  • One of Iceland’s most famous dishes is sheep’s head, or svið. Culture Trip speaks to Sindri Snær, head chef at Mýrin Mathús, which is one of the few places that still serves traditional Icelandic dishes year round.

In Africa in Nigeria goat head called “Isi Ewu” is also a delicacy the skin is very tasty. It’s served whole in some places but mostly it’s chopped up.

As we Turks, eat lamb(Tr. kuzu)'s and calf(Tr. dana)'s head(Tr. kelle) hot or cold. Cold one calls as "kuzu/dana kelle söğüş".

I’m vegan but have no problem people eating sheep’s head. Not to waste any of their parts is respectful and ecological

This is the dumbest comment I have read in a long time. You shouldn't have any problems either with people eating cow and horse meat because all parts of the cow and horse are being used for products as well.

I live in Wales Uk, in the sixties I worked in a butchers shop and some of the older people would ask for a sheep head. Skinning it was a fiddly job. I asked a lady how did she cooked it and she said she made sheep head stew. A head is ten percent of an animals body weight so I understand why in hard times it was utilised.

Of course dear man! It is part of your culture, and I watched some youtubers like feeling disgust after eating it. I am from Georgia and when I was little my uncle was eating cow's brain and sometimes tongue too.

The sheep head is very popular here in México. We eat everything as well; the eyes, the brain, the cheeks... and the most wonderful meat, the tongue. Very nice clip, I'm hungry now.

Had it at Myrin last year...I think I even sat at the same table as him in this video. If you think lamb smells, intensify that smell by 20x and it's exactly what this smells like. It's good though...if you can get over the sight, the eyeball is the best part.

Add garlic and onions in the water. In the last 20 minutes, add chopped cilantro. And let it sit for an hour off the heat for the flavor to build up.
