    Arsenal fan here. The City-Spurs result and the Heung-Min Son miss broke my heart, but speaking objectively, Ange Postecoglu is absolutely the man to take Spurs to the top. I am very content with Arteta and I believe he is the perfect man for us and wouldn't swap him for any other manager, and yet I still find myself a little jealous of Spurs having Ange. I can already see they will have success under his stewardship and as an Arsenal fan it concerns me, because I do not want them catching up to the top teams in the league. Ange is incredibly well spoken and not afraid to say things as they are - something that other managers often shy away from. He is a headstrong manager who places extreme importance on his values and if you don't agree with them, you won't succeed at his club. I actually see a pretty strong resemblance between him and Arteta when he first joined Arsenal, with a heavy importance on values and having a playstyle and sticking to it. If Spurs stick with him and back him to get the players he wants, he can absolutely take Spurs to glory in the long run.

    Spurs last three managers have all called out Spurs. At this moment they only have themselves to blame. Over here in England the outpouring of respect for Ange from fans of all clubs has been amazing. The disappointment in seeing Spurs fans actively cheering for Man City everytime a goal went in, seeing fans say "throw the match Ange" and now Ange confirming that one of his own staff members said "We should play the kids tonight" so they would lose easier. As a football fan, I never want a team that I support to lose under any circumstances. At the end of the day, beyond the mathematics of rivalries, there are is a higher principle and that is love and respect for the game itself. We love football before we love our preferred teams. It's why fans left their differences aside a few years ago to protest against the Euroleague... Superleague... whatever it was called. It wasn't just about team A or team B, but about the sport and its spirit and honouring that. There is a code to it and it requires placing the integrity of the sport above everything. Shame on supporters who wanted their own team to lose, just so their rivals don't win a title.

Beat them on the pitch, fair and square, win the title yourself. Is that the height of Tottenham's ambition? Is this their philosophy? Being a loser is fine as long as Arsenal also loses? But when Spurs started struggling this season, I told friends that I didn't mind so much. Ange seems like such an incredible and dedicated leader. Spurs are fun as hell to watch, even if they're not doing as well. I hope people don't forget that the team is a project and it'll take multiple seasons to turn around their overall performance; to be bitter and angry that this season didn't end as well as it could have is understandable but also myopic. They’ve had one of the best Premier League strikers of all time in Harry Kane, second only to Alan Shearer and top England goal scorer of all time, but the rest of the squad has had holes all over it - his break out season was the 2014-2015 season and if you look at the teams he’s been in from that point there have been so many weaknesses.
    Arguably their best season was 2018-2019 when they got to the Champions League Final, but you look at the team they had and the only really top players they had were Lloris, Eriksen, Son, Dele Alli before he fell off a cliff and Kane … the rest of their team was fucking bobbins man

    American Tottenham fan here, Ange is spot on. This entire saga pitted fans with the correct mentality of wanting Spurs to win and not focusing on Arsenal against the ones who clearly care too much about Arsenal. I’ve been called a belland, prick, and other names by so called “real fans” over this saga. Not many of us expected Tottenham to win, but outright rooting for them to lose to spite Arsenal is repugnant. Ange is right whose side are some of these people on. I have an Arsenal fan roommate and I could have taken the banter if Spurs won/draw and it led to Arsenal winning the league. These fans need to grow up or find a new club altogether.

He learned the true definition of Spursy in that match. I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigns over this, why try to turn a team into winners if even their fans have no interest in winning. If spurs really wanna compete for trophies again like they did from 2015-2019, they need a culture.
    People forget poch basically had this amazing culture in Tottenham. There’s interviews every where about how since he didn’t have the budget to get players, he had to get their players fitness up, probably why you would see on fifa that spurs had really good players with tons of stamina.
    Spurs lost that mentality as soon as poch left, they had been trying to ride on other culture that manager sbring in, like Mourinho, Conte, but those are obviously two managers who leave after 3 years max no matter the circumstances.
    Ange for spurs could instil a new culture similar to Poch if they actually play their cards right. Rosie ally since spurs have been making a lot of money now that their stadium has been built.
    He is a manager so many teams would want right now.
    If he leaves, Barcelona, Bayern, man united, and Juventus probably all call for him. You guys do know that right? His mentality is something a lot of managers don’t have.

On the one hand, we managed to lose while still playing a decent game and managed to spite Arsenal, which is particularly sweet after the humiliating celebration of saint totteringham's day by them after they won at our stadium.
    On the other hand, Ange still proved to us that at least he of all people, the man at the driver's seat, has the winning mentality and that inspires great confidence in a future where Spurs fans dont need to settle for being shameless.

  • @tholomew
    @tholomew Před 2 měsíci +1

    As an Arsenal fan I feel like his frustration is more due to people within the club than the fans and that the fans were more of an outlet for his frustration. It's one thing for fans to be happy that they screwed over their rival but the fact that there are reports that people within the staff were ahead of the game joking about it and being happy and then for the people like Son and Romero to be talking to City players and staff while smiling and laughing after missing out on CL football next season shows a lack of mentality. If Spurs back Ange the same way Arsenal backed Arteta I honestly expect something like 70% of this squad to be gone from Spurs within 2 or 3 seasons.
