and, for some reason, I started using the “joystick” with the Fujifilm system 11 years ago. Been using that technique ever since and never looked back as I find that I get a higher AF success rate especially when using a very shallow depth of field.
