This seems like yesterday, but it was 26 years ago wow.
The older you get the faster it goes is a true thing.
@@charlesbaldo that is very true.
Dam you old big fella
I’m just now 22
@@JBeats111 it will happen to you too, although you probably still don't believe it at that age
Wild year. Great movies, lots of events and incidents....and Rosie O'Donnell fooled everyone into thinking she was "nice".
The model for Bob's Big Boy restaurants.
@@gregggoss2210 🤣🤣🤣
Isn't that the truth.
There was always something off with her. Never watched her show.
@@joeheid4757 What is the truth, is we all remember, when boy's were actually boy's and girl's were actually girl's, and there was NO confusion, about it. Also boys and girls' knew what public bathroom, to use
Back in simpler times. Thank you for the memories. I was 29. 😊
I was 22 that year
Not for me! Demon name Verne and his cousin Ron were plotting! Wish I never met these people! Maybe someone will put their hands and mistreat his daughter and then he will know how it feels! Demons!
you forgot to mention the Olympic bombing. overall great blast from the past memorial of 1996. loved it!!!
A blast from the past?
Hey you are right. I forgot about that, but it was huge at the time
Richard Jewell was falsely accused of the bombing and the fake news was born. They crucified him and ruined his life.
And on April 16th, the rock supergroup KISS announced a reunion tour with all four original members: Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. It would become the highest grossing concert tour of the year. In October, the New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves after falling behind 2-0 in the series and won the next four in a row. It was their first championship in 18 years and their 24th World Series title in franchise history.
The less I know about the band Kiss and Baseball the better. For shame
A 6 year old child being considered a "beauty queen" is beyond creepy and Insanity !
Agreed
I agree that it's awful, but child beauty pagents had been around for ages. I believe P.T. Barnum started them. I'm assuming that's what they meant when calling her a "beauty queen". I can't imagine what the poor child had to endure.
Everybody knows it was her kid brother that raped and killed her. I don't think people understood just how much moy and power the parents had and they covered it up
This was (so far) my favourite year on the planet. I would love to go back for just one day... really any day.
I was 26 years old during this year. Compared to today it wasn't a bad time. I had fun as a youth. We all got along. Few people cared about the color of our skin. We were making real progress. Not like today. I doubt many of today's 20 year olds could say they are enjoying life.....unless you are from a rich family...or a family member of a politician...otherwise, .you will not be able to enjoy the privilege of life like we used to....that freedom is long gone
My Son is 25 and you nailed it. I feel so bad for him, this should be a time where he is having fun but sadly he is not able to
Yep. We minded our own business and we didn’t really care what other people were doing. The dark side of the internet is this compelling need to have an opinion on everyone and everything. Minding everyone else’s business instead of our own. I am actively trying to detox 😉
Amen !
What you need is a major refresher in grammar and punctuation. And you need a refresher in history. Your take is way off!!
@@JackiePhillipsTheSocialPet This is advice from someone who starts a new sentence with the word "and".......... ???????
Music videos that I like for 1996.
Blackstreet, No diggity
Toni Braxton, Unbreak My heart
Counting Crows, Mr Jones
The fugees, killing me softly
Alanis morissette, ironic
Tupac, California Love
No doubt, Don't speak
Ginuwine, Pony
Bones thugs and Harmony, the crossroads
The smashing pumpkins, 1979
Ironic is my ringtone.
Michael Hutchins lead singer of Inxs was found dead in his hotel room in July 1996.
I still refuse to believe he committed suicide.😪
He certainly did not. The music industry is as dark as it gets.
I think it was an accident, much like the passing of David Carradine. Still tragic. To this day, he still comes up in music conversations from time to time. He's not so easily forgotten.
Accidental suicide by autoerotic asphyxiation. A sad loss indeed a very gifted and person. The album Shabooh Shobaah is a masterpiece.
You forget how unpopular INXS was back then. They were like Bon Jovi, nobody would admit to liking them. Hutchence may seem like a legend now, but when he died he was considered a failure. Same as Michael Jackson. People act like he was being treated like a legend but he was being bullied to hell and back. It's no wonder they lost their control.
It happened in November 1997
You didn't mention The Centennial Olympic Park bombings, The 72 win Chicago Bulls, the movie Space Jam, The launch of Animal Planet, TV Land and The Fox News Channel, Dolly The Sheep cloning among many other things.
Independence Day was the last movie I saw in a theater and it was a drive-in. I miss the 90’s
This I s the year my daughter was born, it's amazing that it was so long ago..
Looking back, 1996 became the election between the candidate who couldn't get it up and the candidate who couldn't keep it down...
Poor JonBenet. I always go back to the fact that whomever the killer was had the time to write a long ransom screed on a pad of paper that had belonged to the Ramseys. If it wasn't a family member, he felt extremely comfortable being inside the house rather than fleeing as soon as he could.
@@orangehoof The parents wrote that note to save their own behinds.
To save their son
Also in 1996…
Former host of ‘Family Feud’, Ray Combs committed suicide by hanging at age 40. 📺😢💔🌹😭
His family, friends and former colleagues were devastated.
Ray Combs took his own life, thanks to Jonathan Goodson! His father, Mark Goodson with Howard Felsher and Gene Wood were very loyal to Combs.
That makes me sad to this day. I still love watching reruns with Ray as host 💔
@@jenniferhansen3622 He was my favorite host.
@@pernelldh Mine too! He was so energetic and seemed to love the contestants. I love how he would often dance to the theme music, while the credits were rolling, at the end of the episodes 🙂
Fantastic year. I would 💟 to go back!!
I'm one of those people who keeps thinking that the 90s was 10 years ago.
I turned 20 that year, so it was a bittersweet goodbye to my teenage years. I celebrated with a party, my Mom celebrated by handing me a rental agreement.
🤣
capitalism. such a warm and compassionate system.
@@keetahbrough Lighten up. Sheesh...🙄
Yup..you are a grown up now...your mom had a wicked sense of humor
@@lukeyznaga7627 She did, but on this occasion, she wasn't laughing. HaHa!
1996 was the same year I was born and it's the same year as my old Ford truck.
Thanks for the memories😊
I was 14 in '96. Seeing this brings back memories! I can't believe how much time has passed. It really seemed like yesterday. What memories! ❤
GREAT VIDS!
LOVE YOUR 90S SERIES!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!
Twister and Independence Day were great movies. I don't remember much personally from that year, no life changes and no big vacation trips. For a few years around that time I used a video camcorder exclusively and its much harder to play those back for memories. I did have a Motorola Startac phone. EDIT: I do remember the Carolina Panthers, which started in 1995 moved to their current Charlotte stadium in 1996 and had a great 12-4 record and even beat the Cowboys in the playoffs!
Love Your Videos. Thanks for Sharing.
Good work as usual, but I don’t get including a children’s tv show (Blues Clues) and giving a complete pass to the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing and the persecution/witch hunt against Richard Jewell. Still, keep up the good work….I remain a huge fan of this channel!
People seem to forget about the Olympic bombing 😭
And Kurt Angle winning a gold medal with a broken freakin' neck.
I would so my soul to go back to 1996 in Body I had back then and what I know now one of the best years of my life I was 19 going on 20 And one hell of an athlete
1996 was one of the best years of my life and starTac was the best phone.
Great job capturing the essence of 1996.
Champions of 1996
Super Bowl XXX: Dallas Cowboys
Stanley Cup: Colorado Avalanche
NBA: Chicago Bulls
World Series: New York Yankees
BTW, the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in their very first season in Denver, Colorado (they moved from Quebec City, Quebec the summer before), and Super Bowl XXX marked the third time that the Dallas Cowboys met the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.
Pittsburgh had won Super Bowls X (1976) and XII (1979), but Dallas prevailed this time, handing the Steelers their first SB loss.
I was 9 years old back then. I remember going to Toys R Us and seeing LONG lines for the Nintendo 64 and Tickle Me Elmo. Both were in high demand that year.
Great Job!👍

FEBRUARY 13: Late legendary hip-hop icon TUPAC releases his final and most successful double lp, "ALL EYEZ ON ME" on Death Row/Interscope records. The album was completed only weeks after his release from Clinton Correctional Facility in October 1995 due to the label's CEO Suge Knight bailing him out to sign with the infamous imprint. Production was handled by Dr. Dre., DJ Quik, Johnny J, Daz Dillinger and others and featured many fellow labelmates and other various artists. The album contained many hits such as, "I AIN'T MAD AT CHA", "HOW DO U WANT IT", "2 OF AMERIKA'S MOST WANTED", and the album's biggest hit, "CALIFORNIA LOVE".
APRIL 23: Cleveland, OH hip-hop quintet BONE THUGS-N-HARMONY releases "DA CROSSROADS (remix)"; a single from their 1995 sophomore album "E. 1999 ETERNAL". The song became an immediate hit as well as a crossover smash for the group as the song pays tribute to fallen friends and family members; particularly to their mentor Eric "EAZY-E" Wright who passed away from complications from AIDS the year prior.
MAY: Legendary hip-hop producer DR. DRE surprisingly announced his departure from the infamous rap music label, DEATH ROW RECORDS; the label he launched along with ex drug kingpin Michael "Harry-O" Harris and former bodyguard Marion "Suge" Knight five years prior after leaving rap group N.W.A. Citing a hostile and unpredictable work environment as his motive for leaving, he gives full ownership to Knight with his music publishing still intact and launches AFTERMATH ENTERTAINMENT with Interscope records owner JIMMY IOVINE.
NOVEMBER 5: DEATH ROW RECORDS releases the lp, "THE DON KILLUMINATI: THE 7 DAY THEORY"; the first posthumous recording from TUPAC SHAKUR under the cryptic alias MAKAVELI nearly two months after his untimely death. The album would be the first of many posthumous albums of Shakur's work due to much material that was recorded and vaulted during his life; also leading many to speculate that he was still alive. Hits from the album included, "TOSS IT UP", "HAIL MARY", and "2 LIVE AND DIE IN L.A."
NOVEMBER 6: NEW LINE CINEMA releases the cult classic crime/drama thriller, "SET IT OFF", directed by film producer F. GARY GRAY (of 'Friday' fame) and leading star cast of JADA PINKETT-SMITH, VIVICA A. FOX, KIMBERLY ELSIE, and DANA "QUEEN LATIFAH" OWENS. The film focuses on four female friends from South Central, L.A. who suffers a series of individual misfortunes on different occasions while trying to maintain an honest living. Citing their lack of substantial funds and unfair general treatment due to their race and gender, the women plan a robbery at a bank in which one of the group was recently terminated from. After one successful hit, the ladies later plan another in an effort to escape the city for better pastures. But in the process, they become conflicted with themselves and each other, which in turn made the second hit more complicated. In the end, all except one of the women suffer their fate in their attempt to evade the law.

I've watched your series, and Timeline. I enjoy both. ONe thing I want to add.. because they way the series is formatted, does not deliver the punch of some people's influence. For example. Lady Diana. She gets maybe 2 mentions, and the obsession with her was complete and total, everyone knew her and her work. So why don't ya'll include the work she did.. in the series. But relate the work and its relevance.. to the years she made it relevant. Her engagement. Her wedding. The births of her children. The scandal after scandal. Her AIDS hospital visit and changing public opinion, no small feat. Her separation, the book release, the interview, the divorce. All these were events in history.. because it addressed social issues, always. Sometimes political, although she claimed humanitarian. But that's what's missing. Same with JFK jr. His relevance. To be fair, also include the Charles interview. That provoked the revenge dress, and something changed for women, everywhere. I know you can't do it over.. I"m just saying that including these kinds of events in your presentations would help solidify that impact that some people had, on history.
Miss you Kobe ! You were a great representative of humanity !
