  • Second year anniversary of this channel not only smashing the ignorance of Christian fundamentalism but the attempt to prove God exists and Yeshua's resurrection. What I have found and am I going to head to the baptismal waters of reconversion?
    If you would like to read a novel about what I think the Apocalypse would be like if Christ ever returned (a tale the fundamentalist will despise) click the link below. And may God bless you---just not the God that floods an entire world.

      'What would Yeshua be like if he returned for the apocalypse?' He'd be late, that's what he would be.
      He promised his disciples he would be back, with an army of angels, while they were still alive.

    2:09. "These people have been intrusive in my life for decades"
    Yep, they've been intrusive for millennia. They are ordered to infect everyone with this belief and to threaten you if you don't accept their "gift". It's about power, not love. They are bullies.
    And this is the answer to the question: Why do you care about something you don't believe in?

    • @darwinskeeper421
      @darwinskeeper421 Před měsícem +4

      I guess I have two answers. I care enough about the truth to be interested in what they have to say. More importantly, they are trying to realign the government to force the rest of us to live the way they believe God wants us to live. If they just just went to church, read the Bible and occasionally talked to us about their faith, but otherwise left us alone, I probably wouldn't care about them.

    Having a sense of conviction that death is not the end, and that there is more to our existence than this narrow window of a single lifetime MAY require some leap of faith (as you comment at about 7:50).
    However, in my observation and experience; making that leap doesn't automatically translate into (nor IMO does it benefit from) having to buy into the whole Xtian dog and pony show (despite what some Fundamentalists might have you believe).

    First video I’ve seen of yours. Couple thoughts. Jumped out at me that you say Mark was written in the late 2nd century, against general scholarly consensus, including Ehrman. And I have heard Dillahunty say on numerous occasions that he doesn’t know what would convince him, but that a god that bases his ‘saving’ on belief certainly would and yet chooses not to give it to him.
    It really only matters to me keeping these ‘facts’ straight to avoid deflection. If I make the point that because Mark was written over a hundred years after Jesus, we can easily read a lot more opportunity for legend-ing, the conversation will switch to dating the gospels. The more accepted 30 years to me, is plenty of time to allow for legend anyway. But now they bypass the point by contesting the amount.
    Same as the point about Dillahunty, it just obscures an important point he’s making about god’s supposed knowledge and intention.
    Not trying the trash your video, just wondering why stray from established facts when they would stand on their own..?

As someone from a Soviet culture (now an immigrant in the USA) I believe that the resurrection was staged by the Romans, as explained in a popular book where I'm from - "The Gospel of Afranius"; like many others, I read it in childhood and never thought about this question again - until coming to the USA and noticing a stark contrast in the discussion of this question. What's wrong with that explanation?? I'm confused, what am I missing here?.. @@valinorean4816 I would have thought the main reason to doubt the Romans faked the crucifixion or resurrection is that they didn't care about Christ or Christians. Jesus appears to have been one Jewish preacher amongst dozens, while his followers were small in number and not worthy of note. The Romans would have had little reason to go to the hassle and cost to hit out against a tiny cult.

    Of course there is not there is only proof he was crucified there is 0 proof of any resurrection. The original story didn't even include a resurrection it was only the two later books written much later that both further embellished the myth with the final one including Thomas and the great cop out that you don't need proof just belief. On top of all that Jesus only meaningful prophecy was that he would return in the life time of some of the apostles which have all been dead now for 2000+ years.

    I also delved into research on the subject of Roman crucifixion and found that the crucifixion of Jesus was a cleverly devised crucifiction: that Jesus was nailed to a two-beam cross that Non-Christian Romans had called a _tropaeum._
