15:29 I feel your emotion here. I feel the same driving my 2007 Cayman S, the cabin flat6 sensation is overwhelming.
It's hard not to feel a proper connection with these cars when they're lit! I have a 997 and it's exactly the same. Not as polished as the newer cars, but you feel so much more involved.
I have a 2012 987.2 Cayman S that I bought new with basically every option available. 6 speed manual. Porsche Aerokit looks much better than the aftermarket wing on your car. Fewer than 450 2012 Caymans sold in North America. Only a fraction of those were Cayman S models. Can sell it anytime for almost what I paid for it!
Can't beat free motoring! I get the wing, it is a love or hate for sure!
I love that, sounds fantastic.
It sounds like a baby Klaus!!!
Thank you and UGH! I was finally settled in my mind to go for 981 - now you’ve made it back to be tricky for me. 😂
For me the 981 just looks so much better, but there’s no denying the 987 is a fine handling and very talkative sport car!
My fav 911 is 964 rs … great review of this car 👌🏻 affordable Porsche and that flat 6 noise via exhaust etc is epic
Hi Bobby, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, sound of this Cayman is incredible and really does give an amazing driving experience, especially for the money. Very few cars will match it at this price point. Can't wait to do a review of my own 997 when the engine is re-fitted next year 👍
Affordable sports car is somewhat questionable as they cost almost the same as a 997 to keep them on the road, my Indy has confirmed it as well. Fantastic sports car though but the running costs is not affordable especially now that all the radiator cross pipes need replacing, suspension needs refreshing, CV joints corroded plus regular servicing. It does stack up but worthy!
Great review and awesome car! I can't help but think that if it had sports chrono the PDK would be much more responsive unless it's got the same software anyway
Its not disastrous, just a little delay when compared to something like a DCT box from BMW. If Sports Chrono does impact the shifts, it will be purely down to software, rather than anything mechanical. I need to find out!
I was really interested in this one , mainly to see what the ride quality was like ! I must be getting old !
Sometimes ‘upgraded’ suspension is anything but !
It’s sounds tremendous under load was a bit much on the cold start , maybe cos it was inside 😂
Those KWs are epic! When driving it on light load it’s fine. Just proper noisy on load. Could always out the std cats back in to quieten it down. But once you hear it, I don’t think you would want to touch it!
Great video but at 67 years young I appreciate my limitations and my 4 series is probably my last decent fast car, but you never know which is why I keep watching. Just bought a Fiat Panda 2011 Dynamic in Spain ,don't guess the price it was 6K euros with 75 K on the clock. The price's are crazy for 20 year old cars with 200 K plus on the clock.
4 Series is still a nice car! What model? And to think people here complain about prices !
More or less a standard 2.00 Litre Diesel M Sport x drive albeit with Heads Up display. My wife's ideal car would be the Yaris but with the current insurance premiums it does not make sense
@ silver fox sorry , your comment is totally illogical.
What does this
Car have to do with a 911 turbo ?
The 911 turbo is now more of 2+2 gt car , this a lightweight 2 seater naturally aspirated sports car.
Porsche makes many superb cars not just the 911 .
Couldn’t agree more. Turbos are a rapid daily and very capable, but dull in many ways. You need to be deep into 3 figures before they start to feel alive. And that just doesn’t work in the UK. To make them sound and feel alive they really need to be modified too imo.
Aaarg. Going to miss out on this one, it ticks a lot of boxes. Sadly, I'm a good six months away from being set for my next motor.
Such a shame, as it's such a unique and truly sorted Cayman !
How is that exhaust setup? Does it drone while cruising at highway speeds at lower RPMs?
It's not overly drony, but it's far from quiet!
@@JamesGlenCarSales1982 thanks for the response! Would you have any hesitation taking the car on a long 8 hr road trip with this exhaust setup?
Well I sold you my 997, which was my first fav. Now I love my 991 with PDK, But just don't use it. Think I did 1000 miles last year
Which 997 was a it? (Sorry, joys of screen names!)
silver aero kitted one@@JamesGlenCarSales1982
love the front lip where can i get one ?
Hi Nick,
the cars gone now I'm afraid, and don't have the paperwork to hand. Try Design 911, they usually car stock of body parts. Stephen
Has this been sold already???
Hi Henry, yes, the Cayman is now sold I'm afraid. Stephen
I’m sorry but if you have money and your going to buy a Porsche you buy a 911 Turbo
Yes it’s nice but it’s not a 911 Turbo.
I feel the same with many makes when it comes to this.
I honestly think a 911 Turbo is one of the dullest of the range unless heavily modified. They’re too easy to drive and sound so flat and uninteresting. Fast and very capable (in any weather), but so many other more engaging Porsche models to choose from at a fraction of the cost too. Plus, you’re going to get a complete nail for anything under 35-40k whereas you can pick up an amazing Boxster/Cayman for 25-35k
@@JamesGlenCarSales1982 Couldn't agree more.
a lot of people will say that whilst the cayman isn't is powerful as the 911, it is more fun to drive. Also, a 911 Turbo is going to cost a shit-ton more than this cayman, even with all the mods.
