Abacab was my 1st Genesis album too. I had it on cassette back in the 80's. I would later see them on the Invisible Touch tour in 86. That was a great show. Makes me want to dig in my Genesis vinyl collection!
Gil great to see you drop in !!! I never was a big cassette person but many of us in that era did get cassettes I would do a mix tape of my records for friends at the time. Yes spin some Genesis !! You remember way back in ol'VC day there was a huge vibe going around on Genesis, seemed like everyone was showing and talking about them in videos. thanks for watching !!!
Hello BB VK. I have been surrounded by Gabriel, Genesis and Crimson fans/collectors for the last 47 years. It started when I went to see Led Zeppelin in 1977. My cousin Mark, his brother Matt and all of their friends were huge fans of those three bands. More so than the Blimp. I did not get it at the time. At the time I couldn't understand why anyone would choose the "Lamb Lies Down" or Crimson's "Red" over "Physical Graffiti". But I was only sixteen back then. What did I know? It took me a little longer to appreciate all three bands. I did like ABACAB. It may be my favorite Genesis release. I liked the Phil Collins period of Genesis over Gabriel. But I liked Gabriel's solo stuff over everything that Genesis did. Nice to hear that you took your sister to see the show in 1983. I actually did not know that they came in four different covers. Well done VK. I really like this series~

Great collection. Like you, I much prefer the Collins era of Genesis. That run from Duke through Invisible Touch was killer.

For me the first one I bought was 1983’s “Genesis” but I was familiar with Abacab and Duke. I have the 4 80’s on vinyl, but only a 3CD greatest hits where I was introduced to the early stuff, I love the early stuff and have pre ordered all the Acoustic Sounds 75th series Genesis records.
Abacab has 4 color variation covers, incl a spine letter like Zeppelins Outdoor LP (mine is a D)

Ed yes you are right I forgot to bring that up on the spine letters. The '83 self title was pretty solid also for the Collins era that would be the first tour I seen them on. I have not looked in to the 75th AS series and what they are putting out yet. Thanks for stopping by and watching !!!!!
Woop Woop hi ya Vance....👋🏻..happy 🇺🇸💥4th....now I dig ole Phil but my emotions are in and out on the band after Peter left....Selling England was my first encounter w the band and wow I never looked back....so I guess I’m saying I stuck w em up to to Abacab, I did pick up the 83 Mama album just because lol.....man o man I have fond memories of Duke when I heard it w a close cousin who came east to visit me....and he brought it w him....and I was renting a house right smack in the middle of a corn field 😮 hehehe, and we had some adult goodies and it was a wow moment 🍻💨🍻💨🍻it was a cheers moment 😳🤯😳good to see ya Vance....I never got the chance to see em🤭☹️...I too am a huge fan of Trick of...later V👋🏻🎶💥🙏🏻✊🏻😎☮️❤️🌈

I currently own no Genesis on vinyl (only the best of on CD), but back in the day I did own Abacab (likewise my first) and Three Sides Live. :Loving this series you're doing, and might "steal" the idea and launch a series too....if you don't mind. Sounds fun.
Hey Jeff !! Yes please do a series like this I would like to see what you have and what album got you into a band. I think Abacab was a starting point for many of us in are early teens at that time. thanks for dropping in !!!!
