Why Are Women Not Allowed To Wear Perfume? | Ustadha Taiymiyyah | Faith IQ

  • If the Prophet (SAW) did not like bad smells, why is it that women are not allowed to wear perfume? Shouldn't women follow the Sunnah as well?
Women should not reveal their adornment. But it is ok to wear fragrance that is light and does not linger once they have left the room. It is important for both men and women to keep clean and presentable.
Ustadha Taimiyyah Zubair further answers the question and explains

Jazak Allah khairan sister for all your effort . I am a revert and i come from a very clean backround alhamdulilah. I found islam beeing the only religion which strictly talks about rulling on cleaning , but Unfortunately you will find so many muslims not taking care of their hygene , many times during the cogregational salah u feel disturbed by the others bad odours 😐

Not defending anyone. But I noticed a lot of labour workers or those who don't necessarily earn a lot usually struggle with odor and it's not because they are unhygienic. They work in conditions that makes them sweat a lot and they cannot change clothes during the day. You have this a lot with taxi drivers as well, as sitting in the car and sometimes they fall asleep, they start sweating which causes a smell. They just can't help it.

I think men and women are different in terms of their physical and biological attributes and that's why there are different rulings in islam for some things between men and women, so take example the hijab or niqab, men don't wear that we have a way less clothing that's needed to be worn than compared to women, now why is this the case I believe thay it's due to differences physically between men and women, a non Muslim example would be just go to the beach, you see men aren't wearing bikinis while women are, and men are wearing shorts while women wear undies or something, or look at how in Prostitution, Porn or Only fans women make up the vast majority of the service providers about 70 to 90 percent I believe while men make up the vast majority of consumers, this indicates a sexual drive or attraction difference

Our society usually goes to great lengths to say that men and women are exactly alike so that is why you may feel doubt concerning this area, but I encourage you to ponder, me looking for evidences and then pondering helped me with even the most controversial aspects of islam, and ultimately you may ask why is that women should wear a longer hijab over themselves (hijab is a condition of modesty) other than what I mentioned ultimately thinking about how different cultures have different clothing for each gender like in India they show their belly button for the women as modesty, whilst for nuns or muslims it's not the case, or 100 years back hijab was the norm and now wearing provocative clothes are, I mean there are some tribes that wear nothing at all or next to nothing and those who wear next to nothing still have a differnce in clothing amongst genders like the men covering their privates while the women do that and their chest, I mean when you think about if they are living near naked in forests why don't we do be completely naked in society now which is technologically advanced, someone may say decency is the reason but why must decency be for example be the clothing of now and not the niqab or why must it not be someone who is near nude, ultimately it goes back to Allah, Allah knows and he has imply said that it is honourable for the women to wear the hijab, your creator, an all knowing and merciful God surely would have the greatest authority on such or any subject Inshallah that helps

Utterly nonsense. There is no authantic hadheeths saying women are not allowed to wear perfume strong or mild. If men can wear it why not women.
This is so stupid. Yes there is a limit for everything, if you wear it for a wrong intension yes than it's Haraam. It applies to to both men and women.
The hadheeth many scholars referred to is not even from a confirmed sahaabi, he may be a person lived in the time of Prophet peace be upon him. According to that hadheeths a women who go out from home with wearing perfume is a fornicator. Seriously? Will Prophet will ever say a word like that a women? Noway... He is rahmath for all of us men and women.
If its really Haraam then he will say simply it's Haraam. Not only for women.

Whatever you gonna say in reply, say it with evidence, we dont want your explanation you are not qualified like our goldern scholars of Islam! Next time give evidence not your own explanation otherwise you will be held responsible in the court of Allah!!! Just because you wear light perfume and roam around in public and it dosent mean its Halal! I would assume that you know ,if any Muslima follows your advice regarding this matter, you will be held responsible for their action,. so dont just follow your whims and desire, folow the Sareeha! You dont pretend thats you know everything !Adronment also mean wearing jeweally, you yourself violated that when wearing it public when non mahram men are watching u!!!!! So, go and learn from

First of all, when you speak make sure to speak with manners and wipe that arrogance/condescendance out. Secondly, she is basing her sayings on the following hadith :Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If a woman puts on perfume and passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, then she is such and such,” and he spoke sternly - meaning an adulteress. Narrated by Abu Dawood (4173) and al-Tirmidhi. Many have interpreted that as the intention of attracting men with perfume, or wearing in it so strongly that non-mahram would smell you when they pass by you. Why are you basing your sayings on? Wearing jewelry is haram? Did you cite any source? Before being condescendent and attacking the sister, you should very much check your behaviour and provide sources for your sayings.
