- Welcome to Mahner Farms! In this exciting video, join us as we begin the process of reclaiming an old pasture for beef grazing. This pasture, unused and neglected for almost 20 years since we quit dairy farming in 2005, is about to get a much-needed makeover.
Watch as my wife, my dad, and I roll up our sleeves to tackle this challenging project. Using a brush trimmer and a power saw, we clear the overgrown fence line, removing all the old, rotten posts and rusted wire. This meticulous work is the first step in preparing the entire perimeter for brand new posts and wire installation.
Key highlights include:
Fence Line Clearing: Detailed footage of us trimming brush and cutting down overgrowth.
Removing Old Posts: Step-by-step process of extracting rotten posts.
Dealing with Rusted Wire: Tips and tricks for safely removing old wire.
Family Teamwork: See how we work together as a family to reclaim this pasture.
If you’re interested in farm reclamation, pasture management, or just enjoy seeing a hardworking family revitalizing their land, this video is for you!

Love the old dairy barns. So nostalgic. It is sometimes sad, driving through Wisconsin, and seeing that 90% of the family farms have been totally abandoned and the land is either going fallow, or just being rented by some big operation in the area.
Yes they are! And i agree. Unfortunately the industry has gotten so bad, that there is no coming back at this point. The age of Wisconsin truly being the dairy state is over. The era of the family farm is all but dead.
I'm loving this farm vlog series. Keep 'em coming.
More to come! It takes a lot of work to try and manage upkeep on a farm, so there's lots of content to be made.
I remember doing this type of work on the family farm when i was a lot younger. Sometimes i miss it a lot.
I know how you feel. I'm just finally getting back to it, and it's laborious work, but well worth it.
A beautiful day for work. A little warm, but not too bad.
You got that right!
Love these videos! Very entertaining and actually informative. Keep them coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Great video, absolutely love this type of content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Love it!

Maintaining Pasture is one of those non glamorous farming jobs that are extremely important, but so many people are too lazy to do right.
Yep, and that's why it so often gets done badly. You have to take your time, and put the fence where it belongs, not where it's easiest to do. And sometimes, that's a lot of work.

I love clearing land. One of my all time favorite jobs around here at Zilla acres. 😂 I have scourged many a piss elm down here in the creek bottom. 🌲🪓
Our piss elm all got killed off by the Dutch Elm beetles, so we've gut most of it up for firewood in the last twenty years.
@@DeutzFarmer96 i literally had a 30 footer uproot this morning in high wind. Fell about 10 feet from the back porch. 😂
@@serdavezilla6494 Lucky fall. The wind is usually not very considerate around here.
@@DeutzFarmer96 storm season in Texas. 😂
